Hi,
I'm Polish and I'm thinking about move to USA. Now I'm studying so it is only plan but I want ask is there posibility to get good job for Polish men. I don't think that I could clean houses or somethink like that. I can call myself webdesigner. Next month I'm going start learning in school which give me certificate of specialist in IT (this is not higher education but technical education). Is there any posibility to get job in IT for Polish?

Thx for answers ;)

Being Polish isn’t an obstacle in getting a good job. With an exception of becoming a president, you can do whatever you want (as long as your communication skills are adequate).

Yes it doesn't matter if you're Polish. I don't know why there would be a problem there.. When you get your degree and you want to come over you should try Florida for that kind of job. The market is a little tight right now but that field has pretty stable job growth because lots of websites have to be maintained. There's too many businesses that rely on them. It really helps if you know VB.net though. That's the hot one right now.

Anyway, try this link for jobs: Look at Miami or Lauderdale.. maybe Tampa ( but I don't know Tampa as well for jobs). Theres lot of Poles in Ft. Lauderdale too.

Thanks for explanations. Maybe one obstacle to get this job is my English which is not good enough ;) But I'm working on it.
I was thinking about Chicago because there is a lot of Polish and it could be little easier I think... or Nashville which is center of country music I like :)

For deha2

I think you should hold off visiting Chicago, IL. It is bad time for job hunting. Lot of people are losing their job.

If you want to find jobs:

monster.com
chicagotribune.com
suntime.com

I don't know if you can log in in your area. Good Luck

True. The job market is not too good. Another year or so and people will come out of their caves and start shopping. It's time to wake up the economy. See my dear whole WORLD what happens when America stops shopping (consuming)?

Gosh, I miss the squeaky sound of hangers moved on the racks by bored housevives... :)

And if you come to the US, I imagine you are not coming on a tourist visa to start your job hunt, right?

Trying to get a job, and then mentioning at an interview "by the way, you have to sponsor me to hire me" is usually not acceptable.

Perhaps in a different economy. Why would a company want to spend thousand$ just to get an employee, when their selection pool can't be better than now?

That doesnt stop the eastern european hordes. Britain is in deep reccession yet half a million poes are staying in britian according to stastics and news reports.

Lets hope they stick to their cleaning jobs and dont sponge of our tax on the dole.

No immigration. Think your clan always lived in Scotland? LOL

Immigration is nothing new. People will always migrate. Otherwise you might yourself still be somewhere in Africa. All of us came from there, and migrated.

Who knows, since the downturn in the economy is less pronounced in Poland, you may find yourself cleaning toilets there some day! :-D

If you are females, don't work for Italian Cafes. They are worst place to work for in Chicago Area Northwest side near O'hare. Italians bosses don't treat their customers right and their employers too. Be careful working for them. I really don't know about other areas like Chicago Downtown. Find better jobs like cleaning in hotels. Good Luck..

Do not think small. Do not think waiter or something, think something that would make money. If you speak any english you can be president of a company just as good as someone else.

Yes. Normally there would be plenty of opportunity for you. In America it does not matter from where you come if you have skills. Although, as others have said, now is not a good time for jobs for anyone here. You may have to wait until this economic problem subsides.

Our troops will be coming home soon and they will need jobs. We don't need anymore illegals taking our jobs away. What kind of visa you planning on getting?

During tough times nations often watch out for their own first. This is how it should be. A little nationalism during trying times is good.

Don't even bother going to the USA . I've moved there for my husband . I've been there for 2 years now and other than cleaning or working in a shop for minimum wages there is little chance you can find sth good. There is little respect for Polish people there . I have ma and nobody cares.

That's a sad story. What is your MA in though? Also I think it depends where you move too. Are you big town/little town or city? It's hard to break into the job market anywhere when you are a new person to that market but especially now, in this climate...good luck for the future. Whilst you have the love of your husband you're always going be a rich girl.
