Your assertions are not use because British where in the past and are at the moment leaving Britain for Australia, USA, Canada and New Zealand.
Why do you think there is so many english speaking countrys?
No, you obviously belive yourself to be superior, fine, hope you wont brust from all this superiority you hold inside.

i'm going to assume the part i quoted above was not in reference to me or what i wrote as i can't see how i what i wrote could be construed as anything except a rhetorical question. ok?

Polonius3:

Poland has traditonally been a haven for dissenters, accounting for the large number of Jews who fled England
This is why I am soooo happy to be half polish. Polish are strong and has guts.

Only trouble being there is no basis in historical fact for his statement, sure Jews were kicked out in the middle ages, but a couple of decades after Poland had the oppertunity, but failed to take it of freeing the serfs Britain had a person of undoubted Jewish descent as Prime Minister in Benjamin Disraeli....you guys had to wait till the reds took over before a Jew or any non catholic pole took power....

I'd add one more to your list; Poles did not traffic in the slave trade like some other European nations did.

No,it only enslaved huge swathes of its native population,d'oh! Atleast we didnt enslave our next door neighbours we sailed halfway around the world and let other people sell their next door neighbours to us :)

First of all, we didn't have all those colonies to
milk for centuries (East India Company etc.),

less than 150 years actually old chap, east india company was just that,a company, the 18th century equivelent of one of say haliburton. The indian rulers invited in traders, made alliances and generally kept full independance untill around 1858,even after then most of india was administered and defended by native indians.......shouldnt spout garbage when a descendent of old Bob Clive is on the forum :)

secondly the country was in ruins
after the WW2

financialy so to was Britain, when will you numpties get it that Britain didnt recieve a penny from the Yanks after the war, unlike the rest of Europe.

after that
we had 45 years of socialism.

yeah,so,we had over 10 years of maggie thatcher,i'll take your gulags over that b*tch anyday ....

and we sank half the British fleet,

you also flew the last "enemy" flag over a British town Hall :)

During the Second World War, the Germans couldn't invade our country over land, (And they really had overwhelming numbers!)

Yes,but tanks dont generally float too well over flooded polder do they?(as Guards armoured and princes irene brigade found out in '44:( )

Ironside:
Because today Saxony is part of Germany - simple.
Someone from Burgundy nowdays is considered French but in the past he was Burgundian.
So people who lived on present territories of Ukraine were Ukrainians. You just made my point :)

Listen, Ironside. I know you are not good at all in history and I can feel in logic, but if you explain your thoughts at above-mentioned quotations with what you say about Ukraine and Ukrainians as nation as compared to French and Burgundians and Germans and Saxonians, I will appologize for saying that you lack logic, Ok? And if you avoid that, then what I felt will just be true. I will accept an answer of no-existence of all 3 mentioned nations before 1812 (as was your statement in previous #).

I find it immensely amusing that people who make such statements, as the one
quoted above, usually live in rich capitalist countries and never experienced
living in a communist country. I guess they know better... LOL

Britain was immensely poor after WWII, saving your asses cost us circa £7 billion, we suffered a massive recession and food shortages...some rationing went on until 1958....So I guess we do know better.

While everybody is welcome to their own point of view, why even bother lowering yourself to answer the original poster. It was only written to get people's backs up and for a bit of self-amusement.

I do find it strange how a 'Pole' should talk about being 'superior' to another race, i mean isn't that how a certain Austrian dictator started out :) You would have thought the Poles, especially would understand where talk like this ends up :)

When exactly did you "save our asses"? Was it in 1939 when you sat on your butts
together with the French and did nothing (and before that you made us stop the
mobilization in late August '39 still hoping to deal with Hitler)??? Or maybe you meant
at the end of the war, when together with Americans you sold us to Soviets???

Pray tell, when oh when, did our dear British friends "save our asses"?

saving your asses cost us circa £7 billion,

How on earth have you manage to do that when your own A** had to be saved by Americans? Money well spend if you ask me. That's what you get for taking the tea brake at the beginning of the war.
ShelleyS  14 | 2883

Pray tell, when oh when, did our dear British friends "save our asses"?

In Second World War 382,600 were killed and 369,267 wounded.

if you include British and Commonwealth troops, the figure rises to 580,000 killed and 475,000 wounded.

In the Second World War 67,800 British civilians were also killed in bombing raids e.t.c.

Or is the above scotch mist?

Was it in 1939

3rd September Britain declared war on Germany because they invaded Poland, I guess we should have just sat pretty with our wealth and looked the other way!

I guess we are superior, Im sure at least we'd be grateful if another country gave their lives to help us!

How on earth have you manage to do that when your own A** had to be saved by Americans? Money well spend if you ask me

It always makes me laugh when I hear comments like that, Americans were just canon fodder - they couldn't fight, they had to be trained in England and Scotland before they were half way to being ready for combat! You were their to make up the numbers!

The incessant whining about how Britian sold you out gets a bit boring, must be a Polish thing, most people would have just been grateful that we got involved in the first place! !
Piorun  - | 655

Americans were just canon fodder

Whatever your opinion is, it still dose not change the fact that you had to buy equipment from them to save your own a**, hence your debt. It has nothing to do with Poland.
ShelleyS  14 | 2883
1 May 2009 /  #138
Had we not got involved in the first place there wouldn't have been a debt, which incidently was paid in full in 2001...so Britain was still paying for doing Poland a favour long after the commies had moved out!
Piorun  - | 655
1 May 2009 /  #139
so Britain was still paying for doing Poland

You were not doing us a favour, you were trying to save your empire.
ShelleyS  14 | 2883
1 May 2009 /  #140
LOL - had we wanted to save our empire we would have left you to rot, a consequence of joining WWII was we lost EVERYTHING!

Ever hear of the treaty of Versailles? Maybe you get taught something different in Poland...

Whine whine whine, the damn Brits sold us out...whine whine whine whine, poor poor Poland! If anything this thread has taught we that you are inferior and ungrateful...
Piorun  - | 655
1 May 2009 /  #141

Well maybe you should have learned how to goosestep and all Brits should have grown Hitler mustache, make nice with the Germans and everything would have been nice, instead of borrowing money. Just don't blame it on us.
Torq

I guess we should have just sat pretty with our wealth and looked the other way!

:-)

But you did exactly that with Czechoslovakia and almost the same thing with
Poland (declaring the war and sitting on your butt is not something that I would call
"saving your asses"). You write about your losses in WW2, but let's be honest - those
were not losses suffered in Poland's defence but simply defending yourselves.

If Britain and France, apart from declaring war, did anything substantial on the western
front in 1939, where they had an OVERWHELMING advantage over Wehrmacht (which
threw all it had best on Poland, leaving the west virtually unprotected) that would end
the war in 3 months.

Face it Shelley, Britain did sweet fcukall to help Poland, and I'm not "whining" but merely
stating an obvious historical fact. We learned our lesson, don't worry. We'll know better
in future than to trust our "reliable allies".

Oh, and don't give me this "if we wanted to keep our empire we would blah, blah, blah"
bullsh*t. You had the largest empire in history and you milked half the world for
centuries, so you have only yourselves to blame if you lost what you had.

Also, expecting gratitude for leaving Poland in her hour of need in 1939 and then selling
us to Soviets is quite impudent. AN APOLOGY would be welcome and accepted (yes,
we would accept an apology because we are kind-hearted people) but asking US for
gratitude is really impudent.

More whining....I am now starting to understand why Poland is still so far behind, I mean look at Czech Republic, streets ahead.....I see rampant jealously in your post, again this is a Polish trait I am given to understand, Im also given to understand that you have somewhat of a spiteful vindictive nature, again this comes shining through in your post, maybe if they made whining an olympic sport you lot might finally win a gold in some worthwhile sport!

As a side note: What did we actually owe you anyway? You were just some ****** Eastern European country who had absolutely no ties with England.

The Czechs would not fight anyway. This was clear.Czech Republic became the Protektorat,Poland became sth else.

The whining isn't imaginary - I can hear you now, whine whine whine those Brits this those Brits that...laughable really.

Historical facts:

Britain declared war on Germany because Germany was openly breaking the treaty of Versailles, we both know what date Britain entered the war, I am aware that German bombs started dropping on England at the end of 1939, I am also aware that Poles are the most ungrateful kunts to walk this planet!
Arien  2 | 710

Quite sad...

Yes, we're all sad, we're all spoiled, we're all capitalists, we're all bad, we're not paying any taxes to help Poland, we've never tried to help Poland, we're all pathetic, we're all desperate, and we should all bown down and kneel to your slavic superiourity.

Seriously, what are you trying to prove with this thread? There's no what ''we'' have done, or what ''you'' have done, because the simple truth is, it's 63 years ago and all the people who did this are already dead, or soon will be.

:)

Oh, and if you need threads on the internet to prove how superiour you are, then really you must be the one who has an inferiourity complex?
