Hello everybody. I am Polish citizen living in UK. I'm quite desperately looking for some help.
In UK I met Algerian pilot, he was studying here. We would like to get married but...the problem is: he can not marry me...Why ? Algerian militry law forbid him to get married with somebody who is not Algerian !!!! I still can't belive that...

We doesnt even want to live in UK. I could move to Algeria but I just can't.
I don't know if there is any solution to this problem. But it is incredible, we have XXI century !!!! and we can't be together. It is so unfair.

Help

Its Arabic Muslim country

Oh yeah, forgot about all them muslim crazy laws.
I suggest you find another boyfriend. You will have a hard time adjusting to their religion.
When you have kids you will fight which religion you want them to be.
Muslims treat their wives like slaves.
It's a good sign you can't get married. There's a reason for it.

When you love one person you don't want anybody else...These pilots lived in UK 2 years, they don't like their country, they see all differences between Algeria and Europe. They and my Aziz just want to live normally and get married with women they love. Thats all.

Just be with him and wait for the marriage when legislation changes. That way you test the water before jumping in head first

Doesnt seem to bother all the other illegal immigrants, anyway if she loves him that much she should take him to Poland with her. Love conquers all as they say.

Why jump into marriage right away? Once you sign those papers you're stuck.
Live together first for 10 years and then decide if you want to get married.
See how compatible you are, how your religions clash ( because muslim religion is totally freaky) and just get to know each other better before jumping into marriage. What's the rush?

I am assuming he is on a students visa? In which case I seriously doubt they will get Home Office approval for a marriage.

maybe he could change professions in Algeria and then you could marry him and go and live with him, simple really. If he is no longer a pilot he can marry whoever he choses.

no no...He was a student in Englad with English visa. He finished his studies and went back to his country.
He can't leave Algeria now, even for holiday. He can't leave his country for next 12 years....
So he went back, I stayed in England. And it has nothing in common with Home Office.
In his county, militry law forbids him to marry me because he is a soldier. He can't leave air force because they will kill him. Algeria ITS NOT EUROPE.

He signed a contract a few years ago, when we didnt know each other.
I cant go and leave there just close to him because I dont know Arabic or French and nobody give me a visa for long time. In Algeria young people can't leave without marriage BECEUSE they will be taken TO PRISON...

He went there in February. Its August now, and we still have hope....
I'm waiting for some miracle only...and writing to international organizations like Humans Rights Watch because its so unfair
WE HAVE XXI CENTURY AND ITS IMPOSSIBLE TO BE TOGETHER
something is wrong with this world...

He knew, of course he knew. To begin with he didn't tell me...Told me when it was too late for me... And he didn't expect that things between us will go that way....We we trying to finish but we didn't want, we could;t....

We were together with this knowledge that he will have to go back there. Love and tears.

Don't listen to an ignorant or a racist(i don't know what's worst).

if you love each other then it's all about understanding each other religion and come to mutual agreement.

When you sign up for a carrer in military service in Algeria is very difficult to get out of it,but they wont kill you all you loose is your career(i can understand him).

you wanted to marry him anyway you don't have to go throught civil marriage, you can do it with an Imam(equivalent to a priest in christianity).

go and visit Algeria,it's very liberal country.

good luck Wega

Many militaries doesn't allow a foreign spouse. It is not only Algeria. In Finland, if you are in active military service (specially airforce and Finnish Marine Commandos) and try to marry a Russian then be prepare to face a hard time, a lot of interviews and paperwork and reviews. In US, if I remember it correctly, you will be interviewed and your foreign spouse thing will constantly pop up on your periodic reviews.

They may give you a hard time, but it's not against the law, that's the difference between the countries you mentioned and Algeria.

Anyway, her post was months ago, hopefully she met someone else and is living happily :)

but it's not against the law

it is against the military Law,it's a contract.

foxtrot is right if you're active in Algeria or elsewhere then you're breaking the terms.

unless he gives up his carrer ,i doubt it.
