trix42 1 | 2 24 Nov 2009 / #1Hey, i have been thinking about joining british royal marines for some time now but i am concerned about my nationality, i live in UK for 3 years but i havent filled any residency forms or anything like that. So can i join royal marines with polish nationality? if not what would i have to do to be able to join?
dtaylor5632 18 | 1,999 24 Nov 2009 / #2You have to have lived in the UK for 5 years and become a British citizen. At the moment as far as I know they have been discussing about letting the Polish sign up, but for now you have to get citizenship to apply.

jonni 16 | 2,481 24 Nov 2009 / #11AmathystI didn't know that. It's a shame really.Trix, how old are you? If you're under a certain age, or a University student, there may be some more options.
santander 1 | 68 24 Nov 2009 / #12Do they really bury people up to their necks in sand?No only on reality tv "I'm a Celebrity let me stay in here as long as it takes to resurrect my failing career"
Amathyst 19 | 2,702 24 Nov 2009 / #13I didn't know that. It's a shame really. The TA has the same rules as the regular army, since they are both employed by the MoD.
jonni 16 | 2,481 25 Nov 2009 / #14There should be something for non-citizens who come from friendly countries. They'd have to swear allegiance to the Crown, but it isn't a problem for the police, who are recruiting Poles.
Trevek 26 | 1,700 29 Dec 2009 / #17This might give you some idea.royalnavy.mod.uk/careers/how-to-join/eligibility/If you do have an interest in The French Foreign legion, you can write to them for information. They'll send you brochures and an idea of pay (seriously, I did it once). Trouble is that it is a fixed 5 year service.
