Polish citizen working as British/Irish policeman?

Hello.

My brother has Polish Citizenship, can he become a police officer in the UK or Ireland? Can anyone here write a bit about this work in these countries? I've found some sites with info today, but can't find any facts (like incomes, work hours per week etc.).

Thanks for any help.

A Polish citizen can be a Civil Servant in the UK, so i see no reason why they can't join the police force

Here's a web link

they can apply in the UK and in some areas the police are actively recruiting certain nationalities such as Polish (e.g.) in London. The applicant needs to have been living in the UK for a minimum number of years (I think it is between 3 and 5, but check). They must also be fluent in written and spoken English. I know this because my partner thought about applying recently, but his written English wasnt good enough.
