In some ways I feel noimmi is right although he could state his opinions in a different way. I have lived in Poland for 5 years and to get anything out of the system here is a nightmare, I have my own business for which I pay ZUS (Polish national insurance) and taxes but really havent seen any benefits for myself of it.

Noimmi fails too state thats its not just the poles coming to the UK who have the easy ride but also the Bulgarians, Romanians, Slovakians etc. I'm sure if he mentioned these, people would be more accepting of his viewpoints. Its true that these people can get anything they want out of the system and often have more rights than British people. I mean have you ever heard of a country where they hire interpreters in school for immigrant children? Poland certainly wouldn't do that. It is concessions like this that make people like noimmi hostile.

HE shouldnt blame the Poles the Bulgarians etc for what our government grants to immigrants, they are only taking advantage of something that will help them better themselves.

Absolutely spot on in every way welshguy. I also have my own business for which I pay ZUS and now they are suggesting a 30% tax rate on some surplus income over the set threshold. I was in hospital in 2005 and I didn't pay ZUS then as I was on a different contract. I had a special form. Now, I pay 300PLN a month for nothing.

Now, I pay 300PLN a month for nothing.

You're luck to be paying 300PLN, that was the special introductory rate. Wait till it goes up to 800zl a month and nothing is being done with it

I know, I have heard. I will resign from my firm after the end of the next school year. I am entering the second year of my company and it will still be 300PLN. It's only when u hit the 3rd year do things begin to change.

I pay over 800PLN in tax a month and seldom use public services. What a waste!! Paying soldiers to go and fight 'terrorists', hmm...I don't want to sound conservative as I believe in socialist ideas to an extent but the question is the level. If I were in Britain, I would vote Liberal Democrat.

How are they subsidizing me when they are taking more money out of the pot than they are putting in.

I believe in socialist ideas to an extent but the question is the level. If I were in Britain, I would vote Liberal Democrat.

as do I, however I would never call nu labour socialists. I would be hard pushed to even call them centre left.

I hate, and I mean I absolutely hate the thought of voting for the tories. It is against my principals aswell as those of my family. However I believe that immigration and the eu are the biggest threat to me and my future children there for I will be voting for any party that is sceptical of these issues. I will however never vote BNP or ukip etc.

I may vote conservative not because I am one but because I geniunely believe that immigration should be caped, especially caped on countries from outside the EU and eastern europe.

I have no problem with immigration from any western or northern european ountries however. You hardly see wave after wave of unskilled germans, french or swedish etc.

Even the Poles I have talked to agree that too many unskilled Poles went across, more dreamlike than with any practical ambition. How do u think a Conservative government would tackle the problem? It is very hard to enforce a capping system as u propose, although I like the thought.

Britain has alot to answer for because of its Empire. We wanted to conquer other lands now we pay the price.

I wouldn't bring that historical fact into the equation too much tho. Don't punish the present generation for the folly of its forbearers/predecessors.

Britain has alot to answer for because of its Empire. We wanted to conquer other lands now we pay the price.

when did we conquer poland, lithuania, romania, slovakia, slovania, bulgaria, croatia, russia, albania, bosnia, kosovo.

I could go on and on. under the geneva convention of human rights "no group of peoples shall be blamed nor bare the burden of the actions of their ancestors"

Yes britain conquered many countries, does that mean we the current generation should pay for what our ancestors did, no of course not.

do any of the current former common wealth even remeber the british redcoats that conquered their ancestors , no of course not.

The empire was guilty of many crimes, but it did bring huge amounts of trade and wealth to countries under its control. And it can be argued that people are better off because of british colonisation. look at hong kong for example

That i cant argue with and I, for one, am proud of the empire. The Raj turend India into a civilised country, to name but 1.

I just dream of the day when Britain is famous again because of the great country it is not because its the country where you can go and get all that free stuff.

Being better off doesn't make it right tho noimmi but I appreciate what u r sayin.

The Geneva Convention said it well. I guess it said 'bear the burden' tho ;)

To regularly look back in anger jeopardises future cordial relations between nations.

Good 2 c u quoting legal provisions with teeth. That really backed up what u were trying 2 say. Good on ye lad ;)

Polish mass immigration is a CURRENT problem for many so we should focus on that. A possible deterrent may be the increase in fares by many airlines. In 2004, it was so cheap but the increase in fuel prices has had a knock-on effect.

I really know why Poles leave noimmi. OK, u may say that they shouldn't fill up our island but conditions here for many leave a lot to be desired.

Back to the thread, tax evasion/avoidance are taken seriously so the relevant culprits will be prosecuted. The tax authorities see all.

It doesnt bother me in the slightest if you do not believe me. At least I am not studying sociology taught by micky mouse or psychology taught by donald duck. I bet the principal of your polytechnic is goofy or pluto.

That's about the stretch of it, I feel the same way.

Self-ingratiating academics emerge from such courses. Fountains of nearly useless information.

Studying law was a pleasure and really opens the mind. Sociology does in its own way but is too theoretical. Law is living and can be applied more readily.
