I understand that the USA is even more strict, but we kind of have to be. People want to kill us. So we have to be careful.

The USA is a joke in terms of immigration, Even though Britain stands behind the US on all their ridiculous wars for oil they still won't let us come and visit without loads of ridiculous paperwork so much for the "special relationship" hey,

All we get in terms of thanks is loads of friendly fire killing our troops.

I know this is an old thread...but nothing has changed. I am American and applied for a renewal of my Karta Pobytu in OCTOBER of last year...2008...I still don't have anything. I got a rejection in February based on some ******** that didn't even make sense and I was finally able to get it appealed in March after being sent all over the city to the wrong places...decision was FOUR months after I applied (they swear 45 days max) The latest was supposed to be an answer by June 1st on the appeal. I finally reached someone on the telephone after calling daily with no answer...finally being sent to two different locations and given two new numbers...and they said there has been a decision but they cannot tell me what it is and that the ONE director who must sign it is on ******* HOLIDAY so it will be 2 or 3 weeks before I should get it by post...but that's not the answer just a paper saying there has been a decision that I must then take and wait all day to collect a yes or no. THEN go back again to collect the card if it's a yes...God knows how long I have to leave if they say no.

So NINE months with constant delays and excuses...it doesn't matter what the "law" is you can't force them to do anything. What am I going to do pay a lawyer thousands more to argue with a wall? In addition if they give me a card it won't start now when they give it...it will start at the day of the original decision in February (They told me this and it was the same in the past) which means it is nearly half expired already.

The total cost has been around 1000pln with the fees and documents being certified. To make it worse I cannot get a Zameldownia (registration) because my landlord refuses to even respond about it and I don't know anyone who owns a flat (they are all owned by some invisible grandma in another city so they don't have to pay taxes or something and the owner has to come with their ownership documents to register you no exceptions in Warsaw)...and you must have the Zameldowania to collect the card so I have no idea what I will do if I get a positive answer.

I am worried if I say **** POLAND and just go home they will fine or ban me from the EU at the airport since I don't have any documents. I plan to take the 5cm thick folder of documents for the guard to look through if I go this route.

My tale is not uncommon either...and a lot of people are just illegals and not worrying about it or forging documents. I just show my old Karta Pobytu to the Police etc and it is long expired...I just hope nobody notices or they don't change the card style.

This is not a modern and civilized country and NOBODY in these offices will lift a finger to help you. They can't be bothered.

You are an idiot if you think that's all it takes. I despise people like you spreading lies like this.

Yet you decide to stay? You are currently and illegal immigrant, so I'd stop bitaching about it if I were you!

He was referring to this:

I am not illegal you dolt. I am still "in process"...how would anyone figure the Polish government not handling their end yet makes me illegal? You have no interest in my case or this situation yet you chose to come run your fat mouth in here....do you work at the immigration office? If not you have nothing to say about it.

What is it like to have nothing better to do that go crap in a thread of someone clearly having a rough time? Make you feel like a big girl?...wait I have a feeling you ARE a big girl...nevermind.

It's not worth getting busted. It's best to follow the laws. I will say it was a pain in the rear because even the government people don't interpet the laws the same way.
