Why is Poland so Un-Sexy?

Arrgghh!!
16 Nov 2006 /  #1
Just following on from an article that hit the Polish Internet portals a few days ago. Why is Poland as a country not seen as a SEXY place by foreigners?

Is it that you have a bunch of semi-bovine politicians running the place (the Kaczynskis, Giertych, Marcinkiewicz, and previously Walęsa)?; Or is it the bleak wintry weather, and the uninviting Stalinist architecture?; Or perhaps the crap cars - wasn't the Polonez a real design classic?

How is it that the Czech Republic and Hungary are both perceived as exciting and sexy, but Poland is a limp non-contender?

Czech people don't believe in God. They are the most atheistic country in the world. How would you expect Poland to follow such behavior? Poland is one of the few countries where the real and long-term values are most important. Countries like Czech Republic or other "modern/plastic/overnight followers" without their own values and integrity have only such "values" like "sex" or "gay thing" to offer.

Czech people don't believe in God.

The Czechs are largely protestants, but not church-goers. If you look in the whole of Western European the percentage of protestants who are church-goers is very low. Nothing unusual about that. Anyway what century do you live in, the 15th (sorry in Polish: XV wiek)? Most of the civilized world is atheist, or at least non-pracitising, and has been for nearly a century.

There is a big theory that much of the ***, all the problems in Poland is the result of the Catholic church.

You only have to cross the border into Czechia to see a shiny new world, with good roads, tidy towns, pubs in every village, smiling faces (well more than Poland, but not as much as say Germany). It's a pleasure to go there from ***hole, toothless, drunk-infested Poland.

There is a good reason why the Czechs have not emigrated to the UK in their hundreds of thousands. Despite wages that are not much better than Poland, they are quite happy with life there... It's a sexy, exciting, relatively fulfulling place to live. Quite unlike Poland which is miserable and utterly oppressed by the Catholic church.

Go to any village in Poland and the only building that is properly built, of stone, and by an architect, with attention to detail, is the church. There are no bars, no social life. It is sick sick sick, and that's largely the fault of the Catholic church....

What a completely 1-dimensional image you create of Czechia as driven entirely by 'Sex' or the 'gay thing'. You have missed my point about a country being sexy by 180 degrees. Sexy has NOTHING to do with sex. Please read the question again.

(And yes, I AM being patronizing! OK?)

Poland is bigger than Czech and give it some time to fix the mess after the other system. Then it will be more pleasure to go to Poland as there will be more things to do and more possibilities.

Czech has 10 million people, and about 1/4 of the land area of Poland, which has 40 million people. So sorry, that's a really rubbish excuse.

The Czech Rep has Prague.... one of the sexiest towns in Europe. (And I don't mean because of the sex industry)

Hungary has Budapest... beautiful town (and also porn capital of Europe, but I wasn't refering really to that.)

Krakow is nice, but certainly doesn't have the international status of Prague or Budapest, and is quite small in comparison.

Oh I forgot Warsaw.

Probably just as well.

My god. I just realize my posts above got censored!!!

Just replace *** with sh1t and you will decipher my sparkling prose.

Just don't get much opportunity to use it in this godforsaken sexless country (sorry that should probably read 'god-infested' sexless country). And I used to have a rampant sex-life before moving here! What a mistake...

Yeh, just off to catch the tram to the fabryka. Just got to put on my blue boiler suit. No point going to bed now...

Really. And what do we all have to do with your frustration. You lost me here.
I suggest you complain to the Polish government. Or not. Perhaps the British one can help you. You a laughing stock.
But you got the attention, so if that helps you - you got it made here.

Because of "workers" like you the Polish productivity is lower than in other countries. It's sabotage.

You lost me here.

Sorry Miranda,
You lost me too. I don't understand your post.

Do you really think if I went to the Sejm in my blue boiler suit, they would enact an Uchwala to give me more sex? Now isn't that a brilliant idea...

As for being a laughing stock, that is entirely my intention. But you seem to have no sense of humour, so are quite unable to appreciate this.

Oh dear, I've been discovered... My secret cover as 008 is blown.

I was a mission from MI6 to destabilize the Polish economy, to force 600,000 Poles to return from Britain. My mission is a failure. M and C will never forgive me.

Thank Brian that I have my secret cyanide capsule hidden in my rear molar. I must crack it now.... just a second

sssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss....

Don't be late for the tramwaj to your praca in the fabryka. And make sure you got your buty and rękawiczki and czapka. It can get pretty zimno when the tramwaj doesn't show up and ty musisz stand and czekać.

These older ladies must get a seat!!! When I started Liceum in Poland, I was very nervous and thinking about the school and sat down in the tramwaj and didn't notice a fat older lady standing next to me. When she walked out, she looks at me and in front of everyone says with an accusing and sarcasting tone of voice:"£adnie, bardzo ładnie.."

I was so embarrased I almost cried....

Warsaw is full of bars, clubs, museums, theatres, shops etc. Lots of places for you to meet a nice girl. Do you have any Polish friends? Ask them if you can tag along to any discos, clubs, pubs they go to. Get out a bit more, meet some people.

A lot of people in Poland have balangi (parties) at home. Make some friends and get yourself invited to a few.

Whingeing about Poland and your non-existent sex life is not going to make you any friends. Noone really wants to know about your sex life apart from you.

Krysia, I know what you mean. Some older people can be very rude.

As a child I was always expected to give up a seat, even at 8 or 9!

It is practically expected in Poland.

you have been nothing but complaining and I do understand your frustration and a need to vent, however I don't think that it's going to help you in the end.

You will not find peace and happiness but having such an attitude.
If you are really looking for finding a sound board change of tone and a more realistic approach to life would be appreciated.

It does it seem to me that your social life and your job in Poland is very satysfying, however life is complicated and most people have some kind of frustration to deal with on daily basis.

So, what I am saying is - you are not the only one - Hang in there and I am sure that sg good will happen. Try to be open. Very difficult, but possible. I am sure there are people who appreaciate you - you just seem to forget about it.

How about showing your good side of personality for a change - I am sure you have one:)
All the best

I'm as rigid as ever.

We all are at times. Put the weapons down for a while. Anger is just a cover up for sadness and it's OK to be sad at times.

All Eastern European nations are perceived as gloomy or downright boorish - that's one reason.
And we are rubbish at self-promotion - Czechs and Hungarians are far better at it.

Returning back to the older ladies in Poland.
One time when 8 years old I had to go to the toilet. My mother was with me and told the old lady she'll pay for me. When I walked out of the stall, this fat old ugly woman grabs me by the arm and won't let me go!!! I start crying but this big, mean, fat, woman wants her 50gr. and is holding me and hurting my arm and won't let go!! I was never so scared in my life!!! Then my mother walks out. Boy did she give that mean old woman a piece of her mind!!!

And yes, my mother did pay her.

C'mon now i fidn this offensive.....Poland does have alot of ugly industrial cities, but to say all of poland is unsexy that is simply uneducated. First off Poland def is in top the 5 for attractive women of any specific nationality....how is that unsexy? second Poland has amazing historic towns, cities and small resorty place that have all have their own unique night lifes...... not sexy i guess???

I'm dying to hear something more about that theory.

Hungary has Budapest... beautiful town (and also porn capital of Europe, but I wasn't refering really to that.)

That's because Czech's never did an uprising against The Germans, and Hungarians were their allies. But I'm sure you did know that already, right? :)

Warsaw didn't always looked the way it looks now.

A little bit more sloppy. It doesn't have to be the rule though. As for the numbers of Roma's here, it's hard to say, but it's definitely fewer than in Czech Rep. or Slovakia.

Czech Rep (Prauge) . has been ruined over the years and if you call that sexy then I have to disagree, Budapest is ugly and the spa's are full of old naked women, that certainly isnt sexy..Krakow had lots of bars, plenty of totty and damn good night life...that I would say is sexy!

I feel that Arrrh has had some bad experiences in Poland...
