Hi all

The best rate I can see online today is £3.91. Does anyone know what the exchange rate is in Poland when you draw money out of a cash machine?

Thanks

Nick

It's your bank that determines the rates.....

I know but I was just wondering if any Brits had been and could say, "I'm with HSBC and got 3.95 and charge 1%" or something like that.

Cheers

The rate fluctuates so there is no way of knowing - if you have a mate with a Nationwide (just a bog standard account) account, the put some money in his account, the withdrawals abroad are free and the rate is usually quite good...

The amount of holiday money that you lose or gain is small, and it is only really worth looking at which rate is the best if you are changing hundreds or thousands of GB pounds.

A couple of groszy here or there on the pound will not make any difference, unless you are Scottish of course lol

p.s. no offence to Scottish people here, just a joke :)

Take cash to Poland and change it at a Kantor, thats the best rate, youll save around £10 on every £200.

according to the website Kantory.pl the average exchange rate for today is (buys at) 4.0039 (sells at) 4.1219.
so for £100 you can gain 9 pounds (and there are usually no fees at a kantor, while I'm not sure if your bank adds some fees)

Just don't bring Scottish or NI bank notes: you can not change them anywhere!

And Krzysztof: you mean that on £100 he can gain 9 zloty (i.e. £2.25)

HSBC take around 2% commission so you will get 2% less than the xe.com rate, Make sure they give you free withdrawals abroad though, I know with HSBC it costs £5 to upgrade for a month to some sort of premier account so is worth it in the long term otherwise its £1.75 per transaction. They will consistantly stop your card though as they suspect fraud, Thats why I had to change.
