Hello;
I'm visiting Poland (from the UK) in a few weeks with a friend.
We will based in Gdansk, but there is a plan to visit Olsztyn and Ketrzyn area (yes, alright - Wolf's Lair).
The current plan is to hire a car in Gdansk and to drive to Olsztyn & Ketzryn. However, the accounts of aggressive drivers etc. that I'm seeing on this forum have rather put me off. This would be my first experience of driving on the right, on a left hand drive car, after all.
Does anyone have a view whether it is feasible to do this part of the journey by bus/coach? Apparently Poland has a very good coach network, but the relevant websites seem to be mainly in Polish.
many thanks,
A
there is a rail connection between Gdańsk, Olsztyn and Kętrzyn
you can check them out on pkp.pl connection search which is also in English - if you find it difficult to use anyway just let know here sometime and certainly someone will check that out for you specific enough
aha it's a couple of miles from Kętrzyn to the Wolf's Lair itself but I'm sure there is some private transportation available
there are also coaches from Gdańsk eastward to Mazury (but it's a bit more difficult to search for such connections on-line)
Depends on your level of interest. You could spend 4-6 hours there if you really wanted, which would make it a really long day.
It is a bit of a drive though. We did it from Krynica Morska and then on to Bialystok in one day. Only spent about 2-3 hours there though.
