Sasiad 19 Sep 2006 / #1Girlfriend is off home soon for 2 weeks. Told her I can't come over 2 weeks, to busy at work but wanna surprise her. Will go over for a weekend (advice a hotel) and want to meet her at a nice/friendly/trendy place. Can any one advice me what are the best places to go out with your girlfriend in Gdansk?
polskadan 1 | 16 19 Sep 2006 / #2Well...my girlfriend and I's favorite restaurant was on Dluga (the nicest+most romantic street in Gdansk) it was called Sphinx and it isn't too expensive. After exploring the town you can go to the Multikino which is right across from the train station, very nice inside there.
OP Sasiad 20 Sep 2006 / #3Thanks for the info, found Sphinx on the internet and looks good, promising. Not sure about Multikino, is it only a cinema or do they have other things to do as well.
AsiaBill 20 Sep 2006 / #4Yesterday after my friend got off work at 5PM we went to Jozef K. Cafe in Sopot not far from the beach with this incredible homey ( & funky ) ambience where we had this incredible conversation about each of our family backgrounds.gdansk-life.com/gdansk/where_to_drink/pubs_cafes_details/4-Cafe_Jozef_ KThis new cafe seems to exist in a world of its own - as all great cafes should. You'll find it on a sleepy little corner near the train station, and if Mr Sun is in a good mood, there'll be a clutter of old wooden tables and chairs outside, ideal for a teddy bears picnic. Inside the spirit is free and funky, with a beguiling mish-mash of odds and ends that look as if they might have been plucked from a a remarkably good car boot sale. If you start to hear peculiar echoes, don't be alarmed, it is not the beer, rather it is the resident parrot, a nonchalant fellow, who enjoys poking fun at guests. A gem.
OP Sasiad 20 Sep 2006 / #6Thanks all of you so far,Already booked my flight and stay in Hanza hotel (shame its only a 24 h visit), anyway look forward to visit Gdansk, Barbados looks like a nice place, hope they can play some C. Santana:) Sopot looks very nice as well but it's a bit out of the way for this short visit, maybe a next time.
BubbaWoo 25 Sep 2006 / #7sopot is a 25 min train ride from gdansk - less in a cab thatll cost not much more than a fiver... check out Josef K... take gf for a moon lit stroll along the beach... spend the night wandering from bar to bar and then watch the sun come up from the end of the molo...failing that, Sfinx has ambient lighting but comes with all the negatives of a chain restaurant... pod lososziem - which is spelt wrong but means house of salmon or something - is just of dluga and offers top authentic polish tucker... then wander up to absynth for a drink or twobetter yet... take the train to sopot... its worth it... :)
polskadan 1 | 16 25 Sep 2006 / #8wait where do they serve absynth in Gdansk??? I definetly missed that on month stay in Gdansk.
