Russia would overrun Poland without too much difficulty.

Would that action be tolerated by the EU?

The EU is a big paper tiger, Im sure they would sit it out fearing Russian retaliation.

Are you saying Eurofor & the European Union Battlegroup cannot act as a counterweight to Russia?

... lol, c'mon are you serious? Russia (even now) would have the entire continent in about 9-12 months.

Of course I am serious. I know that in such a situation the bat phone would ring and help would be requested.

My point is that the Poles should depend on no one other than themselves for their defense. The old adage of "there is strength in numbers" should be pursued.

What? You don't want to provide that help again.. and PAY for it as well! For shame!

My point is that the Poles should depend on no one other than themselves for their defense.

..sounds like a winner to me. Russia will make a run at the Ukraine eventually. The Polish / EU response will be interesting.

If it were up to me the US would withdraw from NATO.

I'm with ya'. It's a dream, but dreams come to fruition sometimes. With the level of anti-americanism around the world I think it's possible.

I can't believe what I'm seeing. The US is not going to withdraw from NATO. It's not going to happen.

I realize that the current administration will not get out of NATO. What you're seeing is what I would do if I were in power.

The US is not going to withdraw from NATO. It's not going to happen.

It's purpose is over for the most part. I hate to be link meister but Ron Paul is dead right about it. NATO's purposed ended after the Cold War. America ends up paying for most of it.

If they disband it something else will take it's place. I would like to see a treaty that involves more countries.

Crime is not in the DNA. It is from the society.

Only if you separate society from the man. The criminal...its not his fault its society's fault. That is nonsense and I do not subscribe to that view.

You postulate a simplistic world kept safe and secure under the guardianship of UN that will somehow work in a way that the present UN has not? But you ignore national interest, which is self-interest, and which will always be the downfall of a United Nations as it is for the present UN and the League of Nations before it. Dream on :-)

The EU is a big paper tiger, Im sure they would sit it out fearing Russian retaliation.

We would certainly not want to risk Russian gas being turned off.

But why does anyone believe Russia is remotely interested in Poland? If there was no talk of a US missile defence system being based in Poland would Poland even figure on Soviet political radar? No US no interest.

But you ignore national interest, which is self-interest

Self-interest will be there....in the shape of Self (the whole human kind) interest.

UN or a better name can be given to the organization too.

Dream on :-)

Dreams have always been the foundation of civilizations. Those who dare to dream, make it to the shores of success.

The problem with debating this topic with a lot of people is that they create a false dichotomy from the outset; one that entails being either invaded or flexing muscle to prevent such an event. Many people fail completely to look at the merits of diplomacy and creating economic ties or inter dependencies as ways of ensuring peace. - basically a bunch of fear mongering created and perpetuated by people that love the idea of fighting as long as they personally don't have to do it or suffer from it.

Now, I'm off to go watch some fights in Katowice if anyone is interested, today MikoĊ‚owska 72 the new AWF building.

Youre the clown that wanted the US to give Poland money because were not going to build the MDS anymore.

And you're a moron, who thinks that Captain America is lighting up the Sun each morning...

And all the time before that you were opposed to it being built in the first place?

Of course I was against that crap.

Yet you said that you felt like the US should give you money because were not going to build it now....why is that since you didnt want it in the first place???

Good luck with that you Chump..lol

And you're a moron, who thinks that Captain America is lighting up the Sun each morning...

This only proves how childish you really are:)

I ran into this very interesting interview with Putin which supposedly was censored from the western press:

Super interview, cheehaw. I wouldn't have censored that at all. He handed out choice words and some harsh rhetoric but many leaders do that when needed.

LOL.. Greg, Capt. America is a comic created by ... one of your favorite people... a Jew.

Now get back to your hideout in the woods and plan for a Russian invasion that's not even coming.

You don't want the Yanks there.. more than happy to oblige you.

The Russian invasion isn't coming because of the decency of Putin. The Americans were in Georgia, though, training them up to antagonise.

Decency, LOL. Antagonize how? By giving them food and blankets? I don't remember US troops in there, sire. Thankfully, we have the EU who sits around criticizing the whole thing from their couches.

cheehaw

An article that starts with the line "Owing to the Zionist occupation of the Western Press". When I read such an opener, I just stop reading as I normally can predict what will follow. I wish ppl here should stop linking to these kinda biased sources ONLY and put in an effort to provide really neutral news by providing AND these kinda sources AND sources that provide the opposite view. That would be truly unbiased. But unfortunately.

Edit: a Russian invasion will not take place because Putin knows he will be in a shiteload of trouble when he invades a European country.

>^..^<

M-G (unfortunately indeed)

Yes and no.. He wants the Ukraine back, not Poland. He basically flat out told Bush that. I don't think Russia really fears anybody at core.

It's not something I want to believe, but there is an awful lot of evidence that the American military is being used often in that way. And because the american people are waking up to that fact, Obama is, or may have even already, reinstated the military draft under the guise of volunteerism/service because a lot of americans do not want to fight or instigate these wars.

There's a lot of information out there about that, Ron Paul has been discussing it, as illegal for the most part, that the draft is by volunteer even though they tell people it is compulsory service. and threaten to jail people if they don't comply. But I am not aware of anyone receiving draft notices at this time yet.

When I read such an opener, I just stop reading as I normally can predict what will follow.

You obviously have some biases of your own.

Scrappy, please read the interview that cheehaw posted. Yes, he could have lied but he tells you what happened in Georgia. There were American trainers in there. There was American weaponry. Saakashvili met with Cheney, I wonder why. I also know a Polish soldier who was based there and he confirmed an American presence.

He also drew a correct parallel between Kosovo and S Ossetia and Abkhazia.

He wants the Ukraine back? Prove it!

I'm not criticising, I'm discussing.

Who hasn't met with Cheney? Probably had lunch with the Pres. of Sudan at one time or another. Trainers in Georgia are not the same thing as troop presence, man. Besides Russians do business with Chavez, fool around in the Caribbean. What do you expect , it's business as usual.

Obama has been smart to deal with the Russians.. after all they hate the Muslims as much as us. The problem with EU clown (particularly British) they make mountains out of molehills. It's just the usual machinations. You think too much , son. :- (

It matters that you took sides with the Georgians and whipped out yet more propaganda.
scrappleton  - | 829
18 Oct 2009 /  #119
All is false, as that russian CK kid always says. Well, prove the propaganda.. We're not in there now for the most part. That's good reason Obama was brought in.

Look, the Bear jabs a stick at us and we do it at him.. ad infinitum. You in the EU think it's all vitriol and sabre rattling .. and it's not.
