Poland along with all the other new EU entrants are not strong economic powers

Poland is an oncoming strong economic power, and yes by entring the EU, they accepted to have the Euro ;)

(i have the weird feeling that you like to say bad things about Poland, and keep comparing Poland to England... :) you live there, you cannot hate all...)

All I can say to that is come live here for a couple of years - start a business buy a house take a driving test and experience the medical system. I'd be interested to hear your feed back then.

Its not all bad, although i am getting the hell out of here ASAP.

Yep, today Złoty would be stronger than French ex-currency, the "Franc" ;)

I don't say that eveything's perfect, but why do you criticize Poland for its roads, people, weather then ?...

start a business - no problems here

buy a house - same, no real problems that I would find anywhere else in Europe

take a driving test - OK I give you that one :O). Although I haven't taken the test, but tried to transfer my driving license to a Polish one, (bloody nightmare) Grrrrr

the medical system - I would say it's on par with the UK system at the moment, if not I hate to say it, slightly better

I don't know what people you see, but my Polish relatives and friends are kind and not miserable at all.

the roads are terrible

It depends where in Poland. Where are you ?

the weather is bad in the winter

Bad means snowy and cold weather ? What is the weather in England, in Germany ? The weather in summer (in PL) is really good, i cannot say the same about the UK...

I take it you are referring to the private care here ? Admittedly the NHS has it's faults but it is simply on a different planet compared to Polish state hospitals, and my opinion is from first hand experience.

trust me, the roads are terrible but are slowly being improved since Poland joined the EU. I speak for Warsaw and the surrounding area and they seem to be resurficing the roads here one by one. They still have a long way to go and could really do with building some motorways to further the improvements.

well my experience was having to bribe the head nurse otherwise the patient wouldn't get her bandages changed, filthy wards, toilets and showers in the hospital, being prescribed drugs that are banned in other countries due to adverse affects, doctors prescribing a certain drug because if they did they got payment from the drug company and doctors who can be bribed to write a sick note.

Yeah, sorry ;)

No i won't lose anything, have you ever been elsewhere in Poland ?? I visited many places, and always travelled by car, so i know what i'm talking about. There are bad roads, i know that, but don't say that all roads are sh!t cause it's not true. I drove on good and very good roads.

No i won't lose anything,

you will lose, you are the only person I've ever heard trying to say the Polish roads are good, they have improved in the last 2 years but are generally still awful.

that all roads are sh!t cause it's not true

Of course there not all bad.

Ive been all over Poland, ive clocked up around 30,000 miles mate. Had three punctures replaced a couple of shock absorbers and lost an indicator most of this is due to the bad roads.

I have to drive to my parents in law on the 24th its 300 miles and a six hour journey, i drive on the A4 from Wroclaw till it ends at Krakow for 200 miles this takes around three hours then I drive North 100 miles and that takes three hours because the roads are terrible.

And no my car is not an old banger.

Where was this? I am not saying it doesn't happen, I have heard of it, but never experienced it myself.

Terrible, no other words can describe what your girlfriend and you must have gone through, I guess we have just been bloody lucky down here in Pulawy, because we have never had even the slightest hint of bad care. :O)

I would imagine its similar to in the UK, better areas generally have better facilities, smaller waiting lists, the poorer areas are the opposite......

I like the idea of the EURO but Poland's currency is getting stronger so, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. It would certainly aid convenience but Poland shouldn't feel under pressure. Lord Only Knows Britain laboured the fudging of the convergence criteria for long enough.

Result of Poland accepting the Euro.

<<NEWSFLASH>> The poor will get poorer and the rich will get richer.

Surprise, surprise. Depending on Polands growth entry should be around 2012 to 2014.

Wroclawboy. Jesus man you really seem to have had a bad time. I've done exactly what you did. And am having a ******* ball. Loads of parties, free time, good food, loads friends. I love it. I suppose it boils down to who you know and not what you know.

Poland will have the Euro but there are not specific date at the moment, then it's not that different. They could have it in 2009 like in 2013 (probably around 2012)

Hopefully they will set a date around 2112 and the EU will collapse in the meantimes. :P

It seems that we are going to adopt EURO much later than 2012.

Main reason look on what happen in baltic states. They are members of program before Euro. When troubles apeared they Estonia have 11% infation and only 4.5 % incerease of GDP. Latvia has 16% inflation. This countries can't react on this changes because they are in program before Euro

We have biger inflation too (1% one year ago now about 3- 4%), it isn't so horible like in baltic states because we have tools to react in result we have the smallest inflation form new EU members. The other thing is that baltic states had unbalanced budget policy, Polish growt is the healthies in new EU, now we will see why ;) (during troubles).

Euro yes but not now when we develope much faster than Euro Zone and decsions of European bank (good for Germany or Italy) can be harming for our rapidly developing country.

wzrost

it took some years to reach that mark, but still that would be far to quick to get through as inflation rate

Oh, but it is true and not only in Germany. In Holland they did the same: 1 Euro = about 2.2 Dutch Florins but the week and month after the introduction everything that was priced for example 5 Guilders (Florins) before was now 4 or 5 Euros, just about twice as much. And indeed, things that cost 1 Florin before, since then cost 1 Euro. Ppl lost a lot of money due to the change. Especially the hospitality sector abused the currency change.

And Lukasz, Poland may be the best (according to a Polish source - I just wonder how subjective that will be), but Slowakia is the first to adopt the Euro from all these countries, as fas as I know.

M-G (so very true)
