They are simply... simply... uncool - to say the least.

Grzesiu, that was very cute and made me smile.

As for Germans, I simply haven't had bad experiance, although I am aware of certain characteristics. It's too bad, because there are so many things I still like about Germany.

Bratwurst Boy has to admit that krakowska kielbasa surpasses german Wurst.

Nothing to do with the war or history bratwurst boy - truth is that people simply do not like Germans !
Whereas most people do like Poles because in general they are pretty friendly and humourous people - things that simply cannot be said about Germans - sorry

And when Germans try to be humorous, it is painful to both eyes and ears.

You MUST have other examples of your "greatness", don't you?

X th century - conflict over Pomerania between Mieszko I, the ruler of Poland and Margrave Hodo of the Nordmark Northern March and Saxon March, who was also ruler of the neighbouring marchy of Lusatia. Germans were beaten and forced to withdrawn.

XI th century - 1003 - 1018 war between polish king Bolesław the Brave and German Henry II the Holy Roman Emperor - Germans lost Lusatia and Misnia.

XII th century - in 1109 Henry V, German Holy Roman Emperor, invades Poland but in short time is beaten and forced to withdrawn.

XV th century - The Great War (1409-1411) between Kingdom of Poland / Grand Duchy of Lithuania and Teutonic Knights. The result - Poles won and the power of Teutonic Knight’s was broken.

The Thirteen Years' War 1454-1466 - between Kingdom of Poland and Teutonic knights - Poles won. As a result Prussia as a whole was incorporated into the Polish kingdom; the Teutons were allowed to rule only its eastern part as Polish vassals.

XVIth century - 1519-1521 - war between Teutonic knights and Kingdom of Poland - Poles won. Result - the end of existence of Teutonic Knights.

Not bad, innit? :)

Actually, Bratwurst Boy, Germans were never strong enough to destroy Poland completely. The only reason Poland disappeared from the map in 18 th century was because Prussians had help from Russia and Austria and Poland at that time was still very weak after surviving the wars with Russia, Sweden, Ottoman Empire and Cossacks. Still, you didn’t manage to get rid of us for good. Don't think that you ever will. :)

Braturst Boy,
are you German? You live in such a great German city which I have visited on many occasions and I have never encountered a similar attitude as yours?

I have to agree completaly on this one. Besides, there are a lot of Polish living there and a lot visit, do bussiness etc. I always had a great time:)

that's why I am questioning Bratwurst. Sad.
PS. If you lived there before the wall went down it was a different city all together though.

To be fair, I have known some very nice Germans - and met a few a-hole Poles as well.
The world is full of good and bad people..
The Germans also had some great bands in the 70's. tangerine Dream, Can, Nektar, Brainticket - oops have I just admitted that i am an old hippy ?

I've seen two of those bands. I didn't think anyone would know Nektar. I saw them back in the 70's with Kraan.

...(think about relocating?)

You Germans batter be carefull when speak about relocations. You taken too much from my kind.

You know, one day, you would get back all what you have taken by your bloody fingers and by your perfid schemes.

You are of Teutons, mix of native Slavs and Semitic Romans. But, that`s not worse in you. Problem is that you are spiritual abomination and generator of delusions, from old Slavs, remembered as mute people.

Same how you dissoluted Yugoslavia and still dissoluting Serbs, you would be dissoluted one day. And, will be peace in Europe.

I will tell you why there is tension between germans and slavs.
Germans like control,Slavs like freedom.
Germans like organization,Slavs like natural procedures.
Germans like to control and be controled,Slavs like to be loose.
Germans like to build everywhere,Slavs like nature.
Germans like overdense population, cities,Slavs like more space, forests.
Germans value predictability,Slavs value unpredictability.
Germans are on time,Slavs are never on time.
Germans like innovations,Slavs like traditions
Germans like individuality,Slavs prefer family life
etc.
Problem is what germans like is supposed to be the western civilization,so they do not occupy Slavs, they want to civilize them.

Germans like organization,Slavs like natural procedures.

this is very true. Germans and Austrians always were well organized. Beginning with company structure and ending with public transit most things in Germanic countries run like clock work and are organized in a logical, ordered and timely fashion. Even when you drive through Austria it is nice and clean and the streets and sidewalks of towns and villages are clean and the trains run like clock work.

Bratwurst Boy
You MUST have other examples of your "greatness", don't you?

Yes, Bratwurst Boy comes across as ignorant, arrogant, has strong opinions- he's also quite humerous but then so are many others here, I don't see the exclusion shown them as to him.

His last challenge had me scrambling for history books, Matyjasz got in before me with an excellent summary. So isn't this why we are all here- to question, challenge, to learn.

Come on, give him a go.

KS - depends on who you meet - the vast majority of the south (95%) and the north (85%) (figures taken from the Good friday agreement YEARS ago and its better today) Show that peace is the way forward preffered between English & Irish. There are rivalries of course like in any section of life, sports, eurovision, But this is going off topic...

Speaking as an Australian with no Polish ancestry (that I know of), but having read some polish history and talked with a lot of Poles; these issues of relations between Poland and its neighbours go back a long way. Polands borders have expanded and contracted many times over the centuries as Poland or Germany or Russia or Lithuania or another neighbour has been in an expansionist phase. These constant movements have caused on-going animosity between the neighbouring groups as well as leading to mixed populations in the areas that kept changing hands. Over-running a neighbour can only be justified if the neighbour is made out to be less than human, so the cultures of each of these countries have come to rubbish the national character of the others, stereotyping them in the most derogatory terms.

A part of this process, I believe a lot of countries have taken an opportunistic and mercenary approach to Poland. Russia and Germany are just two of them. What about Turkey who's empire reached as far as the Polish Ukraine in past centuries?

What about England? Poland helped Britain before WW2 and Britain betrayed Poland by not opposing Hitler's occupation, then in the battle of Britain, Polish aircraft and pilots made up much of the allied force.

There was a period in past centuries when Poland was indirectly over England in that England was paying tribute to Denmark and Denmark was paying tribute to the Polish King.

Poland is not a weak country, Poland once was bigger than Nazi Germany, just a bit further east. In WW2 Germany was defeated by Russia and who would say Germany was weak?

Of the eastern European countries subjected to the will of Russia I think Poland never lots its individuality. Is Poland a comunist country or a Catholic country? How soon after comunism colapsed and the world sees a Catholic pope?

I believe Poland is a strong nation with a great history.
joepilsudski - America is a cesspool of sexual perversion & the occult... too. Just look at Bohemian Grove.
Bad people are bad wherever they come from and some countries have more blood on their hands than others. Unfortunately there can be no REAL reparations. The harm can't be undone and the dead aren't coming back. Unfortunately also reparations can lead to further war.

Countries that live off plunder eventually fall. Plunder is bad economics.
