What if it's not possible to see the "little star" to start PL Christmas?

I am looking for the answer to my question. What happens if it is cloudy and you can't see the "little star" to start Christmas Eve?

I am trying to reinstate some of the lost polish traditions into our family. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

well, the tradition (at least the version I know) doesn't say you actually have to see the star beofre you can start the Christmas' Eve dinner/supper - so you may just make some observation of the sky in the previous days (if the sky is clean) to figure out at what time the first star shows, I think it's around 5.30-6.00 PM, and to be prepared for an "emergency" (i.e. cloudy sky on the special day)

well thats a tricky one ;)

I always observe the sky and if it happens so that its to cloudy to see anything you can always interpret whatever you see as you wish ;)

(a flying over airplane etc) :)

try not to be to overzelous with all the rules;)

Doesn't matter - it's just a good way to keep the kids occupied while you finish cooking...

Funny you say that, because one year my sister-in-law spotted the space station going overhead and then said it's time to eat until she realised it was moving.

And that's true!! :O)

The first star in the sky can appear in the late afternoon as it will be dark by 4:00pm.

Some people are just getting home from work at this time. So, the star is there when you want it to be there.
