Why do Poles and other Europeans use the Lords name in vain so often ????

Im just curious on this one. Poland is like a major heavy Catholic church going country as many other European countries , but i notice that so many of them even the real Church folks use the Lords name , Jesus name and Marys name in vain ?? Why is this allowed ? It says clearly in the bible not to say it ........

Was it always like this in the old days in poland or is it the new fashion of trying to be cool like the USA and so many other tv programs and movies on tv that use this in vain ????

Because we are not as politically correct or as conservative or as right wing as some Americans.

I didn't check your profile so I don't know if you are american.

Why is this allowed?

Because we live in a free world, and we have freedom of speech.

It says clearly in the bible not to say it

I've got a question for you; Do you believe everything you hear, see or read? No? Then why do you believe everything that was written in the Bible? (It was written by human beings you know!)

Oh, and this is a civilized, and decent explanation, so please let's just leave it that?

:)

you guys all banging me on this subject wont affect me ... all i know that its wrong especially from such God obeying people ...

I never use these in vain ... but using other swear words in my opinion is far better if your angry at something dont use my LORDS Name four your anger please.

I never use these in vain ...

That's your choice.

but using other swear words in my opinion is far better if your angry at something

I don't know, I'm sure someone wouldn't like it if I was using swear words involving some kind of disease. (I mean, there's always someone who could feel offended?) I think you should develop a sense of humour and accept the fact that no one's perfect..

:)

dont use my LORDS Name four your anger please.

Why not? Will your lord strike me down? And even if your lord would, why should you be worried about that? (It's not your life, and it's not your responsibility to tell people what to say or how to behave!)

So please don't tell me what to do, don't tell me what to think, don't tell me how to behave and don't tell me what to believe, because I'm not telling you all of these things either.

:)

Have a nice day.

When is the white bus coming?

We never had a communists' régime, but we swear and curse like it's a crying shame. So what Derek Trotter says is not entirely true. But to be more serious: even though I am not religious at all, I try to prevent cursing as much as I can (gvd!), not because I might offend some 2000 year old god, but it generally doesn't make you look nice as a person. Not that I am *peep* holier than the *peep* Pope, that *peep* anti *peep* condom warrior, but I'm just *peep* saying, do you *peep* hear me? *peep*!

Nowadays you cannot say "oh my god" anymore without being lectured by some ultra conservative catholic. Stupid political correctness (although I don't give a sh*t)... :(

What is blaspheming, away guy? Oh, Jesus is like an appeal for strength. You are calling on the Great Man to come to your aid. How is that in vain?

to be honest i'm not religious so why would i care about saying 'jesus christ' or 'for god's sake' its much more socially acceptable than some other terms i can think of!!!! I would rather use the two examples above in public (if i use any at all) and keep the other ones in the bag for when i'm around people i know and know it won't offend them. Unless that is i'm really annoyed and don't really think about what i'm saying!!!

Some of my relatives use the God D word occasionally. TBH, it bothers me more to hear the F word.

Nothing to do with fashion or the US.
It's been done since before anybody would even dream abut the US. Hence one of the commandments is thou shall not use thy lord's name in vain

HAHAHAHA this is so true, there are some people that think that eeeeverthing has been created in the USA. goshh!!

Anyway, this away guy has some isues with tolerating. I mean if some people decides to say it, then fine. It does not affect your faith right?

You can always tell who the athiests are, because when ever religion is mentioned they get all serious and defensive
JEEZ!! He asked a question. A good one too. He didnt ask why YOU do it. He asked why so many Poles do. So who gives a **** if your not relogious and it doesnt affect anyone. Just answer the damn question or contribute to the post in a positive way or dont post on it.

Dont read the title and click on it to start a religious war on a message board!!!!!!

If your faith is strong enough, away_guy, then you can surely trust that the creator of the universe, who made us in his image and gave us free will and also made EVERYTHING can deal with people in his own way right?

Without you having a problem with how other people live.

In my book, that's called "intolerance".
