Maferz - Why do you want Ritalin ? Frequently unecessary and causes more problems than it helps.

To actually answer your question, as far as I know Ritalin is registered in Poland as Concerta, but is very rarely prescribed.

ADD/ADHD has nothing at all to do with lousey parents.

I had great parents and I still suffer from ADHD as an adult.

I never mentioned ADD/ADHD not all children who are prescribed Ritalin have this condition, it is over prescribed, in many cases to children who lack good parenting, but it's easier to write a prescription.

the same as antidepressants are a great help to those who are suffering from severe depression, but are never the less still over prescribed and given to people who would be better off without them.

Hi, I would like to know if the medication Ritalin (Methylphenidate) is prescribed in Poland (not all countries allow it).

I kind of had the same question about a medicin, lexotan (lexotanil in some countries), some countries classify it as a drug even....
Also fluoxetin I have the same question about...
So if anyone could help, it would be highly appreciated!

you could get Concerta from your doctor but it's very expensive... and most likely he/she wont have "pink prescription" and wont be willing to do that - propably wont know what it is either :) so get ready for a big ????? Actually I had to go to the hospital for 2 weeks to have my doc prescribe it to me... then I found out that you can get it for as cheap as 3-5 pln for the same dose or bigger but only if you get a specjal note from the minister of health ... also it is very complicated process - you need to ask your doctor for this - he will do everything to take you off this idea :) And he's right. It's poison ... I lost too much energy and health wile taking adderall... and polish doctor will treat you like a drug addict if you tell them you want it - I was on it for 2 years in USA and when I got here with my med. history written by shrink - they asked me to throw this out and putted me in the clinic :) Good luck to you! Sorry. And welcome in HEALTHY Poland

Hi everybody, thanx for your answers. But the question remains unanswered:
Is Ritalin available in Poland or can one only get the slow-release Concerta?

Let me add that I am asking because of a legitimate, documented medical necessity.

i think your question was anwered but what you really need to do, even though these people seem to be playing doctor on the internet, is to go to a REAL doctor and talk to him about it. i bet, they will not prescribe it unless you are really whack.

americans take way, way, waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyy 2 many pills, in general.

is it addictive?

I didn't find it addictive, but I only took it to help me stay focused when studying for exams - 1 week max. per semester. Any longer than that and I would start feeling "weird" (hard to explain the feeling). It's amazing how much work i would get done when on concerta, kinda makes me wonder what 'd be like if i took the pill everday...

Quite popular among students during exams here.

It is illegal as an amphetamine.Usually students buy it from children who have diagnosed with ADHD.The penalty if you get caught with it in USA are 6 months in prison I think.

It is addictive but not as much as methamphetamine(crystal) etc.It does not harm kids at all, this is peculiar. And ADHD has neurobiological basis, nothing wrong psychologically with the child, can be treated with ADHD.

An easier way of obtaining ritalin/concerta is by going to a doctor on campus or going to a paki doctor.

There should be a pharmacy at your embassy, and they may be able to help if the Polish system disappoints.

People writing in this thread are completely clueless. Well, have fun discussing parenting and placing bets. Goodbye.
