That is something Poles have no reson to be proud of.
and not meant as an inditment against Poland either, just a little test maybe to see who Im debating with :)
as to the rest, all Im refuting is your statement that britain could not defend herself alone, she could and did,the fall of france was just that,a defeat in france and the low countries but our island was still secure, untill late in 1940,early 41 most colonials( in a respectfull ,non sarcy way) were fighting elswhere in the world, not directly in defence of the british isles themselves.
In 1939 we didnt have thousands of planes dropping bombs on the country, that came in mid to late 1940,(and was hundreds rather than thousands) by which time,I grant you the ranks of the RAF were stuffed with brave lads from all around the world fighting for a commen cause. I dont know if this is just more natural for (the more inteligent) british people to realise this than it is for those from countries without a tradition of close ties to the four corners of the globe. When most people here talk about british forces we are actualy just being lazy and dropping the "and Commenwealth" bit from the sentence as we take it for granted from childhood that some pilots wore turbans and some spoke like crocodile dundee. The British Army as a whole,if including those forces around the globe loyal to the british crown,(and even discounting close ties like those to NZ,OZ and Canada) was huge but overstreched,if we had realy needed more ground troops in the UK Im sure the 1 million + Indianns soldiers loyal to the crown would have been enough for the job,not to mention the nepali ghurkhas.
