I must admit that the British are getting fed up with so many foreigners here. There was a time, a long time ago, when seeing a young Polish person in England was a novelty and we would go out of our way to chat and meet up ect. Now, we just 'grin and bear it' and walk quickly the other way! Two hundred Poles you can distribute but to expect a small country like England to accommodate 600.000 plus is a little much especially when there is no health, school or education provision and to make it even worse, the Government is breaking their own promises on the Green Belt to build more houses in our countryside because of a housing shortage! Where are these 600,000 Poles supposed to live? I very much doubt if Poland would give houses and work to the British.

The only thing I agree with is there is a growing resentment at our Government for mishandling immigration in general,only the lowest educated and hence those with the least to actually offer this green and pleasant land would actualy sink so low as to blame "Poles" for all the problems of chronic underfunding to our health and education services. Yes,in some areas Polish arrivals may have been "the straw that broke the camels back" but that was one over layden animal already on the verge of disintigration so if schools cant cope with pupils who dont have english as a first language that is more a sad inditment of the education departments rather than a reflection on the people who ,quite legally, choose to live here for however long a period of time.

I dont live in some isolated village somewhere, Ive seen my local semi city face a sudden influx of Peoplel in the last couple of years and let me tell you it has been a welcome relief, they arrived and had to at first live in quite crappy areas,those areas have now beeen transformed into the sort of places a young girl can walk through at night rather than the smack head proosie zone it was before where even I ,as a 30 something male would walk through with my car keys in my fist as a potential self defence.

Brits would likely be speaking German if it was not for Americans, Russians, Poles, Canadians, New Zealanders, South Africans etc. Brits simply didn't have enough military power to defend themselves. For instance, their land forces were in size comparable to that of Czekoslovakia.

nonsense,we had plenty for home defence,just look at our main line of defense,the Royal Navy,and tell us again we were lacking, we didnt however have anywhere near enough for offence as is clearly demonstrated by the amazing combination of nationalities in the 8th army etc.

as an ex squaddie there is not a hope in hell the army would allow that. we dont need trash filling the ranks. its not down to the army to sort out civilian problems.

That is something Poles have no reson to be proud of.
Still, there are some (let's call them "mitigating") circumstances;
The land in question (less than 1% of Czekoslovakia) was an area around Cieszyn, which had been previously taken (stolen?) from Poland in 1919 when Poland... was involved in another military conflict and had no troops to spare to defend. Simply, Czekoslovakia took this land from Poland by force. Kinda what goes around comes around here. The 1919 takeover of Polish territories was widely condemned by Western European countries so a referendum was to be held within the area to decide which land would belong to which of the two countries. The referendum never took place.

Also, if that is any consolation, not a single Czech died as a result or Poland reclaiming its lands.


I'm talking September 1939, when Brits had no radar, even fewer pilots than during the Battle of Britain and most importantly, were not expecting thousands of planes dropping tonnes of explosives around their country side. Begining of WW2 was unlike any other attack before that. No country was ready for this. If you stuilll have doubts... how did Brits AND French do in 1940 at Dunkirk? There was simply no country in 1939 that had the military strength to oppose Germans with meaningful results.
