"Green Day" in Poland - need information.

Any information on "green day". Some significance with day of freedom or something like that. Grandfather claimed to have been able to excape induction into "Franz Joseph" army (around 1907) by leaving Poland/Austria on "green day".

In my opinion it is about it but I am not sure.
In Poland we call this day "Matki Zielnej" - August 15

Zielony = green

Thanks. But I think that this "old" custom had something to do with a day of "Freedom" and I am pretty sure it was in the early spring. I appreciate the info and link though!
