I also have no idea where to start.
You have to start by taking notes from family and relatives.
Some family stories will be true, mixed up, or whatever. Some family members might not want to speak about the past. You have to show them how serious you are.
Don't be too shocked, if you find a skeleton in the cupboard. Every family has one.
Make notes as you speak to relatives and then have them check what you have written.
