Condoms and the Catholic church in Poland

There is so much difference within Christianity, beyond the traditional categorisation into Orthodox, Catholic and Protestant. Anglicanism is not particularly Protestant as compared to say Presbyterianism. I know a village with two seperate Baptist congegations. They each believe eachother to be completely wrong!

Also, most Christians around the world hold on, to various different levels, to pre-Christian traditions.

Yes, but at what price?

Does one need to be renumerated for one's sympathy?
Or is it the help bit that involves money changing hands?
I know some ecclesiastical people have been found to be dodgy, but...

I am talking about the human cost of misery and not strictly speaking about financial gain.

re: I taking te cost of sery and not spanking a boat of finncial ga

- And now the Orwellian oinker pretending-to-be-English is playing an expert on condoms and the Catholic Church in Poland! It can oink on any subject, you just name it, and with a new vigour due to its porky self-esteem having been lifted by the fact that Osiol is speaking (should we say braying? ;) seriously to it!

Almost on topic, I see that:

"The head of the Catholic Church in Mozambique has told the BBC he believes some European-made condoms are infected with HIV deliberately.

Maputo Archbishop Francisco Chimoio claimed some anti-retroviral drugs were also infected "in order to finish quickly the African people"."

Well, that's a useful contribution. Here's the article:

news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/7014335.stm - Shock at archbishop condom claim.

Wow ! I hope it's just a big and stupid lie...how can we want to "finish" some kind of people after what happened 60 years ago...

HIV is a fragile virus that doesn't survive for long outside the human body. Even if someone were crazy enough to try to lace condoms with it, I doubt it could survive for long.

Here's hoping the Vatican will slap down Chimoio. But look on the bright side... at least the guy acknowledges that HIV causes AIDS, unlike the (non-Catholic) leader of another African country.

So you don't believe this story is true, do you ? ;)

I believe that Archbishop Chimoio's nonsense was accurately quoted.

A stupid and murderous statement that will cost the lives of people; when will these people learn that they serve the people and God, and not play God with people’s lives. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

To say the Europeans are doing this is paranoid and rascist. Everyone knows its the Jews!

In Catholic religion, having sex relation is bad (except for procreation), it's as simple as that, so how could the Church recommend condoms for something that's forbidden...

If I may offer a correction here. Sex in a marriage is a good thing, and the Church teaches it has 2 (not one) purposes. 1. Procreation, as you mentioned. 2. To keep the marriage together, through the union of man and wife.

The use of any for, of artificial birth control (pill, condoms, etc.) is a sin in that a sexual union between a man and wife is an act of just not procreation, but co-Creation with God. Each time artificial birth control is used, the couple is in effect saying they are smarter than God, or are saying they are denying Him in His Creation.

As far as the main topic here, what the Church is teaching in condoms vs. STDs, is those using such may feel safe from STDs, when condoms are only 88% (about, forgot exact number) effective in stopping such, and not 100% as abstinence is.

Have a read of these. Using a condom is better than not.

the subject focused on Africa and the problem of AIDS there. One student said that maybe if they were allowed to use condoms then this problem would be reduced

In other words, he blame the Catholic Church. Typical leftist lame logic… The church is against condoms at all, they "offer" you sexual abstinence till marriage. If man and woman follow this Catholic teaching then HIV/AIDS is hardly possible. If they don't then they cannot blame the church. It is hardly possible that somebody is so religious that reject condoms but in the same time he don't accept pre-marriage sexual abstinence.

Why wait till marriage ? If you love a girl, if you both take tests, then it's as safe (and a lot more funny) as abstinence till marriage :)
