Car Window Tinting - is it legal in Poland?

Hi everyone, I just purchased a car here in Gdansk, and I wanted to get the windows tinted but I was told that tinting windows is illegal. Is that tru? and if not what is the legal limit? I know in the united states it varies by state but all states let u have tint, just the percentages are different. (I lived in the DC area, Maryland side, and the legal limit was 35% all around except the winshield... altho that didnt stop me from putting 20% on my car.) Thanks for any help.

Is that tru?

tinting the rear half of the car seems ok (from what i've seen), but i have no idea with regard to the law.

Yeah ive seen cars like that, but the all seemed to be wagons or SUV styled cars, and I know some of those cars come from the factory like that.

Windscreen in your car should have at least 75 % transparency, the other windows - 70 %, so it seems they have to be pretty clear. Police have some devices to verify it.

Carlos Tevez has had his Bentley impounded. After getting pulled over for having illegally tinted windows it was found he didn't have a valid licence.

More money than sense.

The Police pulled one of our limo's over once and asked for us to take the tinting off, no sense what so ever by them, as when it was imported from the states they checked the car for everything, including the windows. :/

You could always buy a few pairs of sunglasses for your passengers to wear...cheaper than tinting , and you can take em off when it gets dark , as opposed to driving around half blind and blundering into the path of people on motorcycles....

I dont need tint for that my eyes are good, and I can see great with tint on my car. I want tint to prevent people to look inside my car and see wuts inside, and It looks better compared to a non-tinted car.

tint to prevent people to look inside my car

But do you not think that if its difficult for people to see into the car...it might be just as difficult for people to see out of it.....I am all in favour of people making their cars look cool , but not if i splatter myself and my motorcycle aginst the side of such a machine because the driver could not see me....I came very close to such an accident one night with a Polish BMW with blacked out windows....

Now im not sure about you but I see perfectly out my car with tint on. In the USA I have a Lincoln LS with 20% tint on it,(the lower the % the darker the tint) and have never had a problem seeing from it. I have problems looking into it to see if I left something inside it, but never had a problem seeing out! Im not sure if u kno but tint works like the same way a 1way mirror works (minus the reflective part) U can see out but not see in! I myself am a motorcycle rider, I have a 2007 GSX-R 600 and have had people almost hit me as well, but it has happened to me with cars without tint also. Alot of times they dont see bikes cause they are smaller than an average vehicle. (altho Im not saying for some people the tint wouldnt cause problems seeing)

I agree with you there...most of the time they don,t see you because they don,t look...Apparently Polish law says you can,t have much of a tint , but i see quite a few cars with windows that look as if they have been sprayed black with paint . so i guess the cops do not bother too much enforcing this law....I think in Poland , as long as you don,t take the p*ss and be polite to the cops they wont bother you too much.....

yeah i see a few car like that also. I was hoping to find the exact law on it tho, I really want to get tint but my mom tells me tint at any % is againt the law, (altho u can buy cars with tint on, such as SUV's). Do you know of any polish law websites where I can read up on the subject? Thanks for any info.

Tinted windows to any degree give the coppers reason to stop you and check it. And it seems a good number of the tinted folks are found to be carrying guns and drugs and such, around here anyway. And be sure you haven’t had too many pints.

BTW, what is the legal BAC level in Poland before one gets a DUI?

BAC level in Poland

Don,t know the exact figure , but no doubt somebody does...i do know its quite abit lower than the UK , and one bottle of Polish beer will get you locked up if you are caught driving after drinking it...My Police lady friend confirms what some body already said about tinting windows....front window must have 75% transparancy , the side windows 70% , so thats not much of a tint before you are breaking the law....My friend does say however that she would not pull a car unless it had really dark windows and looked dangerous....

Wow. One beer? That seems a little extreme.
Could you ask your copper girl just what the BAC is?

I think the legal limit is two windows per car. More is forbidden, but you can choose windows to tint according to your wish.

This guy drives illegal.

In Russia ANY alchohol found in the blood and you go to jail...the limit is zero....

This is what the Commies at MADD have in mind for us. They've been chipping away at the legal limit bit-by-bit in their blind zealot march to total prohibition.
