Riff, anyone who claims what you do, knows that preaching to others who dont
want it, should be left alone! and by your antics and name calling I am convinced
you arent true to what you say. its plain and obvious that you are trying to get
under someones skin. Somewhat devilish isnt it?

have good day, and leave those who who would prefer to not hear it alone!

I have my beliefs too, which I happen to believe , but I also get irritated when I
am being pushed into a direction in which I choose to not go!

I make my decisions based on what is interpreted, and that is what it is all about!
Giles hit the head on the nose when he spoke of man making up his own, because
this does happen. and weve discussed that before on other threads.

its best to let one see/choose their own , to which they are comfortable, not
shove it in their face. I dont even think the good man upstairs would want that
as he wants us to come to him when we are ready or need him.

Giles, that might sound far fetched but, the bible is how we interpret it, and what
we believe it to be. Yes, some do go off kiester every now and then.

you have valid points. as do others. but it should never be pushed, it wasnt
meant to be that way.

but it should never be pushed, it wasnt
meant to be that way.

meant that towards riff.

it is good that you found what you needed to find. and it is obvious that
you had hit rock bottom and found sactuary.

Please try to remember that others do have religions/and or non religious
beliefs and everyone has the right to choose what is comfortable for them :)

Fortunately believing in God isn't that hazardous. :) I take under the consideration that he may not exist. A doubt always accompanies faith, but if this faith motivates me to become a better person, than I don't think I loose much. And when I die and nothing will be there on the other side.... then I won't even have the chance to regret for believing in Him, as I won't exist anymore, right? :) Either way, for me it's worth the effort. :)

but what about if your faith... or rather those who tell you what your faith is... motivates you to go and kill in its name... ?

I wuldn't trust "faith like this"

In the end of the day everyone makes his own choices and distnguish what is good and wrong.
I wouldn't say that any faith says to kill other people. There are extemists, sick people who twist it.

the lord is thy shepherd... which makes his followers sheep... and sheep are easily lead...

I wouldn't say that any faith says to kill other people

a woefully large number of conflicts have religious differences at their root... sad... but undeniably true...

and i will race you to three stars... *** :)

im not sure i like what you are implying, ranj... i most definately do not need the crutch of religion to justify any heinous crime i may feel compelled to commit... as a certified loony i am able to plead insanity... should i ever feel inclined to unleasy my mischeivoiusness outside of these cyber confines... :)

I've heard so many stories of people who have been dramatically changed when they decided to give their lives to Christ. People rarely look at that part of religion. It's not all about being controlled by what religious leaders tell them or about religious fanatics. There's a whole world of people out there who see miraculous things happen for them every day. That's another reason some people believe. That's their proof.

If you ask someone why they believe in the bible, they'll probably answer, because it is the word of god.

There are people that are born again Christians, that know Jesus that never read a bible or have seen a bible. I believed that Jesus was God before I met him and I believed he was God when I met him. In the bible Father God himself said Jesus was God. God showed me a vision of heaven where father God himself was looking up at Jesus. If I am a liar that makes Huegal happy. If I am telling the truth that makes Huegal tragic. Do you know that there is a spirit world?? I would guess that you do not believe that Satan exists. Satan wants you not to know God and think Satan does not exist. If you ever become a follower of Christ Satan will show you he exists. Knowing Jesus is God and Satan exists is not a weakness it is a strength. Believe whatever you want but that does not change the fact that Jesus is your God and your creator. Be humble, talk to Jesus, look for Jesus you will be glad.

It looks like it's all back from the beyond. At least now Riff can go back and read what I originally wrote and see that I'm not an atheist. :)

Albert Einstein believed there is a God, and I doubt any of you were more intelligent than him.

He denied the existence of an anthropomorphized God. He also didn't believe in life after death stating such things were utter nonsense. He said there was no permanence of the self. You die and that's it. He clarified the God thing because folks were taking it out of context. He did believe in some sort of intelligent non-personal force, not a person.

And Christians believe in a personalized God? So tell me, how does he look like and from where did you get this description. I'm just curious. :)

No I am not back, I wrote that #330 post before the posts went into cyberspace. I didn't understand your comment about "why should i want to know God. I think it is like saying why would I want to know my dad.

Yes this is true, Einstein believed an intelligent creator designed the universe. Einstein did not believe the universe came about by chance. Einstein also believed black holes did not exist. We now know there are black holes in the center of every galaxy. Einstein felt that Black holes went against the laws of the universe. Einstein denied the person of God. Therefore he did not believe Jesus was God. Einstein did not understand that there is a spirit world. There is a spirit world. Now with the string theories and the new many dimension theories. The spirit world could be part of different dimensions which would make it part of the physical world.

God can take the form of a person. Jacob wrestled with God. God can show you a vision of himself,or in person, however he wants to portray himself and show you. In a vision I looked into God's face and saw many faces. He may present himself to you in a totally different manner.

lol. I meant that the entire thread reappeared all of a sudden after having been gone.

It sounds like you have a good relationship with your dad but not everyone does. Not all fathers are good. Some people would rather not know their fathers. And some people see God as something negative, something they don't want to know. So when you tell them that they're going to be separated from God forever, they don't see it as a bad thing. And the threat of hell isn't going to change their mind. I personally think it's better to say what you find wonderful about God if you're going to want people to want him.

By the way, did you go back and read what I wrote? Here it is: "I'm just saying your Christianese only makes you look like you're in a weird cult and it makes God look unattractive and that's not what he is.

Was jesus really black?!

faith is what you make it out to be, don't let people tell you what to believe! sick of hearing ''god is this'', ''there is no god'' and other bullsh!t. It's you're opinion, there is no truth in what you say, only way you'll know is when you die.

I respect everyones opinion, aslong as you respect mine. That is one-thing I cannot stand about atheists they push they're blevieves onto to people. I have a uncle that is an atheist, almost every time we talk he brings up this subject. I try to ignore him but we seem to only get into fights.

So tell me, how does he look like and from where did you get this description.

The Bible portrays God as someone who gets angry, has regrets, has a short temper, is vengeful, is jealous, etc. These descriptions seem mor like a human and thus the term anthropomorphic. It is incongruent with the technical sophistication of the universe. The two don't mtach and as a result man created God.

Our Bible is a mishmash of manuscrpits which were pieced together by "biblical committees. There aren't any original mss.
