Are Polish People Racist?

Respect! It changes your opinion when bombs go off in bins on Henry st. Dublin on Christmas eve planted by the UVF and in Roches Stores. It IS very different when it happens in your own back yard and the people here in the South feel the same way. All that Protestant /Catholic shit is just nonsense. Its about money plain and simple. Who has it and who does'nt. Who has a job and who does'nt etc.

I'm overjoyed to see you are not a biggot after all. Sorry if you thought i was. Now if only everyone else would do the same then perhaps we could all get on with our lives.

New respect Shelly. Respect where it is due!

Hello everyone!!!! I am glad to have found this page, because everyone in her is so very opinionated... I am a 27 y/o African American female from the United States,,,,,,I am planning to go to Poland with another female friend in November.....We were inveted to poland by two Polish students that I consider to my friends.....I have asked them if their town is racist or should we be cautious about going along with them........I would just like to ask your opinons on that subject......We speak no polish and never really heard anything good or bad about the country to make us not want to go........Also we are business owners.......We offer several different types of telecom related products.......is there a market for internet, dsl, cell phones, and home phones in Poland.........We are partnered with Verizon so it is quality service......................If anyone can answer these questions for me i would appreciate it!!!!!!

I was in Krakow last week- there are lots foreigners there (mainly tourists) not many black people. I was in a bus one day and black girl got in.

quite normal - noone looked at her, noone said anything.

We are tolerant nation even we were closed and isolated country( by communists) for so mnay years.

Hi,

Ive read alot of the posts on this thread. Basically im going to krakow soon for a short break with friends. Most of the group is indian and black.

What i wanna know if anyone can help me out is, should i expect trouble?? (I know if you go looking for trouble you will find it, but thats not what were there for, just a good time)

The only reason i ask this is because a friend (asian) recently came back from krakow and told me he was stared at and was rude to by locals throughout his stay.

Im from the UK, and dont have a racist bone in me. Im not naive and do understand that racism exists everywhere.

What im trying to work out is, is this the case with the majority in poland or the minority, and whats the situation in krakow??

Any replys would be much appreciated.

From my observance, you may get some stares and possibly some words from the drunkin youth that don't know any better. This was primarily late at night. I was even hassled and stared at because I was American...not even black or Indian. If you visit cities that have a lot of tourism, don't expect to run into any trouble. Most of the stares are from those who have never seen a black or Indian and is more of a curiosity. Just stick together and don't walk around alone in the evening. You'll have a fantastic time.

Sometimes they shout to have a good night or have fun in a drunkin stupor and tourists assume that they are being rudely heckled which isn't the case at all. I thin Krakow will be ok for you.

this picture was taken on Lechia Gdansk stadium. there is something really wrong with Lechia Gdansk supporters. it wasn't first time when they behave like this. couple weeks ago i was in Gdansk and i went at the Lechias game. ive seen many people...not only youth but, which is shocking, mostly over 30 and even 50 !!!...there was also mother with his 6 or 7yrs old child in that group!can u believe that??? anyway...they were making terrible noise (monkey sound or sth) every time when black opponent player was near the ball...and they really enjoy it ! i was like cmon where am i ?! ive never seen something like this in my life !

^^^ Well, the league football matches here usually look this way - but the voilence is directed torwards the opponents team and its supporters where many of the matches result in huge fight during or after the match. Skin color dosn`t have as much to do with it - If this guy would be white the people at the tribunes would probably throw something else at him.. for example some time ago in the 3rd league there had been a case when someone had thrown a knife right into the goal keepers back - and the player died - but that wasn`t racially motivated.

skin color does have much to do when it is only criterion why supporters offend opponents player. i am talkin about that sort of situations.

verbal - lookl, this kind of thing happens all round the world, some years ago when I was at a match - Bolton v Villa - the crowd made monkey noises when a black villa player was warming up on the sideline.....and yes in this case women were shouting throw him a banana....you can't just say one nation is racist....

and the player died - but that wasn`t racially motivated.

Blimey that's a bit harsh, and I thought british hooligans were bad...LOL....I was actually going to see if I could see one of teams in Wroclaw play when I visit, think I'll give that a widebirth!

I went to Goa India new year and January, couldn't belive it they are so racist towards black africans and any negroid people. So much to the extent that I heard of american black people refused admition to resteraunts.

Sailed with nigerian catering staff aboard one ship, and one poor steward led a dogs life from the rest, aparently he had the wrong tribal marks on his face, he jumped ship up the creeks probably close to his village.

The point is racism is inbred, to the point of " we don't know why we hate them , we just do" How nieve I was to think back in the early sixties, that thing would change.

never will change,I am afraid.

it depends on people attitude, education, how they were brought up, influence of other people...

That is why it is annoying to call Polish racist we are not more not less racist than other nations.

Yah Poland is sometimes racist like any other place, but showing football grounds isn't exactly trhe most fair representation of racism............I mean look at Spain, remember the racist chants against black English players last year...................

Shelley - ive never said that one nation is racist ! i suppose that this kind of thing happens on more than just one stadium...but...i havent seen such in polish league for a long time. you know, it is xxi century...Gdansk is not a medieval village, i thought that descendants of great defenders of Free City of Danzig and defenders of Westerplatte in II WW, are far from that behaviours. it wasn't just one man or 20, almost the all stadium was doing monkey noises.

of course it is about education, and how somebody was brought up...i think that polish society is very bad educated in that way....besides i think it is somehow connected with an old and specific polish fear of something/someone new.

*nie wiesz:) sorka za razaca literówke

Not bad educated, but bad influence this part of supporters - they have big power there :) - I talked only about this example, because this is not usually on the matches

This is good..

This is a poem supposedly written by an african kid.

When I born, I Black,
When I grow up, I Black,
When I go in Sun, I Black,
When I scared, I Black,
When I sick, I Black,
And when I die, I still black..
And you White fella,
When you born, you Pink,
When you grow up, you White,
When you go in Sun, you Red,
When you cold, you Blue,
When you scared, you Yellow,
When you sick, you Green,
And when you die, you Gray..
And you calling me Colored ??

why should neg*** be in poland when the current genetic makeup of poland is 40, 000 plus years old?

I dont want a mulatto nation here, and I am not intimidated by racial mccarthyism, aka critical theory, aka political correctness.

If you liberals want to make warsaw into detroit, I gaurentee you will have a fight from polish patriots who will not let it happen.
