Hiya ....

Good luck with your venture :o)

What type of customers are you hoping to attract ? 18-30's ? ... or a wider range ?

I hope to be moving to Poland late next year and have a few business ideas, one of which is similar to yours ...... but I plan to be in Krakow ....or maybe Warsaw :o)

Let me know how you get on .... I'm in Poland nearly every month so if it's up and running I'll pop in :o)

Also I have quite a few friends/family/business contacts in Poland, so if you require any help I'll see if I can be of any assistance.

I wish you the very best of luck in your venture, Sury. But unless you have strong ties to Poland and the local community in Czestochowa you may well encounter more than your fair share of difficulties.

Good luck :)

Pub business is risky in Poland I suppose...Poles prefer cheap alcohol from supermarkets:)But pub can work in big cities in touristic regions....

Poles prefer cheap alcohol from supermarkets:)

Oh really..? I used to live in a small town of 60 000 and there were lots of places to go (ranging from typical restaurants through pizza places through night clubs to pubs and cafes) - and they were (and still are - I recently visited) packed on a daily basis. If not, then fullish during the week and packed at the weekends. ;-) Not a new phenomenon either. I can't speak for tiny hamlets though.

My experience is not that Poles prefer cheap booze from supermarkets but that they do stay at home with friends to drink sometimes more than say in the UK where being with your mates usually means going out to pubs, clubs, cinemas etc. And when Poles do go out they tend to 'go large' as we say. Bottom line is probably that the number of successful bars per population size in Poland is less than in some other countries which means that to be succesful requires you to have some good selling points and to work harder at attracting and retaining patrons.

My g/f is from Czestochowa. It sounds like an uber religious small town place from what she says...

Good luck anyway.

My experience of expats starting bars in Poland is that they tend to get shafted by one person or another.

Częstochowa, never been there. A few pieces or bits of advice adek. We don't say advices, like we don't say knowledges, furnitures, news's, etc etc.

I'm not criticising, just dishing out free advice

True that, it happened here in Gliwice where the property owner tried to hike up the rents to an exorbitant level. Ruthless, especially on and near the rynek.
