do these all follow the same rule? im beginning to learn this about polish.
possibly there are a few exceptions

ok here are my examples :

jeden kwiat
dwa kwiaty
trzy kwiaty
cztery kwiaty
pięc kwiatów.........there should not be any other way of spelling flower?

jeden nos
dwa nosy
trzy nosy
cztery nosy
pięc nosów.......not sure if that is correct.........im just trying to see if polish follows a gramatical pattern. I know it does ( but with a few exceptions i guess) maybe not in this example

cheers :))

czy to jest poprawnie?

Nouns in Polish have 7 cases + plural so a normal Polish noun has 14 different forms (usually some forms share the same declension). The two nouns in your examples are regular male gender nouns. The reason why they differ after different numbers is because different numbers take different cases/number.

1: nominative singular
2-4: nominative plural
5 and above: genitive plural

22-25, 32-35 etc also take nom. pl.

You should read some book that goes through the Polish grammar systematically. Trying to analyze different patterns in Polish without knowing anything about the rules is not going to work well with a complicated language like Polish.

hi thanks for answering but i kind of know this

the 2 nouns i picked : regular male nouns......

im just wondering if they would all change in the same way (thats regular male inanimate nouns) i know different nouns change depending on the gender and if they are animate or inanimate

cheers

For example, the singular genitive ending can be either "-u" and "-a" even for inanimate masculine nouns. It's "kwiatu" but "nosa".

Several other differences exist as well. If you want to delve deeper into Polish noun declension, you can check out this page:

Derevon
22-25, 32-35 etc also take nom. pl.

To be exact:
0 - takes genitive pl.
1 - nominative sg.
2,3,4 - take nominative pl.
5-20 - take genitive plural
21, 31, 41, ... - take genitive pl.
22-24, 32-34, ... - take nominative pl.
25-31, 35-41, 45-51,... take genitive pl.

You would say: "0 kotów, 35 kwiatów i 44 nosy"

Oops, I meant 22-24, 32-34 etc take nom. pl. of course, not 22-35...
