Language / Learnign Polish...any tips!? [33]

I've been trying for about 3/4 months and i'm just starting to get the hang of it, but i suppose i have no software etc. All I have is translatica.pl, a Polsko-angielski dictionary and a small phrasebook. I learn by making online friends on sites such as bebo and talk to them and try get them to teach me :p Otherwise, it's going to be really hard learning a language without people there to correct you and show you about the language etc. (: x

Love / Things not to do with a Polish girl? [97]

So don't tell her you like her.
Instead, ask her if she knows you like her. That's not as direct ;)

or there's an easier option! :p

Learn how to say it in Polish and you wont feel as awkward?
I'm sure if you said that to her, she wouldnt feel you were being too direct, I think she would think it was really sweet of you (:

I say you just go for it and see what happens.
Because if this is getting you down, you can't just hang on forever waiting to see if anything will happen.

Language / Why do people want to study Polish? [90]

In my schools, we get Primary school for age 5-11 year olds.
then we go on to a High School for 12 - 17 year olds.
Primary 1 - Primary 7
Then, Year 1 to Year 6. in year 4 we do our GSCE'S then year 5 and 6 we get a choice whether to do Highers/advanced highers or whether to leave school.

Complicated haha.

Usaully I get, "Curttiss Ladd... Why ya like a polish person?!?.."

I get that ALL the time.
I live near Glasgow in Scotland, so the place is PACKED with chavs.

But generally, I like Polish boys that either have girlfriends or dont think I'm attractive ):
I asked one boy to go to the cinema with me. And he said to me 'Sorry I cant tomorrow. Maybe next time' and I was speaking to a Polish friend of mine, and she said 'Polish boys think it's rude to tell you that they are not interested'

Which hurt me :/ cause I would rather him tell me that he is not interested that leave me hanging.
But he laughs at my jokes, he smiles and speaks basic Polski to me. But he just confuses me :/

Hope things sort out soon Curtis.
Why don't you just ask her about the ignoring thing?

2. Europeans (esp. Brits) want to speak Polish to be able to communicate with Poles who settle in their countries (?)

I'm learning because of that yes.
and Because I plan on emigrating to Poland in the future (:
