Life / Animosity between Poland vrs. Polonia? [98]

Sometimes I get a feeling there is a certain amount of animosity between Polish People permanently living abroad and the people in Poland.
Polish people in Poland sometimes are distrustful, envious and even hostile towards Polish living abroad.
On the other hand they accuse Poles living abroad of looking down and frowning upon Poland. In their opinion, if you decided to leave Poland and settle down elsewhere, take on a different citizenship, or you were born outside Poland, then you shouldn't call yourself a Polish anymore. They don't like when Polonia votes in Polish elections, and to be honest I can see their point.

USA, Canada / The 2nd Amendment (USA), the right to own guns [261]

Hunting is so popular in Michigan, that we have "hunting widows" here. When the deer hunting season starts in November, about a million men goes up north to hunt. There are so many "widows" (lol) left behind, and many of them like to go out and have "some fun'', it is considered a busy time for the bar industry. If you are a single guy looking for an easy lay, the deer hunting season is it :)

At the same time there are many thousands of "hunting prostitutes" going up north to keep company for the men. They come from all over Michigan, out of State and Canada LOL!

USA, Canada / The 2nd Amendment (USA), the right to own guns [261]

This may be helpful: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution#Text

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

This is the actual language of The Second Amendment - now some may say that all it says is that a "regulated Militia" has a right to bear arms, or is it "the people"?

History / JFK in Detroit Michigan at the American Relief for Poland [12]

sorry, the shine came off JFK for me a long time ago,he "looks good on film" but on record,a disaster

You've got to be kidding me. JFK had saved the world from WWIII during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Thank God we had this coolheaded and decisive man in the White House at the time. It's scary to think what the world would look like now if that was someone else in there... It was the closest the World came to the end ever.

USA, Canada / 2008 U.S. Presidential Election according to Polish and foreign people [90]

Did anybody see Obama doing Top 10 List on Letherman? It's hilarious! LOL

Obama (...) and his Afro-centric church membership

This is nothing but a bunch of bologna. It's just a propaganda lie made up by people like Limbaugh, Hannity, Liddy and other bottom-dwelling Murdocks from Fox News. The same people sold us lies about WMD in Iraq, NAFTA, "free trade with China", "protecting the Southern Border", these are the people who will stop from nothing, even outing a covert CIA operator. I can't believe that anybody still trust them. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice... how does it go? :)

Today is the Super Tuesday - who do you think will win?
My bet: Obama amongst the Democrats and McCain amongst the Republicans.

News / Will Poland become green? [122]

Will Poland become green?

The first step for Poland to became green is to get rid of it's dependence on coal. Coal is by far the worst polluter, especially as far as CO2 goes. That means stop mining it and stop exporting it, in other words: close all the coal minds, power plants, heating stations etc. It won't be easy or painless, that's because Poland's economy is based on coal.

But what's next? Surely you don't want to move out to a cave and sit around a fire? Oh, wait, that's also not an environmentally friendly way...

In my opinion the best bet is nuclear, the only thing is that Greenpeace opposes nuclear too.

So what's your opinion?

News / Polish C-295M Crash [47]

Oh shoot... It looks like they were on a way back from attending a flight-safety conference. I can already hear those jokes on the late-night TV.

News / Polish C-295M Crash [47]

something years ago (circa 1986?) and a huge airliner crashed outside Warsaw and at least ten times that number were killed.

I guess he is right. 183 fatalities in 1987 LOT Polish Airlines Flight 5055

Of course it doesn't make this tragedy any lesser :(

USA, Canada / Dear American Poles, look how much Brits make in Poland [28]

polophobia is strikiing i see. ;) :D

That's why I've said "With all to you respect - I love Polish People and Poland". I just didn't want to be misunderstood and change the subject of this thread to "where is the live better - Poland or the US".

USA, Canada / Dear American Poles, look how much Brits make in Poland [28]

Maybe you should consider coming back to Poland ... and become teacher ;-) here

No can do. My wife and kids don't speak Polish, we have jobs, schools, friends, family, oh yeah, don't forget the bills to pay:) and honestly $24/h is not that great, and how much is to buy or rent a house there, buy new cars, insurance, how about if you get sick - I wouldn't want to lend up in a Polish hospital... and what about the corruption, the bureaucracy. With all to you respect - I love Polish People and Poland, but they have a lot of problems there, there's got to be a reason for all those millions of people to leave the country to work for a minimum wage in GB.

News / Has global warming affected Poland? And in what ways? [73]

Has global warming affected Poland? And in what ways?

IMO Global Warming will affect Poland’s economy in a big way. There are IPCC plans to put a $30-$100 tax on every ton of CO2 and coal is the biggest CO2 polluter out of all the energy sources used by man today. Coal has been a pillar of Poland's economy, that's why taxes on CO2 will hurt them so much. Unfortunately, unless some radical steps are taken now, this will surely throw Poland down the bankruptcy path.

Life / Racist violence in Poland [172]

Read this Sadek (Wikipedia):

Ethnicity and religion
In terms of ethnicity, Poland has been a homogeneous state since the end of World War II.
(...)
About 97% of the population belongs to the Roman Catholic Church, with 58% as practising Catholics

Food / Smoking Food in Poland [17]

Maybe instead of a smoker you should build yourself a barbeque? A smoker is a great idea, but a barbeque is more useful. Or can you use a smoker as a barbeque also? I don't know...

Life / Racist violence in Poland [172]

I think you are 100% right, Clickyclock.

They live in wretched neighbourhoods, in wretched accomodation with wretched jobs so all they have to hang on their chest with pride is that they are white and therefore superior and justified in attacking non-whites.

Add to that sometimes educated and intelligent people are being forced by the economic realities to do often demeaning and underpaid jobs abroad striping them from personal pride that comes with individual achievements in life.

My hope is one day when the standard of living and the economy get better, maybe then things shall change?

Seems something about being under the Soviets.

Yeah I noticed the level of nationalism is similar to the one in former Yugoslavia after the fall of communism. Thank God Poland is a country without national or religious minorities. Who knows what would have happened then.

USA, Canada / Polish cuisine in South West Michigan? [5]

The Three Brothers is a family restaurant in Plymouth, MI with excellent food, good service and very moderate prizes. The interior look is clean, although simplistic. My favorite idems on the menu are stuffed cabbage and barley soup, both of them are outstanding.

The Three Brothers Restaurant is definitely worth checking out. Smacznego!

USA, Canada / Cleveland couple and expired visa [15]

Yeah, but U.S. is 2x as big and has 2/3 of population of EU. We have room! Plus no migrant worker from EU would ever travel here to compete with the South Americans. It costs to much to travel and Europeans stand no chance in competition w/South Americans.

USA, Canada / Cleveland couple and expired visa [15]

I think if the story had been about a Polish guy who was illegal and was robbing stores and old people no one would complain about his deportation, it's more the fact that it was a young family.

I agree. If you ask me we should open our borders to the EU. Why not?

USA, Canada / Cleveland couple and expired visa [15]

the fact that recently, I even described it in a post about a man who was mexican
came over and killed three kids , then we had the other guy who killed
all those college kids. and a dedicated family of Polish who are willing to do anything
it takes to stay in the states and be productive citizens are getting shafted!!

I agree that this really sucks, but on the other hand you just can't say that you will kick out all the illegals from Latin countries and let illegal White Europeans stay. I don't think that UN and ACLU would like this idea very much.

Do you have breakfast, lunch, dinner, supper?

Breakfast: coffee, more coffee, cereal and coffee, then some coffee.

In the car on my way to work: a double espresso coffee.

Lunch: soup and a salad or a salad and a sandwich and... ice tea (sometimes coffee)

On my way home in the car: a double espresso coffee.

Dinner: enchiladas, or pasta, or tacos, or stake, or whatever w/ a side of salad and a beer or two or half a dozen.

Love / BLACK GUYS POLISH WOMEN [809]

Polish chicks' attractions to Black Men?!

Yeah, I see it all the time at work. I see Polish girls with Black guys out on a date. But I also see Polish dudes with Black girls. I also know a couple of Polish/African-American marriages. That's good.
