Life / Aster - how the hell does it work?? [4]

Hi,

I have a new flat. It has aster in it - it comes through the wall, into a little box. From the box, i get my phone, internet and tv. Simple.

But it isn't. I can only get 2 of the 3 to work (phone, tv, OR internet), never all of them.

From the wall is one of those two prongs to connect wires to (you screw them onto the connection in the wall). There is a wire going from that to my little box. Then the box gives me phone and internet. But nothing to connect to the tv.... If I instead plug the wire from the wall into the tv (instead of the little box), the tv works. But of course the internet and phone do not.

So I bought a new wire to connect the other little prong in the wall (there are two, one goes to the little box) to the tv. But it doesn't work - it appears only the connection in the wall marked "TV" works, the other one saying "R" does not.

how do I get the three things to work???!

help!

Travel / Snowboarding in Poland [75]

Thread attached on merging:
Snowbarding in poland

hi,

i'm coming to live in krakow for a month from this weekend. I'd like to hire a snowboard and boots if possible and get on the slopes. I know zakopane is very busy at weekends (the only timer I can go boarding), so are there any other good, recommended places to go perhaps even nearer to krakow with less people? i am pretty new to boarding so don't need many slopes, just space on them!

thanks

Life / Quality and availability of Sky channels in Warsaw [5]

Cesc!

I know there are some threads about this but they don't really answer the specific questions I have.

i'm moving to Warsaw in 6 weeks and am thinking of "bringing" Sky with me. i will be living on the 4th floor where there is already some kind of one-metre dish on my balcony. so at worst, if it is the wrong type of dish, I can replace it with another correct dish to get Sky (but may be limited to that size of dish). My questions are:

1) What is the quality of the reception on those channels I can get likely to be like?
2) Apart from BBC and ITV (which i understand you can't get without a massive dish), are there any other major channels that won't be available?

3) If i subscribe to Sky Sports and movies, will I get them?! Or will I be wasting my money!?

Cesc i boze narodzenia

Life / Polish dentists - good and cheap? [84]

Looking at LondonChick's thread too, I'll definitely wait until Poland and chew to my heart's content in the meantime. Thanks all.

Life / Polish dentists - good and cheap? [84]

Hi,

I'm moving to Poland from the Uk in a couple of months. I've heard dentists are both good and fairly cheap in Poland - does anyone recommend getting dentist work done in the Uk prior to coming for any good reason - I'm thinking of getting my teeth whitened (not to look like a Californian, because they are a bit discolored after 30 years of chewing).

Thanks

Tim

Life / Wheres a good spot to play tennis in Warsaw? [8]

Is there really nowhere good to play?

I'm moving to warsaw in a fewmonths and hope that, come summer, there will be a few clubs to choose from or at least goodish courts to use.

Life / Where to buy Marmite in Warsaw? [35]

I'm coming to poland at the weekend.....seems like the black (and gold) market is there for a suitacase of Marmite....

Isn't it funny how marmite tastes SOO good, yet Promite tastes so bad, while vegimite tastes plain average...?

Study / Staying with a Polish Family in Krakow to Learn English [6]

Czesc,

I'm moving to Poland next year and my work will give me time off to learn polish in February 2008.

I am booked to do a 4 week course with a University in Krakow and would ideally like to stay with a Polish family / Polish people to help my Polish during this time. By then I will have done 3-4 months of Polish training in the UK, so will be able to speak (badly...) and understand (a bit less badly...).

Any ideas? Google has not really helped me...

Dziekuje bardzo i do zobacenia
