Travel / Best hotel in WARSAW, near the center? [14]

Le Regina is nice - though not sure if it would fit in with yoru budget.

Or if you fancied something a bit quriky, there is the Castle Inn near the Old Town, which has some really quriky interiors, and is rather unique.

Law / A FREE PIECE OF ADVICE, look into recruitment companies in Poland [12]

The agencies have got all the bases covered.

Agreed. I have met some recruitment agencies from the UK who set up offices in Poland to ride the wave of migrant workers in 2004, bringing them to the UK - now they are placing Poles who have spent some time in the UK into jobs in the UK.

But its only an idea I didn't tell you that you definately have to get all your money and put it strait into recruitment but I personally think that it could be a good area to explore.

it might seem like I am dismissing this idea off hand, but I have in fact explored this as an option. Between us, my business partner and I have about half of the contacts and the skills that we would need, however recruitment is pretty tough if you don't have any experience in the market - it's one of those things that looks so straightforward on paper.

Travel / Nice place to holiday in the North of Poland? [26]

I'm going to be staying at Hotel La La La in Sopot at the end of March - seems pretty reasonable. Check out lalala.lu

Also see the December edition of Discover Poland magazine - it has a special pull-out section on Gdansk, but it also mentions a few places to stay, including apartments in Tri-City (which includes Spopot).

Law / A FREE PIECE OF ADVICE, look into recruitment companies in Poland [12]

If everyone thought this way, nobody would ever start up a business and nobody would ever make any money.

Fair point, however you can't just say that "there aren't enough XYZ in Poland - here's an opportunity". You need to look at the over all market. Employment seems all up in the air at the moment: Are Polish migrant workers in the UK and Ireland returning back to Poland? Nobody knows - in spite of the stats quoted in the Daily Mail etc. there are no real figures. I've met plenty of Polish professionals who've returned to Poland after a stint in the UK, only to come back to the UK because they found it tough to settle / were considered "too cosmopolitain" by some Polish employers. True, Poland needs labour to build the new stadiums and all of the other development plans, but many of the workforce is coming from places liek the Ukraine. Meanwhile, there is high unemployment in various pockets of the country.

See - not so black and white.

have a decent website built and a good SEO company put you onto the front page of google etc

Build it and they will come?? A very naive approach to business me thinks. Who are they? And where will they come from?

Travel / Poland is becoming too expensive to visit. It is a nice country, but [46]

Concerning the night life, I dont know what other cities of Poland are like but the Trojmiasto area is like a ghost town at night.

Never been to Warsaw or Krakow?

Surely the bars and clubs in Trojmiasto come into their on during the summer months?

Cancun??? Are you sure about that? Spending my days with overweight sunburned Brits and Americans who are pished off their head on cheap and nasty tequilla is not my idea of a holiday.

What makes Poland great as a travel destination is the fact that it offers something for everyone... beaches, lakes, mountains, cities with a lively nightlife... I don't get people who say that it's not as cheap as it used to be. OK, so you'll get less for your money, but is it really a holiday when you're counting the pennies? So a beer there might cost about 40p more now than it did five years ago.... what about the ambience of a place?

Those whpo only went to Poland because they thought that it was "cheap" are completelyt missing the point.

Language / Polish Radio / podcasts for children [6]

I'm a big fan of Radio Orla which is a UK based internet radio station. orla.fm

They also have an English language show at the weekends - interesting aspects of Poland / Polish culture etc in English.

Travel / Advise on how to dress in Poland (40 yo man) [10]

No idea how you normally dress, but people in Poland don't dress any differently to anywhere else in the world that I've visited.

My dress-sense could be described as a but OTT some time, so I do tone things down just a wee bit when I'm in Poland. But other than that, you'll find people dressed in H&M, Benetton, Boss etc. rather than floral embroidered dresses (on the men LOL!!!).

UK, Ireland / What are the best flights Glasgow to Krakow? [9]

I have now checked out wizz air who do indeed go to Katowice

Hmmmm..... so that link wasn't any good then :(

Long live Ryanair!

I like Ryan Air - Ok, their colour scheme makes me feel a bit sick, but other than that, I've never had any reason to complain about them - and I fly with them quite a lot.

e are cylcing down on the Krakow-Dunajec path wich follows a river valley I think
then a 6 day wander through the Ponidschje region. Should be good

Excellent - sounds like a good trip. Mind if I ask what inspired you to go there?

UK, Ireland / What are the best flights Glasgow to Krakow? [9]

Surely Whizzair flies from Glasgow

Not according to the link that I posted - which is pretty accurate. Wizz only fly Glasgow to Gdansk.

But you're right in that Katowice would be a good alternative to Krakow.

Hi Ken (you're not my Uncle Ken who lives in Barrhead, are you??)

Check out the list of flight connections and airlines on this link

Looks like Ryan air is your only option from Glasgow - could you fly from Edinburgh? That way you could fly with Easy Jet?

Tell us more about your cycling trip....
