History / Should Germany claim to be the victims in Poland? [510]

bockwurst...

do you really believe that nationalistic people like you are the future for germany?
do you really think that you have anything serious to contribute to our culture?
has germany not gone through all this once already?
don't you think that the intelligence in germany will prevent this aggression against our neighbours that you represent?
isn't it people like you and the likes of you that always only make it into the media for any violent acts against foreigners (amongst others) for example?

do you really believe that anybody is taking these people serious through these acts?
do you believe that on here people take you serious?

i mean... wake up, boy!

btw i do not hate east germans as large parts of my family live there. what i certainly DO hate is uprising of far right nazi tendencies amongst low educated visionless unemployed young people who follow the wrong idols...

the time of the "falksters" is going to end

i like that... having a period of time named after me... it is going to end?? i don't think so...

idea of center is supported by Merkel and her gov

i do not understand why our chancellor is in favour of this centre especially after the very recent things going on between our two countries. it looks like there is a lack of sensibility...

Her father was wermaht officer in occupied Poland after 39 (together with German forces) she moved to Poland after WWII expeled ... now is going to build the center with strong gov support ... she is the face of expeled people form Poland ...

and that is one of the reasons why the centre is very controversial...
you would expect our gov though to back off in face of these facts. not to do so simply shows how bad the current gov in germany actually is...

we should not forget though that we talk about a rather small centre/museum which will loose initial attention relatively quickly ( iam not saying that to justify it!) and we should not make it bigger in this discussion than it actually is...

the whole thing makes me shake my head really...

not so much because one or the other in here is right or wrong but more because i think a different approach is needed within europe at all...

edit

I don't think that Germans think they are the victims of Poland, and i don't think that a so-called museum would change anything.

well said... and true...

i'm really sorry that you guys had to go through that apparently the whole night.

BB seems to like twisting history as it suits his views and only randomly relating to other peoples posts as in some points you guys actually make good points.

i am sorry that he is attacking your nation verbally and plays the "superior german" game all the time. please do not give in and lower yourself at his level as this would just mean we all normal people go backwards...

i'm embarrassed that BB is actually living in my hometown and he should know better but i wrote already about his resistance to understand (and accept) the obvious...

i can only hope that your views of todays germany are not getting blurred by the way BB tries to show it. he might consider himself a good and representative german, 70 years ago many people in germany would have agreed... today he is part of a desperate minority...

controversy about the Expellation at all...IT HAPPENED

sure it happened. i know the facts too. question is though WHY they did get expelled in the first place? whose land it was originally and how they got it...

why do you constantly ignore that this coin has two sides too?

where did you get this kind of logic and can I have some

it's called education...

the fact nazis killed millions of jews amongst others during the third reich is widely accepted as having been wrong amongst germans... no controversy here, right?

edit:

Yeah...well...we managed inspite of all this paying.
I mean we even pay right now millions for other EU countries (also Poland) and still we manage somehow

okay... now it's getting ridiculous.

i'm out of here... at least for today...

BTW I told you that he is going to prove everything

you know the thing with governments...
are you egreeing with everything your gov in poland does? no matter which party just is in it? highly unlikely.

in germany at this moment we have a coalition of the two biggest parties which is the worst and weakest coalition possible as there are no strong parties to oppose. our chancellor is from the conservatives so now wonder that some people in the gov think positive about the centre.

does the majority of the people? no.

it WILL be build, the decision already fallen

might be. but the controversy about it shows clearly that not everybody in germany agrees with it... and more importantly that it is not representative for a general change in german politics or our dealing with our past...

You give a rat's ass about your people, about your history!

wrong. read instead to bark...

if a Pole reacts that way it's their right
and understandable

okay... and as "good" germans we have to agree with everything OUR country (gov or other institution (ie authority)) does?
people with THAT mindset, not reflecting or questioning, people like YOU, where the ones that made hitler and the third reich possible in the first place... congratulation! THIS is something you can be very proud of...

You better stay internationalist there in England!

no other plans at the moment...

I was part of Nazi propaganda ... it is fact

are you joking me??
in school we learn about this story every single year. it is not up to you to try to teach me something...

If your question was, "should Nazis claim to be the victims in Poland?" my answer would be no.

thanks. finally someone makes a difference between diluted stupid and normal german people...

here a little list of some very famous and respected people who support this center too!

ah okay.
nice to meet you for the first time and good that you start right away with the name calling. that should make it easy to value your post as what they most certainly are.

opinions of a stupid minority that apparently still believes in the "herrenrasse".

right you are though... that is a very nice LITTLE list...

One in Four actually!

does that have anything to do with the fact that in most parts of the former east germany the number of unemployed people is pretty much the same? ;-)

I HAD to come back

i strongly hope that you disappear as quickly back into your cave instead of giving others the impression the majority of germans would follow stupid ideas...

When the brats appear, the falksters disappear

sorry. but i have a life too. but in some point you are right. if there would be more people like like this bratwurst person in germany i would not set foot into my country. not because i believe it is not worth it but because i would have lost all my belief in my fellow countrymen...

this idiot will help us to prove our statemnets

probably. and he does not even realise it... but then... in his opinion germans dont need to realise anything as we are superior anyway... this diluted vision makes live actually quite a bit easier... for the braindead...

I much prefer a nationalistic Pole to an "internationalist" with no pride in his heritage at all

that just shows your obvious resistance to learn of our history...
i am very proud of part of our heritage but i am not blind to not see that a lot went wroong as well...

most of the others in this thread (as in the other poland-germany thread) actually get my point even if some of them disagree (which is fair enough) or respect it in a way so that there can be an interesting discussion. mr bratwurst in contrary is just barking like a dog in almost all threads where i came across him and resisting to be part of a constructive discussion.

so i believe there is not much more to say to him as there are other (more enjoyable) ways to waste my time.
you polish guys in here... with germans like that i can fully understand where your resentments come from... sorry for that... most germans are not like that...

but idea of this center is strongly supported by your gov

wrong.
discussions about it are around since decades and nothing ever gets done. if the gov would be up for it it would have been built already. our gov fails though to send a clear signal i have to admit...

There was one German idea, maybe some people dont know about it, but I think that one day they will read it in press ... Poles started WWII in 1939, yes we atacked Germany first

where is this going now???
okay it is the weekend... did you have some drinks?? :D
(well... i did...)

Poor Gerries had to defend themselves

you too had some drinks?? :D

start to become a funny thread now...

but on some levels we just cant cooperate

unfortunately the ones quoted here are almost all lying in the past and therefor hardly can be changed.
time to look into the forward direction...

gave Germany and other EU countries a hard time to try and get what he wanted, what was the best for his country

these are two different pairs of shoes! if every gov in europe would have acted like this there would be no EU in the first place...

and then there was celinski somewhere asking if i am russian or german...
well. you probably followed this thread quite a while than you will know the answer already...
i am german...

German technologies like making soap form human body

not a specifically GERMAN technology...

shouldn't have led to the ovens

eye for an eye??

German way of thinking

did you actually READ the article??

than you came across this:
But that is highly controversial, and many politicians and other groups in Germany are opposed to the idea.
as is the majority of germans...

time to speak up Poland

against what?
a minority of diluted yesterday's germans?
that would only give importance to something that is not worth it...

News / Polish-German Relations in the Present [697]

I had nothing to do with what that generation did! Why do I have to tip toe around on eggshells? To hell with this! This is MY life and I will live it my way. (Of course this would get me in a LOT of trouble in Germany). So what would happen?

agree.
in my case it lead to me leaving germany and being proud to be a german in england. and you know what... people here appreciate me for this.

the good thing for me now is that i can be proud of living in england embracing their way og live and if i feel like i can be "the german" at any given time. it's great...

a pressure cooker eventually blows

as i said somewhere earlier. germany is not going to blow in an aggressive way anymore. so much we learnt from our history...
i don't feel the pressure and holding back thing in germany as something that urges to eventually burst...

(we can and do say say pretty much anything, idiot or not!)

i bellieve you glorify slightly in saying this but that would be again material for another thread...

Was it really so? Was it really 50-50? Is it really always so relative that there are no those who are worse and better in given circumstances?

not in any given circumstances (ie historical period) but overall i would agree that we are very close to 50-50. maybe 49.8-50.2 but still i believe we should look into the future and respect each others past...

going back further andf further in history will eventually show that once we were running through the forrests with sticks hunting mammooths... ;-) you know what i mean.

you are American and the view conveniently justifies the conduct of the United States towards many nations, such as Native Indians, Vietnamese, Latin Americans, Iraqis

touché! ;-)

But in the US, Canada, UK, national flags are put out everywhere.

which is a good thing, isn't it? a HEALTHY identification with your heritage should be normal. remember the world cup last year in germany? i wasn't there but for the first time since ages german flags were waved like that without being a threat. i believe the germans were good hosts... now we should build on that...

EDIT:

As the result some Polish organizations started to count how much Germans should pay for what they did ...

today nobody should pay anymore for what happened at ww2....

if Germans try after 60 years get some properties, why the hell we shouldnt try to get sth ... (way of thinking)

absolutely right. which proves that this (small) minority of backward thinking germans should shut up! and yes our gov fails to make a point in this...

We have to solve this issue.

agree

Yes most of nowadays Germans dont live in the past but this part which live in the past is really annoying

couldn't agree more.

you know me by now. this issue does us both no good in looking forward to live with each other. i simply hope that in poland are people genarally thinking "yes there is a small group of silly germans, but the rest seems to be okay"...

you know what i mean.
don't let this issue ruin or hinder a growing relationship between our nations within europe...

Falkster appears to be a completely different type of German

thanks for that puzzler...

i see myself rather than an internationalist...
was traveling a lot, lived and worked in south america, now in england... that puts many things into perspective...

knowing our history it is quite easy to understand that germans are always educated (at school for example) so that they are not allowed to have any hint of patriotism. in germany when you were waving a flag you would quickly be put into a far right corner...

this is actually quite a sad story if you compare it for example to the english people who (today) have a rather relaxed way of patriotism and can easily joke about their certain inabilities (that is actually enough material for a seperate thread)...

however in germany we all had to look for a different ways and means of identification, which (amongst the more educated) lead to a more open mind and tolerance...

we know our our history and therefor are able to prevent it from repeating itself...

however there are a few idiots... but they are a minority and not representative for todays germany...

i'm most certainly not one of them, what matters the most to me... ;-)

edit:

what his underlying intentions are.

trust me there are none. if i have learnt one thing in life than it is to clearly say what i think and not to hide my intentions. this way it is up to everyone else to decide if they want to deal with me or not. what you see is what you get...

not always easy in england i have to admit... ;-)

Ive checked they want to build it ...

i know that they are going to build it.

your information is wrong though, or you allegedly express it this way, that germans would present themselves there as victims of ww2... THAT is what i meant you are wrong with... ;-)

people in germany who really believe they are victims of ww2 and the aftermath are a very small (and stupid) minority... and the organisations you are speaking of are seen and discussed very controversially. the vast majority of germans live in the present, not in the past.

regarding all the historic blah blah...
do you believe poland would be better off if they had "their" land back and the borders shut again?

isn't the tendency in europe not going more and more towards opening borders?
think this idea a bit more into the future (instead - and that is for everyone - always looking up history books). eventually borders will be a thing of the past and we can all live with our local and regional traditions but peacefully and in mutual respect for each other...

should we not appreciate what we have got and see how we can develop from there? people today are so much lacking vision and therefor have to look backwards...

i believe it's wrong...

edit:

... it is history get over it ...

exactly...

and as such it should remain where it belongs...

in the past.

no problem with that...

Life / New Polish I.D. card. [Dowód Osobisty] - big fine if you don't apply [55]

my gf is just back home in szczecin and after having her id stolen in the uk she still has to go through the whole stupid procedure again.

in szczecin there are very long queues to apply and on the website it says "zero people waiting" from about 10am... so you would think it is empty... as a matter of fact they just close the doors at 10am as there are too many people already!!!

how do they expect everyone having applied for the id before the end of the year?
or are they just waiting to fine people??

They want to bulid kind of center in Berlin showing them as victims of WWII

you should check your information on this one mate...

old borders of Poland

okay... so you show an old map of poland here but at the same moment you state

And Germans live in the past not we

...
very interesting... ;-)

shall we all start looking up historic maps and just throw them in when they suit our argumentation best???
i believe in looking forwards not backwards...

Just think what would happen if Hitler have won the war ...

you probably would speak german today...
however, i hope we all agree that it is best that hitler did not win the war... that would not have been a germany i want to be a son of...

yes. quite clearly this is a discussable case and personally i disagree with the hamburg welfare's decision, but still there is no such thing as a policy for such cases in germany.

baby cant even learn Polish if the father is German

here you speak utter rubbish. such policy does not exist and amongst certain (educated) parts of society having children to grow up bilingual is seen as a great opportunity.

don't try to picture germans all the time as backwards people. who are you trying to convince? yourself??

No my friend, they are NOT posting what they truly feel, because they are hypnotized by you, and people like you, pollutants of the nationalistic soul

i am most certainly not your friend but thank you... apparently i have magic powers now... great. let's change the world then... ;-)
