Food / Horse Meat - popular in Poland? [36]

I once read somewhere that the flesh of the horse is not popular in Poland.
Everything I have seen on this forum suggest otherwise.
Your opinions please.

O, nice.
It was after the WWII when people were eating horsemeat. some say it was not so bad.

What do you think is he best place to live in UK for a person who likes to commune with nature and yet not far from a big city?

There are so many places and almost every big city can lead to beautiful countryside, either by car or by bus. Sheffield can not be called a beautiful city but by bus, you can be in the wonderful Derbyshire countryside in just a few minutes. The ride to Bakewell is one of my favorite. Aberystwyth is a nice Welsh town with access to fine countryside just a few minutes drive outside. In fact, I would say that the drive through Wales from Hereford or ross On Wye to Aberystwyth is as nice as anything I saw so many years ago whilst driving through South Africa.

Thanks for your valuable words. The thing is that I can't travel a lot here and want to get others' people view about the places.

I want to settle down somewhere in a couple of years, so still plenty of time, but I don't want it to be a chance decision.

Northern England has more big cities and more of the rugged type of countryside.

I consider moving to Scotland, maybe in the vicinity of Edinburgh.

I'll be biased and say Scotland is a nice place with big and small cities and easy access to the countryside

Not necessarly, you can cruise the river in a big boat sitting in a lower deck looking through the window dining and wining.

If not, museums then, fantastic adventure

if u stay in the city of newry u have the beauiful mourne mountains. newry is the fasted growin city in northern ireland belfast is an hours drive away and u can cross the border to dubin is just an hour drive away aswell :P

This is me! No English courses at all. Now I have to struggle with the language every day.
I was really happy when I came across this forum the other day.

Council tax for a house can be well over 1000 pounds/year.
TV licence over 100pounds/year
TV, land line and internet less than 100pounds/month,
gas, electricity, water, it also depends can be around 100/month all together but really depends.

if you rent far from London or other big city eg 3bedroom detached house can be around 600-700 pounds/month plus the above mentioned.

100,000-120,000 pounds. Also, we'll have maybe 10-15k extra from other sources. Will we be able to buy something decent in the UK?

you will buy a house for that sum in some areas, but i would polemicize whether it's a "decent" house, on the other hand if you are not a demanding person.......

600-700, yes, for rent, close to nice and big cities much more than that

that's true, e.g. telephone calls: here few pounds for hours, in Poland I used to pay 20-30 pounds for less.
