History / Heretics Asylum - The First Republic of Poland [50]

You seems to be offended, this was not my intention. I just state something obvious basing on your posting. Quoted post just confirm myself to be right.

You not only reject significant part of the teaching of the Catholic Church and this is enough to classify you as a Protestant. You call a person who stick to Catholic teaching to be a bigot, apparently so is the whole church! Come on, this is absolutely ridiculous, there is no logic here. You are not a Catholic even if you call yourself the one. Personally I share some common believes with Muslims, still I'm not one of them.

News / Searching for keys in Polish-Russian relations [75]

There is no sense to justify crimes of UPA bands. Nathan, you can write all you want about supposed Polish or Russian propaganda. However we all know well that the most fervent antiUPA sentiment is present among Ukrainians from the east and south. We don't need to look what Polish or Russian historians have to say, native Ukrainians provide similar picture. I know even about historian from western Ukraine who share their opinion, his name is Victor Polischuk. UPA liberated these lands from all nonUkrainian civilians and those Ukrainians who tried to help their neighbours.

The government of Ukraine is pro-selfish therefore the only thing they've ever cared about is their own buttocks.

No wonder, cadence is short, so their time preference is very high. This is more than just Ukrainian problem.

I thought that JPII was against death penalty.

Generally yes, however even him doesn't exclude death penalty definitely. Still his personal view is not obligatory for Catholics, Catechism of the Catholic Church state clearly:

2267 Assuming that the guilty party's identity and responsibility have been fully determined, the traditional teaching of the Church does not exclude recourse to the death penalty, if this is the only possible way of effectively defending human lives against the unjust aggressor.

Anny way your clasiffication of the murder (in vitro) is Catholic one, which I question as most people in Poland.

My classification is a scientific one and this is obvious for anybody with basic knowledge of biology.

When I use condoms am I clasified as murderer by you ?

Of course not, I have no idea how you came to this conclusion. Do you attended biology lessons in primary school?

I have strange feeling that if you were more influential my life would be under threat ...

I support death penalty only for murderers, so if you are not the one your life would be not under threat.

Abortion is a murder and part of in vitro procedure. Murder is forbidden by law.

Unlike Vatican I really question legitimacy of III RP. I understand that if I would become more influential my life would be under threat.

My point is that in previous debates you claimed that miniorities with strange views are risky for state stability so the state should try to get rid of them ... and now you with your views are in miniority.

If anything, then I might claim that for example religious sects in traditional Catholic (Protestant, Muslim etc) monarchy questioned legitimacy of king to rule. They consisted anti-system element, so naturally they were risky for state stability. This is the reason why many European monarchs targeted them.

You think that democracies tolerate openly anti-democratic opinions? You would be very naive... You should not generalise about my statement, this is poor eristic trick :)

So what should we do with you to make Poland more stable ?

You know, Stalin also provided stability in the Soviet Union. I think that I would be one of many victims of his regime :)

I don't know what is your point. However I want to write that while being in minority is not itself a reason to be proud, still being in majority would be mostly a reason to be very ashamed!

News / Searching for keys in Polish-Russian relations [75]

No i dont, the potential of the current Polish state is even greater than Germany, the political "elite" is the only major issue here.

We are talking about current political potential of the III RP. Such potential depends mainly from wealth and even if I have negative opinion about populist tendencies in Germany, still they have advantage. Of course Polish politicians do everything to keep this distance but this is another issue.

There is a very strong pro-Polish group in Western Ukraine, they are the wealthier half, all they need is coordination, start Polish funded media, organize them, support them and we can create a highly competent group pushing for closer ties with Poland and reforming Ukraine at the same time.

Whether they are indeed pro-Polish, this is questionable. Although I oppose involvement of politicians in historical disputes, if you plan the future you should not ignore that Lviv's city council is heavily engaged in glorification of UPA. Why? Apparently because this is something that cost nothing financially while locals perceive such actions positively.

Secondary, this is not true that the western part of Ukraine is wealthier. It is based on agriculture, while the biggest cities are located in the east. I have read some time ago analyse of structure of Ukrainian oligarchic clans, western part was not represented. While current PM Tymoshenko belonged top one of two clans from Dnepropetrovsk.

Also I disagree with such opinion that Polish taxpayers should finance some business investment in Ukraine, this is not something that the state should be involved even in Poland itself. These are mistakes of American foreign policy which lead this state to socialism, aside from specific imperialism of ideology.

we have a massive following of willing supporters there, who's voice is incindentally more important than russian sympathizers.

Do you have any evidence to confirm this relation. Results of every elections doesn't seems to confirm your thesis.

we need to support the right movements and thats about it,

That would be perhaps effective if "our" side have some pretty stable advantage. While currently every each elections may results in different outcomes. Thus Ukrainian foreign policy is unpredictable. If Polish state decide to support one side you can count that their rivals wont be very friendly towards them. This is very similar to situation with new American administration and missile shield.

any democracy thats not a Russian puppet is "our".

I'm afraid if this would be democratic state and majority of Ukrainians would wish Ukraine being Russian puppet, there is very little you can do about it.

Poland at this rate will be all the way up there with the Western states within 20 years, probably sooner, Ukraine will take much much longer, it needs an ally on an international arena, that ally is either Poland or Russia.

Poland doesn't count, it has no influence. If anybody in Ukraine want this state remain independent they must run balanced foreign policy, this is false to say that either the EU or Russia. Both regimes have imperialistic ambitions, they just offer different propaganda duo to cultural differences between targeted societies.

Military, political and economical alliance that leaves the door open for a possible union in the future, neither of us will survive as an independent political entity for long and Western states cannot be counted on in long term, their interests either conflict ours or completely lack coomon fields.

Alliance is always against some third body. So I don't understand how Poland can win anything from economic alliance against Russia. While there is a lot of opportunities to lose... Like I wrote earlier the EU and Poland itself by their recent actions admitted that economic sanctions again Belarus were not effective. The same is with ridiculous American policy towards Cuba.

I also consider your vision of Polish-Ukrainian union to be utopian. Age of Enlightenment created vision of national states and American foreign policy after WWI sanctioned this system. Majority of people are mentally unable to stick to such concept, it will lead to ethnic conflicts sooner or later. First serious problem, first real crisis and you may have destructive home war. Who will be the president, Pole or Ukrainian? I think that behaviour of PO which intentionally tried to hide true German surname of one of their candidates to EP speak everything... PO have no faith in sanity of people, do you have any?

Our democracy which we are in a very good position to install, after Orange Revolution we have significant influence on whats happening there

You highly overestimate potential of current Polish state. Even if Polish politicians would be competent they could not solve the problem with even more incompetent Ukrainian politicians.

Anyway, installing democracy from above is a quite poor concept made in the US. How "our democracy" differ from "their democracy" in your opinion?

Belarus is a good 10-20 years even behind Ukraine, we should focus on what can we realistically get and what we can get is Kiev not Minsk.

"We can get", please define.

News / Abortion - how is the Polish government going to deal with this issue? [273]

More men have an opinion about abortion than women and that's what I wonder about.

Would you blame a men for having an opinion? In the age of democracy this is already reason to be ashamed? As I have write before, this thread have much more comments from women than any other in this section of the forum. Your activity here confirm this observation.

So, if father doesn't want a child and woman go for it regardless then I think he should not pay any child support.

If he did not want a child initially, this is a moment when he need to proof that he is a man indeed. Irresponsible cowards don't deserve to be considered to be men. Such individuals should be rejected by society, such reaction would effectively reduce their number.

You may indeed have a point.

Take into consideration one thing, if you don't respect yourself you cannot count that anybody else will respect you. Don't be like Polish politicians!

News / Searching for keys in Polish-Russian relations [75]

Creating a buffer zone between us and Russia just like Germany made one out of us, democratic strong Ukraine will take up significant Russian attention thats otherwise focused on Poland, we should support democratic changes on Ukraine with every penny we have since we have all the same mutual interests and no colliding ones.

I'm not opposed to independent Ukraine, however I don't perceive democracy over there to be guarantee of sovereignty, neither guarantee of prosperity (look at current situation!). Ukrainian elections are always very close and for example Victor Yushchenko is currently a very unpopular politician.

On other hand if you take a look at Belarus, if we ignore socialistic nature of this regime we have Lukashenko who loves to be the number one. Dictators are highly unwilling to surrender their powers. People who follow eastern politics know very well how Putin dislike Lukashenko. If anything push Lukashenko in arms of Kremlin it was western policy with axed him. While democratic election in this country would likely lead to unification with Russia. Currently we see the EU and even Polish government changing this line and of course it is good move. I strongly oppose demagogy of populist PiS, so many honest but politically illiterate people buy their c..p.

News / Abortion - how is the Polish government going to deal with this issue? [273]

This is an interesting thread and all views are important but I do wonder to myself why so many more men reply to this than women?

This look like that only from your perspective. If you take a wider look then you will find out that this thread have much more female posters than any other in politics/history section.

isn't that amazing?

This is amazing that somebody who is not able (and willing) to defend his point still find appropriate to post anything in this thread.

Since their policy is for us not to have our own policy i see messing with them as inevitable

If only our policy would serve us right. Do you see any gains from our involvement in Ukraine?

So no doubt your favourite racist TV president will sue them. Or not. We shall see.

I understand that you will update us about how this case is developing and apologize if judges rule out that Gazeta Polska lost?

News / EU Parlimentary Elections June '09 - Any non-Poles registered to vote? [8]

You know, my vote is not a problem here. The problem is that I must share this privilege with too many other people. Number over quality, this is the rule. I understand that you might be more engaged, after all they produce all these TV adverts for guys like you. :)

Since we pay tax here we should vote - just ignore the disapproving glares from the Mohair Beret brigade.

If you are so engaged why don't you apply for citizenship? Of course votes of foreigners wont change anything anyway. If I would live outside of Poland, I would not waste my time for sure. Even here there is little sense to bother, we already know that only populist parties have a chance.

News / Chairman of TVP flies the racist flag for Poland [51]

Gazeta Polska is a mouthpiece of PiS. Farfal fired many people closely related to this party, so now they try to discredit him by all means. They provided no evidence to back their claims, so there is nothing to discuss. This is political explanation, I'm not going to waste my time with Harry.

News / Abortion - how is the Polish government going to deal with this issue? [273]

It is a woman's issue. It is her body to do what she wants with it. The minute she came to the understanding that her body was/is hers...it became hers. In other words if something had happened to it before she/he came out of the birth canal...it wouldn't have made a difference, right?

Do you run abortion clinic? Because this is intellectually offensive pseudo-logical reasoning that you post here. One second before a baby came out of the birth canal haven't this understanding, one second after already have full understanding (or maybe even later?!). That is another new definition, you think that you are capable to decide. While when I read such nonsense I wonder whether you are capable to screw a light bulb???

2. I do support in vitro (maybe I dont understand it LOL).

I will not go so off-topic to discuss these matters in this thread. I will just write that if you support something that you don't understand then this is serious reason to be worried! :)

News / Abortion - how is the Polish government going to deal with this issue? [273]

you see I fully agree to that 1 but do you think we can change anything about it? We can discuss as long as we want to and we won't achieve jack s*it unless you'll become really rich one day and buy some serious a** media like for example MTV and try to do some work there. It's not the older generation that needs changes (OK maybe some) but the young people who follow this like you say pop-culture. Just take a look at the generation of 14 -21 years old, no morals, no respect, unorganized.

Edmund Burke wrote that The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing. and I share this opinion. I think that people who have proper knowledge are obligated to try to hand it to this brighter part of young generation. Who knows, maybe some of them will gain enough influence to begin reinforcement of western cultural heritage. I don't believe in democracy, only elites are capable to move this world forward. Thus the most crucial task is to rear responsible elites.

we've been looking for the truth since the beginning of the humanity and tell me now, have we found it? My answer is NO because everyone has his own point of view about it. It is human to disagree, to think different, to live different etc. This is why we have wars, crimes, conflicts etc.

People are not perfect but always should tend to be perfect. The brightest minds always used to push the world forward and achieved really much. However in the age of populism people bombarded by millions of useless informations struggle to discover proper authority.

I'm afraid that this lack of respect that you mentioned is created by democratic mentality. I mean people without proper education who think that they are capable to decide about how the state should be run. So they are authority for themselves, this to the large extend killing their minds and in the end they have little respect for anybody else including real intellectual elites. They have syndrome of completely unjustified self-content.

If you reject 'old rednecks'
How many years have you lived in the states? Are you American? What do you know about rednecks?

I used this word for the first time and gave it a bit different meaning from traditional one. I mean people about 50 and older not only from the US. It has pejorative connotation that I wanted to underline. The point is that they are not bad people but that their minds are already closed for new informations. From my personal experience (including my family members) honest discussion with them about serious matters is pointless. Of course there are exceptions...

News / Abortion - how is the Polish government going to deal with this issue? [273]

well, more or less it is. We're just spending our free time here, discussing about something that has been discussed thousands of times before and to be honest, not achieving anything and it's good so because what kind of achievement would it be? I can't speak for anyone else here but I'm not trying to convince anyone to believe what I believe and I don't want anyone else to try to convince me to change my point of view. It won't work anyway, :-).

On other hand, if I'm wrong about something I would like to be convinced by somebody. I think that there are few people who share this opinion, thus I don't avoid debates even about issues that I consider to be obvious.

If you reject 'old rednecks' and people concentrated exclusively on their day to day existence, you will find some bright young people. Their views might change quickly because they search for truths. Even if I wont convince them immediately at least they will learn about different way of thinking. While someday when they will be already disappointed by pathetic mainstream pop-culture present in mass-media, they try to find out more closely what was my point.

News / Lech Wałęsa threatens to leave Poland [30]

Walesa spoke at congress of Libertas party in Italy. Few days (?) after he spoke at congress of EPP in Poland. It is lack of political consequence indeed, however I never claimed that Walesa has any sense. Still this is funny how Polish establishment which usually glorify him so much started to mock him during the first opportunity when he did something that they dislike. As long as he is doing what they want, he is a legend. Otherwise just stupid ignorant.

If you read Polish this is the source:
