News / Is the E.U. good for Poland?? [180]

So you ask whether Poland would be better outside of huge bureaucracy? The answer is obvious, I mean yes of course, no matter under what name this bureaucracy would hide behind. You don't need to be member of the EU to join the Schengen zone (Iceland, Norway and Switzerland that is expected to join soon). To keep free trade zone or allow foreigners to work in such zone, countries need to sign proper treaty and there is no need for any parasites like "European" institutions and their regulations. The best example is that that Poles cannot work in all EU member countries despite being a full member. They can work only in those with which they came to agreement in bilateral negotiations. Instead to swallow all those ridiculous EU regulations Poland should finally reject socialism and organize a whole bunch of economically liberal reforms. If you chose this way then others need to worry that they are not enough competitive.

Beside of that Poland is not surrounded by the EU, we border three countries which are not a members and they are not expected to join anytime soon.

News / The new Polish Minister of Finance is British [29]

With Schengen zone It's rather only a matter of time when a big terrorist attack happens in Poland.

I'm also against immigration, especially from third world and Muslim countries. Plus what is very important I'm against sticking our noses into their internal affairs. All troops should be withdraw and then they would not have a reason to target us.

Why ? What's bad ?

What is the EU? A lot of institutions and millions of regulations,a huge bureaucracy obsessed by control mania like every other (Please mention some treaty which would reduce their competences if you disagree, this is impossible because every each treaty extend their competences). What is more those bureaucrats who have full mouth of "democratic" slogans don't care about it at all if opinion of societies don't stick to their vision. I have read a book of Russian dissident Vladimir Bukovsky based on Soviet archives that he had temporary access after collapse of the SU. Funny how former president of France F. Mitterrand during closed for media talks (already in 1989!), consulted with Soviet last leader M. Gorbachev the idea of European federation (one socialist state, without Soviet territories). They talked about this as this would be already decided and approved by people. There was no Maastricht or Amsterdam treaties signed at that time, not to mention Nice treaty or constitution! Your compatriots and the Dutch voters have voted against the constitution, people in many countries were not even asked but it doesn't matter because it must be like they want! So they will rename it and shamelessly avoid referendums. Sorry but this is what you all call democracy? EU Commissioners (named like in Soviet Union) which in fact run this bureaucracy are not even elected. No matter for what mayor party you would vote (and only such parties have access to media mainstream outlets) this really doesn't matter cause their goal is the same. This is not democracy but a cynical farce.

If you would organize referendum whether to dissolve the EU probably people would save them. But if you would ask them whether to radically reduce bureaucracy they would enthusiastically support such idea. Two basically the same questions and opposite answers! This proofs only that people don't really understand what is the EU all about. Because the EU is only a huge bureaucracy and nothing else.

I support all European free trade zone, I support Schengen zone which should be extended to the east but I'm totally against all their institutions and regulations.

The EU is really good for Poland, you can't deny it.

I can, the EU is bad option for every each member country and the fact that Slavdrom is a complete utopia is another matter.

History / Polish Jews - they changed their Jewish surnames to Polish [532]

As to Jews we have in Poland Jewis society it is estimated about 14 000 religous Jews and 100 000 not religous Jews.

This could be explained in this way:

- most of religious Jews were murdered by Germans, almost all the rest escaped at that time aboard or left Poland during communist period when they have such opportunity

- the same about capitalist Jews

- Zionist Jews should belong to two above mentioned group

- Majority of those who still live here are former communists or more precisely apparatchicks of the former regime. Excellent example is Mr Borowski mentioned by Lukasz, also Adam Michnik or Bronislaw Geremek. (This group also must deal with Germans before)

It was not myself who claimed so, if you read this thread carefully. About democracy in Netherlands we will see whether their government organize referendum. If they will adopt EU treaty without approval of Dutch voters whom rejected it before then indeed they are not democracy. (like all other EU countries) This would be a pure fact, not just their empty slogans. I see people for what they are doing not saying.

randompal,

The only political party in Poland that I know would allow drugs is UPR. Personally I disagree with them about this issue however if you care about it so much, above everything, you know for which party you should vote :)

Quoting: Grzegorz_
The result of "progressivness"...

I don't think so.

So how could you explain quote below?

I was talking about a Dutch families experience in Holland, the age of consent is something like 13, the laws are so liberal it makes it easier for paedophiles to prey on children.

Muslims come to big cities mostly what is understandable but if this trend will continue they will come to provinces as well. This is only question of time.

That they happened to let in too many muslims for their own good is a whiole other story

No this is exactly the same story, they are obsessed with political correctness which tells them to tolerate almost everything and everybody. (What about pedophile party legalized some time ago?) In effect they lost their original heritage and culture that were replaced by nothing that I would call culture. You cannot mobilize too many people to defend current order and that is why Muslims will take over this country without fight.

As far as drugs are concentrate, I don't see many countries follow the Dutch on this issue. While Dutch young bother with such 'important' things, Muslims don't.

you are assuming there are no gay people in Poland who would like to take part then?

Citizens of Poland know very well canons of Polish culture and should respect it. In opposition to foreigners they are allowed to the part in public debate.

What always amaze me how some many warriors of political correctness reduce all homosexuals to those few radicals whom want shake their asses in front of our eyes. Maybe many homosexuals share my point of view? Perhaps they are pissed off because bunch of radicals destroys their image among public opinion? Think about it, after all this case have nothing to do with their sexual preferences. If any other group of people would wish to organize a parade in the same style I would oppose as well.

why would you disagree with anything they do there? they get to smoke hash in church while we get our wrists slapped like little children for any little thing we do wrong...kudos to the Dutch, the only people on the face of the Earth to figure out what living in a free country really means

Because I don't see anything smart in such anarchy. The Dutch have no higher values and that is why actually they are being overrun by Muslim emigration which have their own ethic and is not willing to abandon it. Perhaps they lost this invisible mechanism that protects every society from self-destruction? Neither drugs or homosexuals can help them in this situation I suppose.

These "parades" are well known from its obscenity to not say perversity. What you can do privately at home is not always allowed publicly at the middle of the street. Maybe in some other countries such behavior would be normal but for Polish cannons of culture it is unacceptable. People who ignore this and come to our country cannot count on any friendly attitude. Please note that I don't come to for example Netherlands to fight everything what I disagree what they are doing over there.

In 2010 there's going to be some pan-European homo "parade" in Warsaw with millions of faggots. No kidding.

So they did announce this already? Probably because they want to give enough time to prepare pan-European nationalist "parade" in Warsaw at that time. Ethos of fair play still alive :)

History / Poland-Russia: never-ending story? [1341]

you should notice that Russia was one of the last countries on West (Mongolians came form Asia) Mongolians occupied ... they havent occupied Poland ... so It seams ok you feel so many connections with ancient Mongolian warriors :)))) ;P

According to Koneczny this is not race, nationality, language or religion but
"social morphology" the crucial thing that decide to which civilization some people belong.

Sorry, just checked the rankings - Russia State Uni in Moscow -64 worldwie, Jagiellonian - oops - 300 th group:( This should count for something , no?

He was also on Vilnius University as far as I remember. However this is not important at all, the point is whether his theory has some sense or not. I think that he made a lot of good points.

Beside of that such rankings are nonessential like EUFA or FIFA soccer rankings. Anyway how current rankings reflect the reality of pre or just after WWII?

History / Poland-Russia: never-ending story? [1341]

Putin has no any weaknesses!

Like Genghis Khan? :) Currently I read book about theory of civilizations invented by pre-WWII Polish professor of Jagiellonian University in Krakow. ("Teoria cywilizacji Feliksa Konecznego", Bezat Piotr) Highly interesting lecture but I thought that Koneczny exaggerated when he classified Russia to Turanian (Nomad) civilization (instead to Byzantium) but such statement from you proofs him right! :)

And what? We have alot of our own fermers, so we have some oughts before them, it just a protection of domestic market.

Beside of that you learned nothing from collapse of communism, (lack of historicism, another problem of Turanian civilization) you ignore the problem of raising prices that you need to challenge everyday. But you care about:

The typical regime in now in Georgig, as I remember you praised their lider... Now Michail sowed us that he is a pure democrate!

.... Georgian president who by no way have influence on you life, no matter whether he is dictator or democrat.

News / Polish people reactions towards the last elections in Poland [59]

Yes good results but what u think deeper.

Finally we will join Europe and nobody over there could be allowed to say that we are not enough European as we should to be. Finally European courts will be above Polish courts that we don't trust at all. At last we will get rid of our currency that nearly nobody likes anyway. Finally EU constitution (called by our European leaders "EU Reform Treaty" for our own good, look what the French and Dutch did in referendums...) will be more important than Polish constitution. This is good because EU constitution is around 1000 times longer that our own so probably also 1000 times better. At last we will have uncorrupted government . All these accusations about some privatizations swindles in the past are made by anti-European, anti-Semitic, anti-Gay blind nationalist, so they cannot be trusted at all. The same about more recent corruption affairs, everything is carefully planned conspiracy against PO party. Same fact that most of media outlets support PO party speak for itself, cause we know that media cannot be wrong. (except Russian media which are always wrong) Polish culture is sometimes so disturbing you know, it don't allow for homosexual parades on the middle of our streets! They will change this as well, everything will be like in Europe. PO politicians promised that they will reduce Polish bureaucracy and they will do so transferring their competences to Brussels bureaucracy which is the only good bureaucracy in the world. All others are bad just this one is good because they care about us so much. We are very grateful to them. As far as taxes are concentrated they promised to lower them of course. This is liberal party and their politicians reducing taxes since 1989 (they are in parliament since 1989) and soon will reach 0% but they say that they still can do better. We trust them completely, what they promised they always did later.

Hope this is enough. :)

EuroCheers for you,

History / Poland-Russia: never-ending story? [1341]

Quoting: ConstantineK
it is totally ludicrous!!! Could you cite some of his "nationalistic" speaches?

oh yes ... Putins speaches like: Russia is surrounded by enemies ... we have to defend our state ... bla bla bla ...

If you analyze this carefully then indeed it is not nationalistic. (I did not read original version) First and foremost nationalist speech should verbally target ethnic minorities. We know very well that Russia is multi-ethnic state and playground for nationalisms is very wide. But from what you write Putin did not went this way. Nationalists always fight internal enemies first.

Also if Putin referring to the state of Russia (that is surrounded by enemies) then as I have write before this is multi-ethnic state.

So this is not nationalist speech. This is different problem, he does use old trick of different rulers/governments to concentrate attention of public opinion on external problems which rather have no impact on their everyday reality. Then they wont think about weaknesses of their leaders, about wrongs of their policy which they must deal constantly. For example Kremlin banned food import from few countries and now Russians must buy more expensive food. This is clearly fault of Putin's policy.

History / Poland-Russia: never-ending story? [1341]

I'm almost ashamed that I need to explain it to you again... I don't deny that nationalists demonstrated. The only photos that "GW" published from Russian holidays is from nationalist demonstration! Plus one photo from communist demonstration (woman who keeps Stalin portrait) and one photo of Putin in CLOSE RANGE in the MIDDLE from DIFFERENT meeting. This is pure manipulation as usual in "GW". How you people can buy this BS so easily?

Of course Kremlin controlled media use the same kind of tricks. This only means that "GW" keeps Russian standards o journalism.

I could post films or photos from such nationalist demonstrations from almost every other country during its holidays. So lets keep at least minimum of objectivity.

todays pic (from celebration)

This is from Gazeta Wyborcza, "objective" as usual. Probably some Russian rag also publish photos of NOP demonstration to show domestic public how Poles celebrate some of their holidays. Of course they would also put a pic of president somewhere in the middle and doesn't matter that he attended completely different event.

Life / What Do the Poles Think about the Abolition of the Death Penalty? [48]

Some of you claim that this is EU demand to abolish death penalty. This is not true, please show proper paragraph if you would insist that such law exist. You confuse organizations, this is The Council of Europe (47 member countries, among them Russia and Azerbaijan) that has such regulation.

oh yes so join some Asian countries like Russia or China ...

I don't think that Russia have bright future with their current political elites. However Chinese want to make all country look like Hong Kong and they don't waste a time for democracy just doing so. Of course they are far too much brutal according to my taste but anyway they will overtake the EU without problem. Also Asia it is also Japan, South Korea, Singapore. Other less developed countries of this region will rather follow them than socialist European Union.

News / Poland 2007 Elections: PO Won, PIS second [232]

Kaczynski and PiS are socialists so almost from definition they are wrong about most of issues, however they discredit socialism and this is good. While Tusk and PO pretend to be liberals and in fact they are not. However in this situation they discredit liberalism and that is why I'm more upset with them than with PiS.

There is so many thing to criticize about PO and Tusk that to chose cheap propaganda about his grandfather is silly.

Another pathetic post about the Pope, he was not a Nazi. Some people here need to read some history books before start posting. TV is NOT enough. I'm Polish and i dare to say that more I read about Benedict decisions more I like him. His line seems to be better that policy of our Polish Pope on some aspects.

Not democracy as we know it, but Ancient Greece?

This is aside subject. However in democratic ancient Greece (indeed this very different kind of democracy) pedophilia was common and in good taste! How this ancient Greece ended anyway? ;)

The EU has much room for improvement, but it is better that it is there.

agree, EU is very good ;) but it realy could be better and less bureaucratic.

The left always wants to improve socialism by some very small liberal corrections. Centuries passing away and they still failed to do so. The foundation of the EU is socialist and as such cannot be successful. This must be the other way around, the foundation should be liberal and then we could think what socialist improvements we should install to preserve proper balance. The EU has no bright future, cannot compete with Asia in longer run.

Later they take back regulations like "carrot is vegetable" ;)

Oh yes, I know many such examples. Frog is a fish (slodkowodna). But it is even more funny if you know why they did it. But such details just proofs that a bureaucrat give a damn about truth, he can say that black is white and white is black and you must deal with it.

For first think it isnt bad idea, but just imagine situation when you have to pay for your education, and only one group of people who have enought money to pay for it ... are Oligarchs.

Rich people always have easier way, this is not an excuse. I have pleasure to met many educated people from poor families. Their motivation is strong while those richer have a problem with this.

When we look on which countries are the richest. We see that democratic or those who have mineral resources ... we dont have oil or gas ;) so maybe it is better to stay democratic :)

Ok, so lets look at the times when absolute monarchies were in majority. Somehow exactly the same countries are the richest. They were the richest long time before democracy appeared. They earned their wealth at that time. Also look at Chile, if Pinochet would not overthrow democratically elected Marxists they would be still poor. Actually Chile is far in front of other South American countries.

There is hope we will simply over vote our ideas in EU ...

Almost all projects of reforms in the EU are created in the European Commission and they are bunch of unelected bureaucrats. Naturally they will never willing to reduce its own influences. Those who stand against their vision of the EU, they will label "Anti-European". These days this "accusation" seems to be somewhere around "fascist". Such people are not worth to discuss with them anything (zaplute karly reakcji :) ), so there will be no public debate.

No ... I know this idea, you can read about similar idea which was tested for example in XIX century in UK, there votes of rich were more important than poor (or simply rich could vote and poor not)

This was very oligarchic. I would power of the vote make dependent from how educated are voters. Then it would be up to them to learn and gain more influence. Of course I realize that many educated people are fools as well but anyway quality of such elections would be higher. Politicians would need to start fight for educated voters, because today they offer only populism directed to majority of ignorant crowd.

your ideas have 1% of support ... maybe because you are not greate admirers of democracy ...

Rather not because people are not aware of this. Also I would not generalize. Still I don't think that switching to other system would be positive for our country these days.

However this is thread about the EU rather than UPR, so you should rather comment their undemocratic recidivism. Or perhaps some holy cows cannot be criticized at all?

By the way, do you think that a system where two drunkards have together twice more votes than one university professor is smart?

Life / Opinions about Radio Maryja [134]

I see that Jakobians in France are still confident.

A radio station for those who believe in heaven and hell. hahahahahahahahahahaha

Its amazing people still believe in God, but hey "religion is the opiate of the masses". For the unenlightened, the scared, the brain washed and brain dead.

Wake up people ain't no God never was, never will be.

Lets quote your idol Jean Paul Rabaut:

Tour les establissements en France couronnent le malheur du peuple: pour les rende heureux il faut le renouveler. Changer ses idees; changer ses loix; changer ses moeurs; ... chenger les hommes; changer les choses; changer les mots... tous detruir ; oui, tout detruir, puisque tout est a recreer.

For the left it was always very easy to destroy everything as your ancestors did with ancient regime but to build something better was never their strong side.

Before people jump all over me, yes I really hate any form of lies which is why I hate HATE religion and ********. More people have been butchered burnt and raped in the name of a f-ing deity than anything else.

The left in general and especially the French left have great tradition of tolerance to mention the terror of the French revolution and Vendee genocide of course.

I'm going to go and get drunk, track down the local priest and bugger him.

Guillotines popular in France no more?
