Polonia / Getting Polsat channels outside of Poland. [7]

Does anybody know how I can get Polsat channels like TVP 1 and 2 and others from outside of Poland. I live in Germany and I imagine I'm close enough to pick up the Polish satellite. I know of some other Polish people living in Germany and they get Polish t.v. I just am not sure how. I think it should just be a simple reallignment of my dish and setting my receiver to look for the channels. Can anybody give me some information?

Travel / Have you ever been in Poland? [111]

My first trip to Poland was back in March. A couple of friends and I went to Wrocław. I really love that city so much and it's so beautiful on the Rynek and along the Odra too. I met my girlfriend while I was there and have been back many times. Speaking of which I will be back there again on Thursday for 5 days. I've also been to Krakow but sadly didn't have enough time to see all there is to see there. I will be going back again soon. I really love Poland, the architecture, the culture, the history, the food, and especially the piwo. Next year I hope to move there permanently. :-)

Travel / Things to do in Wrocław [5]

Hey guys, I was just wondering if anyone can suggest some normal everyday type of things to do in Wrocław. I'm visiting here with my girlfriend and I'm tired of just hanging out on the Rynek and going for dinner and a drink. Can anyone suggest somewhere to go that's maybe not on the Rynek, and something else to do, maybe like bowling or something non-tourist like.

Life / English man is getting married in Poland - Polish Church issue [37]

I understand your predicament English and I really hope all turns out well for you. I will be going through the same problems as you when I get married to my girlfriend. I have the added difficulty of being divorced. I don't know if it will be possible to get married in a Catholic church in Wroclaw or not. I have a friend there who is engaged to be married and he said to me one time that there is a way, he is also divorced. Let me know how things go for you. How soon do you plan to be married?

Torny, I know you have your own beliefs and opinions on religion, I have seen you speak them on other threads before and that is ok. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and if people want to believe in a faith, that is their choice. I happen to agree with Firestorm and I think he really put it best. Anyhow, all I wanted to say is that no matter what your beliefs are on religion, English just came here to get some helpful suggestions on his obviously frustrating situation and your criticism doesn't help him any.

Life / Homosexuals in Poland / Hands off (PETITION) [797]

youll be safe ;)

quote=Amathyst] lol, that made me laugh, who really cares what someones sexuality is, I have gay and hetrosexual friends and there is no difference in the way they act or live. [/quote]

I'm not worried or anything. I am not a homophobe. I have had friends in the past that were gay, and my uncle is gay. It's not something that I am scared of. And I know they live there lives like any other person would. Like I said I just am very curious and often times I have random questions pop in my head. That's all.

But now that I'm on the topic, I can't stand closed minded people that are afraid to even be around a gay person. I always say to guys like that, "You like girls right?" and when they say yes, then I ask them if they are attracted to all girls, and when they say no, then I say "Ok, so just because a guy is gay, why do you automatically assume he's going to try and hit on you or be attracted to you?"

And I understand if you have the religious belief that homosexuals are commiting sins and everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and opinions. Just don't try and push them on other people.

Ok, sorry I went on another rant again. I'm done now. :-)

Homosexuals in Poland

I am a very curious person by nature and random questions pop in my head all the time. I was just wondering, for those living in Poland and would be able to best answer this, do you think there are more gays and lesbians in Poland than in other countries or less or maybe an average amount?

Genealogy / Has Anyone Got Any LDS microfilms Experience? [24]

ha hahahahaa.. excuse my moment.. lol it finally hit me what a micro is..
been cleaning all day maybe the cleaning substances got to me.. or the lsd

Ok the longer I'm in here the more I think it really might be about LSD, considering I have no clue what the hell you're talking about! ;-)

Yeah I got the microfilm part, I knew what he was talking about. I was confused as hell about how you could totally answer his question and then turn right around and ask him what he was talking about.

* wipes tears away from laughing*

Are you sure you didn't take some today? ;-)

Love / Do Polish guys have a different approach to dating than others guys? [50]

countries who get overly imperialistic/capitalistic tend to have this kind of behavior glorified

I totally agree with this. Everywhere you look it's all about sex. Movies, T.V., Music Videos..... It's the modern day pop culture that pushes it so much!

I have to disagree with you. Yes while coming from a certain culture is definitely going to have some influence on how you were brought up and what values you have come to hold, but not everyone is going to follow the same path.

We aren't made by some predesigned cookie cutter.

I for one am an American man, and I keep no journal of sexual conquests. Of course I have had more than one sexual partner, but that was only after I got divorced. My wife was the first woman I had ever had sex with, and while I have had more partners I'm sure my number is very low compared to most other guys. I think people that are proud of how many people they have slept with, have lost touch with themselves, maybe even lost a bit of their soul, and I for one will never be like that.

Travel / New Year's in Krakow [22]

It will be very cold. Be sure to have a long coat, gloves, scarf, and something to keep your ears warm for sure, because on New Years Eve you will most likely be at an outside event on a central square of some type. I think you will have a great time, I love how much the Europeans celebrate New Years Eve. It's a much bigger event there than it is in America.

Life / DVD Player help. Region 1 dvd's in a Region 2 player in Poland [9]

You need to buy a region free dvd player. They may cost a little more but in my opinion they are well worth it. You can always tell what region a dvd player will play by either looking for the symbol of the globe on the back of it. Whatever number is in the center of the globe is what region that player is assigned. A region free dvd player will have the world ALL in the center of globe symbol. They should also be listed on the side of the box the dvd player is packaged in.

Work / working as teacher in Warsaw [15]

but If some company has a serious reason to hire someone from outside EU then It's rather a matter of paper work.

I heard that there wasn't necessarily a visa needed to teach English in Poland. Is there any validity to this?
