History / Poland before WWII or Poland now what would you choose? [390]

what about this Sokrates
The UNO, the successor of the Geneva League of Nations, formally established on August 24, 1945
by less than 50 Nations, was dominated by the communist Block from the very beginning of its inception at San Francisco.
And it was the communist Block, a communist Poland in particular, that pressured the other Members of the "free world" to wipe the Free State of Danzig off the Maps, and sanction

" Genocide", better known today as 'ethnic cleansing' of her people.

"Genocide" and wholesale Terror, waged against the innocent, helpless and defenseless civilians.
Such Terror campaign had been going on since early April of 1945 in the territory of the Free State of Danzig, not only there, but and in all other German Provinces east of the Oder/Neisse line as well.

Please read the whole thing before w start discussing it

-if Poland can, everybody can - which I find derogatory and silly.

maybe for you, I bet most of people would agree with me (at least non Poles)and it's not silly what I'm saying unless you Polish. From your point of view it is because why would you admit that Germans have the right to claim their long lost land. I'm not gonna call your point derogatory or silly, this would the Polish way of getting out of this situation but your opinion is absolutely one-sided and only to be accepted by your country men. You haven't wrote the World's history (thank God). I don't see any reason why I would take up for Poles or anyone else. I love history but I disagree with your one-sided crap. If we discuss then keep it reasonable because quite a few people out there might suddenly find your opinion about what has happened in the past false and your arguments silly.

Before WW2 it was clearly a German city but the claim that Gdańsk is historically German is ridiculous and baseless

this is what you're saying and the following is what I found out about it
danzigfreestate.org/history.html
I obviously disagree with you about Danzig.
Why can't you guys just say, hey we lost our eastern Poland and they gave us ex German territories as a compensation for that loss. I can eat that but denying historical facts is something I can't put up with. Sorry guys Danzig wasn't built by the Poles and over the centuries the population of Danzig spoke German. The town had a Polish period in its history and that's about it. Sorry, kill me for that and I'll still be saying it, lol.

I can't wait to see your justification for Breslau being a Polish city!

yep and that too :-)

you are quite intelligent but limited.

hmmm, I gotta say a very smart statement Ironside "intelligent but limited", not bad, lol

something is lacking

did you ever think that way about yourself? It's an option, believe me.

limited ability to understand other

did you think for just a second that maybe I just disagree with you. You know disagreeing is not the same as not understanding.

Back to my question.
I'm going to ask you again about Gdansk/Danzig. Do you seriously believe that this town was always Polish? I mean it's clear it is now but what about the past? No propaganda or your feelings involved please, strictly facts.

You are forgived, it's allways good to tell us the truth

Thank you Grunwald. As far as the truth, no one really knows it. Many people claim to know it but we might be all wrong that's why I tend to be at least open-minded and listen to what people have to say and choose for myself the most credible situation.

Now I'm going to ask you About Gdansk/Danzig. Is (was) this town really Polish? I mean it's clear it is now but what about the past? Please try to give me honest answers, straight from your brain and not your heart.

no control

you don't have control over something you don't have a damn idea about. Unless you mean those things have already happened and there's nothing we can do about it anymore. So we which one is it?

Well, you have asked about rights !!!

well, I don't think Poland has more rights than any other country to claim anything, this is my point.

There were your partners

Oh, so now they weren't your partners anymore Ironside? :-)

As an American, I am constantly amazed and humored by the anti-American attitudes on this forum

Well, their were your friends

Soviets were never our friends but everyone was fed up with that damn war and we had to put an end to it even on cost of some agreements we shouldn't have done.

unconditionally according to international law means that loser is on the mercy of the winner

no you don't understand much at all Ironside. You lost the war and the Soviets won it and yes, you were on the mercy of the winner. They gave Poland what they felt like giving, that's it. They took the cash from the Germans and took a big chunk of your land and gave you what didn't belong to them anyway. If the WWII wouldn't be such a huge tragedy, we would have more than just one reason to lough about it.

It was compensation for Poland not for Soviet Union

I hate to tell you that but before 1989 everyone if ever then talked to Soviet Union and not to any of the satelite countries. Poland wasn't a free country.

Because Germany lost the war.

Oh, now I understand your point, so when some country loses a war it also loses the right to be treated fair, right? If so then why do you claim your ex territories in Lithuania and Ukraine. Poland also kind of lost the WWII losing a big chunk of land to the Soviet Union so I guess your claims are invalid.

Poland was from the beginning on the side which won!

hate to tell you but only in your history books written by the Soviets or pro Soviets at least. Soviets were the winners but not Poland and that's why they took whatever they wanted and there was nothing you guys could do about it.

Also the compensations paid by the Germans went to the Soviets because they were the only, let's call it "free" country in the entire eastern block.

Study ROCK MUSIC in Poland

I understand to study "Disco polo" or maybe even "Polish techno" in Poland but rock, c'mon man, lol.
OK, I got to admit there was one decent guy who supposed to be even involved with "Procol Harum", his name was "Niemen" but that's about it.

Does Poland count in Europe or is it ignored?

let's put it this way, from time to time you hear something about it and then it vanishes for a while but it's definitely not constantly present in western Europe just like it isn't in the US. It's kind of pitty as I enjoy to mess with you guys. It's so typical for Polish to get pi**ed off just about anything and this what I like about you. The World would be boring without Poles for sure.

well, all I see is a battle of feelings. Poles say this and BB says that. I tried to be neutral and said what I believed should suit both sides and that is "if you can I can". You can't deny Germans the right to love their country. I understand you defend your land and people but this is what everyone else does too, anywhere you go in the entire World. WWII was a very tough time for millions of people and not only in Europe. Everyone had to sacrifice something and now it's time for forgiveness but if you still want to digg in this historical crap you have to be aware of consequences and that means if you scream for more, someone else will do it too with the same right as you.

let's just give them a chance to discuss this problem. I strongly believe, I have a point there so guys now it's time for you to explain it please(especially Ironside).

I found a very interesting "short story of an City State of Danzig"
please read it
here's one sentence taken out of this story:
"The UNO, the successor of the Geneva League of Nations, formally established on August 24, 1945
by less than 50 Nations, was dominated by the communist Block from the very beginning of its inception at San Francisco.
And it was the communist Block, a communist Poland in particular, that pressured the other Members of the "free world" to wipe the Free State of Danzig off the Maps, and sanction

and here the site for those who may be interested (it's not written by the Germans)

What rights ?

your country size has changed after the WWII and you still claim some territories in once eastern Poland right? If so, isn't it the same with Germans claiming their once eastern part? I don't see any difference, if you claim parts of Lithuania and Ukraine then why don't give give Germans the same right to claim what used to belong to them before WWII?

Don't get me wrong but if you can then why can't they?
