UK, Ireland / Stop the exploitation of Polish workers in the UK [101]

This post is getting out of hand...I don't mind a heated arguement but not they way things are going here...I have no problem people having a go at poles living in gb and taking jobs etc....I repeat my previous comments that the poles have done nothing wrong in working in the UK, or the way they spend there money, or how they live..I could only make an observation in stating... How would poles react if there town ie Zamosc was invaded by people arrivng by the bus loads every day seeking work...lurking around the streets, living in large groups etc...I personallyn would hate to see Rumanians coming to poland, let alone Indians/pakis/turks

Poles go to other countries for work

Oz offers peace and quiet..weather is perfect one day and better the next...now where do I start...........

noticed Wujek needs to only make 4 posts to have a round 1000! Maybe someone else's going to take him over .

Australia / Question to Lef about Living in OZ land [12]

How expensive is to live in ozl land?
What is the price ranges of homes?
What monthly income one should have to live there?

How long is a piece of string?

The social security system is a safeguard if your sick or unemployed, but for a person with skills and young it is the country of the future.

The reason why people come to oz is to enjoy the freedom and hassle free lifestyle, good climate and a good lifestyle..oz people enjoy sports and don't talk about politics or religion like in poland..

Basic wage min...is about 32,000$A minus tax
average wage is about 52000$A minus tax per year..
Skilled workers like electricians carpenters have it good.. nurses are sought after..doctors can print there own mony!
Homes in price from state to state...city and country prices.. in Melbourne average price is about $350000A
In Tasmania homes are about $250000A average.(obviously you can pay more or pay less depends on the location)
Tasmania incidently is the best place ond earth...has everything, fresh air/mountains/beaches etc...check it out on google)
Food and beer is pretty cheap, like I say I've thought about living in poland but I think I would be giving up too much in leaving oz..

Think about this oz has no land neighbours, poland has germany and russia, yuk, say no more.

In moving to a new country it is always hard at the start till you settle down and have a job, afterwards you love it.

Australia / Question to Lef about Living in OZ land [12]

I am planing on visiting Australia in the near future. My mother and sister visited New Zealand and they really liked it. How does one become a citizen? How long is the waiting period? And they do drive on the wrong side of the street, right?

Poles drive on the wrong side of the road...
You can get permanent entry if you have skills from day one..however access for un employment benefits and citizenship is 2 yrs....you can access family benefits immediately (ie if you have children)

I make this point... if you don't enjoy a easy going lifestyle (thats why polish indian girl didn't like oz) don't think about coming over...mmmm

Life / I'm a Polish immigrant. And I'm not going back to Poland. [40]

Look what the neighbour's gonna say" -- The 11th commandment of some Poles

Spot on..

Now on the 5th year I'm sure I won't go back to live permanently in Poland.

The longer you stay overseas the less chances are you will return to poland, if you have children you stay where the children live...Children adapt well living o/s and don't even want to visit poland...A lot of polish people who have never left poland and lived for some time o/s make nasty comments about polish people and question why they left... well the sad answer is poland has little to offer...starting from weather to social security, poles are obsessed with politics (who cares) and religion (that would be o/k if they practiced what they preached.) If you are prepared to work hard o/s, you will do very well.

Poland in time will change for the better Ie wages and conditons, but there will always be a rich few and majority just making ends meet..The ones who have not will always be envious of the ones who have.. and if you are better off be prepared for constant demands for funds from other family members and friends..someone will always have his hand out for a share of your wealth.mmmmmmmm how true.

Life / I'm a Polish immigrant. And I'm not going back to Poland. [40]

I think that often this is being very painful for their parents.

The world now is international just remember your parents didn't have the opportunity to travel and live overseas, now you can move around and live where it suits you.

you will always have some kind of nostalgia towards the place of your birth,

for a captain cook only (look), you live where you feel at home and what suits your lifestyle.

There's nothing wrong with polish weather

if you enjoy cold weather most of the year sure, poland is lovely.

Nor with the discussions about politics or religion. I'm of a opinion that you should know what is currently going on in the world, and especially in your country, as it affects your life.

People in a democracy elect a government to govern and do the right thing, if not they don't get re-elected...politics in poland is very erractic, each one trying to feather his own nest...(I do think the present leaders in poland are better than average) but how can you have a person like lepper who has only about 10% of the votes (his party) have so much say???.

Religion is important but lets practice what is taught to us in church, too many poles go to church and next moment are ripping people off etc...(I'm not saying all)

[

It's maybe boring for you lef, but it's still far better than talking about what happened in the Big Brother house yesterday, or who was cheating who on the Jerry Springer Show.

Not many watch US style rubbish...however, horses for courses, and each to his own..like the poles say, some people like cucumbers and some people like the gardeners daughter. mmmm.

And how can you be so sure of that? Are you some kind of a medium?

I think we can take this as read, once you have big businesses in poland, wages increase dramatically to management type jobs and filter down to the working class, unfortuanately when wages go up , so do commodities, pensioners feel the brunt because the government is unable to keep increasing the penson.

Greed has been accompanying humans long before Poland started to exist. Please, remember this

thats why

The thing that astonishes me the most, is that the people that are actually moaning on this forum about the lousy condition of modern Poland are those who are no longer living here.

People who have lived in poland under the harsh conditions from post war to the 80's cannot trust people in government, if you live in the west long enough you might understand.

but it seems that I’m the only one who is being truly positive here. It's quite funny, isn't it?

Not all poles have it bad, and if your happy with what you have, your are a blessed man.

Food / meat pie - the polish cooking style [5]

Is there anything in Poland that compares the the cottage/sheppards pie

There is little red meat in poland, pierogi would be the closest, although pierogi contain flour..

Its what your used to, I've always enjoyed the xmas period during summer, although I spent one xmas in poland during winter which was great.

Don't forget there weren't too many snowmen throwing snow when the boss was born..mmmm

Work / Italian girl moving to Poland, where I can ask for a job? [60]

I moved to Poland several years ago, and it was probably the worst mistake I ever made in my life.

I agree with your comments, I must say though when you go to Krakow people are more positive and happy, in the country though, its like living among the dead.

Few people have any interests aside from TV, the opposite sex and of course money. Money is all that anyone is really interested in, and they talk about how much you earn to the exclusion of virtually everything else, except rising house prices... Except in the heart of the big cities, the bars (the few that exist) are almost always empty or full of drunk men who haven't washed in a month. The countryside is even worse....

How true..

Life / Black people in Poland [357]

So I would say that u will be noticed... yes... but its not bad, its more like they'll be saying how exotic u look

This is a biased and not frank statement, because you are darked skinned, doesn"t mean that black is beautiful...The true is that most poles treat black people as inferior... if you want to upset your mother or father go out with a black person... This may sound hard but it is the truth.

News / What makes Poland different from other countries [55]

also i',ve been reading wujek_dobtra_rada (he sounds like a good guy)and lef (...that seems to hate everything about poland)

I find this remark about me insulting, if a person is critical of things in poland doesn't mean he is anti polish.. as a preface, I have been to poland 10 times in the last 20 years and have seen most of poland, I believe I am well qualified to speak about life in poland..

Firstly Poland is a beautiful country, just like the USA, Australia. New Zealand, Fiji, etc, what attracts me to poland is the people, traditions, and the way of life...(although things are changing and people are now more interested in making money and have deserted old values.)

The polish people cannot be blammed for the currrent situation as this country has been ruined by bad governments including the communist era.

To be frank when you talk about tourism in poland, the things which attact people to poland is Krakow and cheap grog, girls and food. Rest assured when prices match those of other countries like UK and USA, poland will have very little tourist..

Things that annoy me in poland. low grade hotels charging high prices, poor roads, having to pay to use a toilet, and almost everything you want you need to bribe.

Poles are not developing a amercian mentality, which I find revolting.

Am I anti polish, I don't think so.

News / What makes Poland different from other countries [55]

Just a thought. If you want to find the essence of Poland then I think Christmas time might be the time to find it. Traditions and way of life are very different at Christmas.

It is very special day in Poland.Family members from all over the country meet together at family grave

Those two points I agree with and make poland different to other countries, Traditions and enjoying the small things of life is what I like about poland, enjoying mushroom picking and only getting a few and nights around a table singing and enjoying a vodka appeals to me.

Customer service is much better now, and more so in private shops.
One thing that has made poland atractive for tourist is the buying power of the oxford scholar, I might add that when that equals the polish zlote, few people will be visiting poland.

Hygiene and public toilets needs to be improved, and poles need to be more easy going.

As for tourist attractions, apart from some castles and old churches not much to offer, better beaches and mountains elsewhere..

Are poles loyal to each other... answer listen to what goes on in polish politics

News / What makes Poland different from other countries [55]

still think that Poland is a great country that has more to offer then just cheap goods

You have made a big statement here, please explain yourself?

it might not appeal to you personally

As you grow older values and returning to roots mean more than money or good lifestyle, the point is that poland appeals to a lot of people, including the poms who buy cheap grog and are able to display there bad behavior without being dealt by the law..Believe me once the value of the dollar decreases so will the tourist.,

I'm not anti polish, just sharing my experieces...

News / Polish government punishes charitable givers [25]

These people should be round up and put to work for the state/govt for low wages so they don't have to sit around and get used to it

Yeah lets form a police state and round up these people.. bring back stalin and hitler hmmmmmmmm.

Lets show some kindness and understanding to these people, lets be real, these people are down and outs, because they are down and out, otherwise they would be jumping at the chance to find work etc....keep in mind a lot suffer from drug abuse and are not employable?

It is more cheaper to pay people benefits than cause trouble in the workforce>>> think about it...?

Law / It's Official: Poland Takes Silver regarding Investment Abroad [44]

Poles haven't experienced the real crash market yet, but it's just a matter of time.

I like your imput Uuuf, there is a real estate cycle, in poland it is up, beware when it comes down, there will be people jumping off buildings...mmmm.

I must say Krakow is the pick of the pick, I agree that you don't see much once you leave the city...
One place which I also really like is the south of poland near the czech boarder..

yes Gadu Gadu is totally free and is an instant messaging service like MSN or Yahoo. A lot of Poles prefer to use this instead of the other two.

Pardon my ignorance but how do you use gadu gadu, ie do you ring up a number to talk to somebody etc....I take it you would need a microphone installed on your computor?
