Love / From a Turkish Man! What I heard about Polish girls from my friends :) [53]

If he's looking for a serious relationship then the other things are important. Aren't they?

Personally I think a physical attraction is just as important as anything else in serious relationship. How can you ever get "close" to someone if you're afraid to touch them?

Maybe its just me I don't know............

Life / Smoking ban - will this be coming to Poland like other EU countries? [183]

I'd love to have seen the reaction of common Irish folk to the change. Having a cig and a Guinness was normal after work behaviour. To outlaw it was a touch controversial

Personally I think it worked well in Ireland. Being a smoker myself I must admit I enjoy going out to have a smoke as you always meet someone new to talk to. Although last time in Warsaw it was also good to just sit down and enjoy a cigarette with a pint.

The Pubculture in Ireland seems to be changing though. A lot of Pubs are now closing especially in the Town that I live in. One closed three weeks ago and four more are due to shut their doors within the next couple of weeks. Business simply isnt the same anymore. Whether or not that has something to with the smoking ban i do not know ........

News / So why is there so much animosity against Poles? [65]

Interesting and it sounds like a debate the writer had in her/his local bar after a few beers.

Ireland and the UK have agreements amongst each other such as travelling between between the UK and Ireland without the need of a passport. The rest of the mentioned nationalities are/used to be part of the Commonwealth or colonies.

To my knowledge it also only citizens of those countries who are eligible to join the UK Police forces except for Northern Ireland where also other EU citizens can join the PSNI.

Would the Polish Army let citizens of other countries join?

Life / Polish Train Travel - Scary? [101]

Has anyone ever travelled on Ukrainian trains? I'll be making the 16 hour journey from Kiev to Donetsk next week and was wondering if I should approach the whole trip with some extra care etc......

Polonia / German nation - degradation or just deviation? Your opinions? [66]

Actually I am German only living in Ireland. With regards to people from Northern Ireland they now have a choice between passports. People who were born in Northern Ireland but wish to carry an Irish Passport can do so I believe since the good friday agreement

Fine! Southern! You are greek! What do you think, Greek Cypriots share the same nationality with mainland Greeks or they are quite different nation?

Actually they don't. There is no such thing as a Greek Cypriot Nation only a Republic of Cyprus.

One can argue about that but in my opinion nationality is defined by what it states in your passport not by language or religious beliefs

Not a bit....Russians in Russia and Russians in Estonia for example, are they Russians or not?

You are indeed confused. Russians who live in Estonia are of course Russian however Estonians (is that what you call them???) arent. Austrians are not Germans because they speak the same language. I suggest you stay away from Scotland, Wales and Ireland in case you think that theyre english giving they speak the language.

I am curious to know which "nation" you think the Swiss or Belgians belong to?

Love / From a Turkish Man! What I heard about Polish girls from my friends :) [53]

I take it that when you go out and one of your friends points out that stud that just walked in to the door all you have in mind is what his personality would be like and what nice and interesting topics you could talk about.

Funny how its ok for woman to look at and talk about a mans bum but not the other way around .........

UK, Ireland / Polish doctors fly over just to work in the UK [15]

This isnt a new thing. I guess they must have run out of stories so they picked up on this issue again.
There was a really interesting programme on the bbc about young british doctors who are well underpaid and school leavers not being interested in medicine due to the fact they can earn more in other professions. There have been german doctors working in NHS hospitals one and off for years and same for south africans.

UK, Ireland / 90,000 Scottish Immigrants in Poland! [67]

You have been in Glasgow too long Bart, you should go north young man - sample the real Scotland !

I agree, "Glasgow with Style" is a joke. Go north or venture ten miles towards west where you'll find a neat little town they call Paisley :-)

UK, Ireland / Do Polish immigrants wish to stay in UK - long term? [92]

ie Germany.

Ermm yeah since our economy has picked tremendiously after we got re-united no problem at all.

Anyway, personally I think the majority will go home or elsewhere at some point. I too came to Ireland from Germany for the job not for the country itself (although i like it here). For me (and I assume for most other human beeings) it is about making money and progress my career. If i ever feel like I can do that in a better, quicker way elsewhere I'm off. Now some people think I'm crazy but I actually feel that I can earn better wages and progress my career in Poland.

UK, Ireland / Queue to leave broken Britain [59]

And thats probably still the same reason why people want to travel and it is easier these days than it was 20 or 10 years ago hence more people travelling. The sun however doesnt appeal to me as a newspaper that would take that into consideration. Anything for a story hu?

Almost everyone of my friends whether their irish, scottish, english or german have returned to their home country after travelling

Life / Germans and Poles - Fiction or Myth? [127]

Wel I moved away from germany 8 years ago and havent paid much attention to politics (i know shame on me) but if you look at the proportions of unemployed people in the east compared to the west it is hardly surprising. The same problems exist in certain areas of poland (or any other country) where unemployment is high. Not that I condone racism in any way however we have to look at reasons why people vote extreme nationalist parties and solve the problems instead of pointing fingers at each other

st dreams of one BIG nation where all the bratwursts of the World can unite and call it Bratwurstania, with the national symbol being -you might have guessed it-a sausage :)

I'd surrender my german passport to live in a country like this. Sausages every day , yum yum :-)

Life / Germans and Poles - Fiction or Myth? [127]

So you dont like germans because this german family helped Poles, then moved to Poland and your family visited them and they visited yours after they moved back to germany?

It makes perfect sense now that I come to think of it lol
