History / Aggressive Germans pushed out pre-Poles [35]

Warsaw, check out this site.
They are located in Denmark, but the shipping costs aren't bad at all to the US. They have really cool stuff...take a peek.

I think women should be strong and tough....like the Valkyries! :) Too bad it scares too many guys!

....and that thought leads me to a question: Are German women aggressive?

Shopski IS a hot blond chick! :):):)

Oooh baby! ;)

And could you imagine if I put a bright red and black swastika up for my avaitar? Id prolly be banned for life. I getting he11 about the iron cross, me and BB had a discussion about that.

YEP!

Actually BB once had an Iron Cross avatar, and yes he took a lot of heat for it. (but I like the hammer better anyway)

I should change mine to my Raven pendant, wanna see it? It is a replica of the ravens on the four corners of the Bamberg Casket. It is sooooo cool! I love ravens. Corvids are amazingly smart birds....

Here's my pendant....

Actually, since Crow is a red head, I would like to propose that he is actually a descendant of the Celtic Boii tribe, and really should be considered a long lost IRISH.

When some people just want it because its a symbol to be proud of, where your from, not because it means hate. But for some its the opposite. But aswell, I dont blame the 3rd reich for disgracing it, I blame the media and modern propaganda. And some people who use it in the wrong way...

We had a discussion about that some time back here on PF. We discussed how very old this symbol was and how it has been found in many ancient cultures (for example I had pointed out that the swastika can even be found woven into the designs of old Navajo Blankets in the southwest us).

But I understand what you mean....once a negative connotation gets attached to something, it's essence seems to only be regarded by the public in terms of the negative meaning.

There are many neo pagans who follow Odin and Norse teachings who have NOTHING to do with neo nazis. But you only have to have one neo nazi group endorse a neo pagan group, and it ruins the image for the true members!

No, this would be too reasonable and 'we' are not reasonable at all. What should 'we' do then?

Crow must be married off to a nice german girl, so they can have a big pan-slavic-germanic family. Then they can settle in Lusatia and live happily ever after, just like the storks.

Food / Polish romantic dinner (suggestions)? [30]

Carp is disgusting. I'm a fan of most fish, but carp is bland and filled with killer bones.

We always threw them back if we caught one....but I read that the Chinese really like carp.

Oooh! A map war between BB and Crow!
It has been a while since we had one of those!

Just remember Vrana, Germans are simply Slavs that abandoned Slavic ways! *grins*

News / 44 killed, 650 injured in Poland in road accidents during the weekend [32]

Also many drivers don't know that they should not use "cruise control" automatic function when the roads are slippery, as in rain or snow. (Do cars in Europe have this feature?) When the tires hydroplane or lose grip with the surface, they speed up rotation. Then when the tires make contact again, the sudden increase in speed tends to flip the vehicle off the road. Very scary.

News / POLAND TO SIGN US MISSILE SHIELD DEAL TONIGHT [239]

You merely didn't want to see it. :))

Not a matter of wanting or not wanting to see....
What I think/know is based on my observations. I cannot understand how the Russian govt "thinks". I think Russia's behavior is more complicated than simply reacting to what other countries do....I am sure they have an agenda. It just is not clear to me.

News / POLAND TO SIGN US MISSILE SHIELD DEAL TONIGHT [239]

Look at this from their perspective. Russia agrees to dissolve Warsaw Pact and retreat it's soldiers from her former satellites (in Poland it took place in 1993 - I remember it perfectly) and make it a neutral "no mans land" just to find it being annexed to EU eleven years later. Why do you think it didn't "annoy" them? Because in case of access to the EU the side that stretched their influence in that part of Continent was Germany and France rather than USA?

For such a big powerful country, why is Russia so easily annoyed? Is it paranoia? Does Russia think little, peaceful Poland is going to rise up and give some "payback" or something just because Poland is in the EU? I don't get it.

That's why Russia is dangerous...it has big guns and is trigger happy, as well as easily annoyed/threatened!

News / Funny German way of thinking ... "Stupid Poles" destroying EU? [57]

Correct. It's obviously non-democratic but you think it's democratic in the US?.. :) From what I see their current president had been elected before actual elections.

I think the difference lies with how often this happens. I don't think Bush should have been elected....the voting/reporting was flawed. Money has been spent in the US to upgrade the voting equipment.

But that is very different matter than the international response to Russia's last election.....the whole world could see that it was not a free election.

How do you imagine the Russians live SG?

You're kidding right?

heritage.org/research/worldwidefreedom/bg2088.cfm

The current Moscow power establishment is leading Russia back in time. Instead of moving forward toward a nation that cherishes and protects freedom and democracy, the establishment is creating a state and body politic dominated by a new breed of oligarchic groups composed of security officers and their business allies.

boston.com/news/globe/editorial_opinion/oped/articles/2006/10/16/russias_slow_death_of_freedom/

ANNA POLITKOVSKAYA, the 48-year-old woman shot dead in the elevator of her apartment building in Moscow Oct. 7, was not a public official, a member of parliament, or a leader of an opposition party. But in the eyes of many people, the murder of this fearless journalist has become a symbol of the slow death of freedom in Russia -- a death evidenced by many other events large and small.

voanews.com/uspolicy/archive/2004-01/a-2004-01-12-2-1.cfm

According to this year's report (2004), the Russian government continues to permit the generally free practice of religion for the majority of people. But some Russian federal agencies and many local authorities continue to restrict the rights of various religious minorities. Before last year, the cause of most complaints was a complex 1997 law that limits the rights, activities, and status of new religious groups -- those that have been in the country for less than fifteen years. More recently, complaints stemming from the requirement to register or re-register under the 1997 law have eased somewhat. But some groups continue to be denied registration in some localities.

Russia has also had a weak track record with copyrights and protection of intellectual property rights, the state is richer than its citizens, elections are a farce........racism against people in the north and the Caucuses....

Love / Polish men vs German men: Who is hotter? [513]

Interesting advice on dealing with Polish men......

swps.edu.pl/new_www/bia/warsaw_guide_1110986917/polish_character_1111051321/men_woman_1111051860.html

If you are from Germany or countries that went through emancipation movement be prepared for a small cultural shock. Sometimes you may have an impression that you are not taken seriously by a man, only because you are a woman. When going into discussion with a man, do not try to prove that you have a greater knowledge or prevail intellectually over him. Men love to dominate (sometimes it is unconscious) and woman should only look up to their wisdom. Of course it depends on relation between you and your interlocutor. Man would very often appreciate your "brain-flexibility" and enjoy highly-intellectual conversation very much. Thus you don't have to pretend naiveness all the time, unless you are interested in more intimate relationship.

However dating with a typical polish gentlemen is a real pleasure. He will knock at your door with a rose, take you to a restaurant, won't let pay the bill and assist you on your way back home. But be sure that you are dealing with a real gentleman. Chivalry is unfortunately in decline

Yes we have enough rights! Enough for this moment.

You haven't ever really tasted true freedom or democracy, so you have nothing to compare it to. No wonder you are happy with the crumbs thrown down to you from the Kremlin!

Life / Driving in Poland, Zebra crossings in stupid places? [26]

I read that roundabouts don't work in Germany. The rule is that you yeild to the driver on your left....and there is always someone to the left and Germans don't break the rules, so they sit there waiting for someone else to go.......

(I'm just kidding!) :)

Sorry, he's German.

That's ok but which part of Germany then ? All the borders changed and I bet his ancestors came from Poland originally ! Can we know about his ancestors then ?

Oh dear god! Are we now required to submit a DNA sample from our "hot guys" to prove whether he has German or Polish ancestry?????

You folks are tough!
*makes big eyes*

This is from another forum, but it was fun to read....

In my experience, German men were better in bed than their counterparts from other-wheres. Often not as entertaining outside of bed though.
Solution: Sleep with German men, but leave them (tied to the bed) at home while you go out with your English and American friends.

I wouldn't let him win that tug of war with the shirt. Nope.

Mikey looks great even when he's not out on the field in those little shorts! :)

Oh my gosh....I almost forgot Ingo Rademacher! Yes, I know he grew up in Aussie land, but he was born in Deutschland!

OK, this thread is about MEN not women, so WB, Jazz and a couple of others take it somewhere else. You are simply off topic.

THANK YOU MIRANDA!

They (the men on PF) just can't seem to help themselves can they! They always have to compare women.

THIS THREAD IS FOR THE LADIES (and Southern who is something of a sexual sociologist) :) hehe

Love / Polish men vs German men: Who is hotter? [513]

...yep - this sounds like a really relaxing - easy going - creativelly inspirational chilled date to look back on and cherish...

It can be heaven....if you like realism and want the truth. If you just want someone to tell you what you want to hear or someone who plays games, don't choose a German!

I love it that most Germans don't "get" or speak with sarcasm. The lack of sarcasm gives them a kind of old fashioned innocence. It's difficult to explain what that feels like to encounter that when you live in a culture that is pervaded by sarcasm and cynicism. Sarcasm can be a kind of passive-aggressive form of communication.

We just don't have that kind of basic honesty in the US.....everyone tells white lies (and some of them not so white.....)
