Crap. Without Yanks you would eat grass.

Sorry...it wasn't only the Yanks occupying Germany....there were the French, the Brits and also the Russians.
And in ALL zones people soon stopped eating grass but rebuild their country out of rubble and even the GDR with the Russians stealing everything what wasn't nailed down the land became one of the best in the whole eastern Block!

Well, I would say that 7.5% GDP growth is not bad... And the money from EU you are talking about we haven't got yet, we will get that until 2014.

Oh there IS an economic miracle?
But why are your young people leaving? Why all this talk about feeling dominated and slighted by the Germans?

Lot's of the money which is helping Poland is coming from GERMANY!!!!

Is so nice of Germany to share. Is the German money going anywhere else in the EU, or only Poland?
Just curious :) (I am imagining a money-pipleine winding its way over hill and dale, through the meadows of summer flowers....)

It get's to all countries...

We are the paymaster of the EU....WE ARE THE EU!

We surely would stall and fight tooth and nails if Germany wouldn't be at the same time the country which profits the most because of our export concentrated economy.

Or biggest trading partner is the EU! :)
(She is making us richer every year....)

Well, when somebody is too ugly to find real friends, he has to buy them and they still don't really like him :)

Look in the other thread...Germany has no problems with her image! It's quite excellent...world wide people like us, they respect and admire us...

Not only are we TOP economically but also have a very good image world wide!
We are a very well run country....
It's a nice feeling! :)

Germany is viewed as having a long consistent history of being agressive. It is in her nature.

There is nothing wrong with being aggressive...at least today we develop and produce the world best tanks and export them instead of using them....(it's more fun that way)

You are sprouting your opinion as facts...."Canada is racist!", "Germany is world wide disliked!", "In GB Poles are horrible abused!", "Bratwurst is a Nazi!", etc. ad nauseam...

I BROUGHT evidence to the contrary and if you would use the link I posted you can read all about this index.

And statements like "the EU will soon collapse anyway" don't make people trust you or believe you more...you know?

Or as the ridiculous corrupt fantasies from (Germany-based?) body calling itself Transparency International? - From my own experience, your index is totally incorrect for Europe; I have spoken to many Europeans, and very few of them like the Germans.

....but the disrespect towards us is the result of the media mafia brainwashing, and when common people in given European countries get to know us directly, they start liking us (it's often true even for the Germans). Whereas in case of germans your own obnoxious attitude is the reason for the prevalent dislike of you.

And yes, it's a fact that the general attitude towards the Poles in Canada is racist (partly because there are so many germans there?). And canadians are so narcisstic that they refuse to acknowledge this.

The only possible solution for the deadlock between the German relationship with Poland and the New Europe (only in EU sense) is that Germany, as a more prosperous nation, must initiate a policy of cordiality towards them first. I believe all the Polish anti-German come from the frustration of being relentlessly disdained and ignored for just being poor even though normal Polish people would really appreciate some good influence from Germany.

We are doing it since more than 5 years Tran...(I think)...it was the german gov under Helmut Kohl which paved the way for a polish entry in the EU.

Since then it's a constant way of support and money from Germany to Poland...actually many Germans are frustrated that all this doesn't get appreciated at all...

What else do you expect from the Germans they should do?

I am sure to them they want to forget. as to those who have questions cant let go.
its not a topic of light conversation .. as we have all seen in here.

Actually those who mention this "rule" are often the same who start to talk about the war!

But often enough those talks are more a manly "my dick is/was longer than yours"...and they don't like it at all when Germans say their "dick" was the longest of all all and they could only beat them as they put all their "dicks" together....

Really....I can't count those discussions I had anymore....:)

I mean...Germany IS one of the biggest countries in Europe...Germany IS one of the wealthiest in Europe....Germany IS one with the biggest and most successfull economy...Germany HAS one of the biggest armies in Europe....

Will Poland ALWAYS feel defensive, slighted and put down by the Germans because of that??

OK, here is a question for you: which generation are you, in your family, that you still feel you are being blamed for something that happened a long time before you were born?

Other side of same coin...

Hmmm...being blamed....I don't know if that is the right wording....

You know I'm the third generation...it was my grandpa and his brothers who fighted in the Wehrmacht and it was my Grandma and her family who got expelled from the eastern Territories...in that case a "typical" german past (I told you before, didn't I?)

I always decided for myself to take the whole cake that is Germany as my heritage...the Good AND the BAD...not only Goethe and Schiller but also Hitler too...but since I was born so much later I don't feel actually personally attacked or blamed for what happened.

The problem is that using the old style propaganda with calling today politicians as Nazis and...and...and...is just wrong and it is used/misused/abused to gain some advantage.

As if at the mere mention of something from the third Reich every German will be shocked and feel guilty and of course cave in to every demand...even now more than 60 years later.

And that has nothing to do with war guilt or hurt feelings or reconciliation but everything with plain cold blooded calculating manipulation!
That has nothing to do with being upstanding, fight for the rights, honesty and all that blah...sorry!

...the grandson walks down the street with his grandad who limps - crippled by
his previous trauma. But - with a smile he tries to make the best of what
dignity he has left. The grandson of the bigger guy walks past. The smaller
grandson makes an effort to aknowledge the bigger - who in return calls them
both dirty car thieves.
