Travel / Snow tyres in Poland... legal or reccomended? [25]

Hey Guys,

Just for more information and saving money. I live in Szczecin, just by the border with Germany. I did not know when i first came here about tyre changes, i had bought a car with summer tyres from Germany. Last year in Decemeber I went to Germany with same car and same tyres, I was blocked in traffic, to my bad luck a police car passed near me in traffic and of all the cars he looked at , I guess he liked mine more. He came running on me and done a nice show with siren and lights, and shouting that i am stupid and careless and that to drive in Germany I should use winter tyres from November till April. I pkayed the part that i did not know and i did not understand German, he let me go but after 30 minutes of real nice show in the middle of the autobahn that was blocked with traffic.

Though I agree that for safety reasons you need the winter tyres, in Poland especialy in the mornings the streets around the forests are full of ice and black ice. It is worth being safe on the Polish roads....... I let you understand that.

By the way I think the air tickets are much cheaper, get a ticket with ryan air to Szczecin and then go with train where ever in Poland, the trains are bloody cheap here.

For sure many drink but I think that most of he poles to do take into consideration the speed limits and if they exceed the spead limit they go twice as much faster. today i was driving on the motor way in the rain the speed limit in normal weather it should have been 90 km but in the rain everyone was driving 130km or more they make you feel that you are doing wrong not them. I am not bothered to drive fast as i have a good racing beakground but racing teached me to discipline myself on the roads.

so when the surfaces is dry are these winter tyres still good? what about germans what they use? I just bought a car from germany it does not have winter tyres it has sport tyres radial maybe all weather, they are nearly slicks i still have grip on the surface with them but i am gonna change them for new, what should i buy?

i am buying a mercedes c class sport still german numberplates the guy have showed me all the documents and even all the books that come with car from mercedes and the number plates are still on. i think if it would be stolen the number plates would have been taken away what do you think?

wroclaw is nice all of it. Szczecin in completely different more slow people take time easy. But now influence from western Europe is taking over here too and i think the people in szczecin they are gonna start finding life difficult. The price have exploded in just two months, starting with rent and everyday needs. I cant realise how they can live with 2,000 zloty whn they pay 1200 zloty rent for appartment.

Where is the flea market in szczecin. I went to some markets here sych as manhattan and turzyn but they all have new clothes and all the same clothes. I like going to market with old things like the ones in london. i wish to get to make some friends that like motorsport here

I did not see the world war II bunkers thanks i will go see them. But then also this cruise on the river dining on the boat. I never saw this in Szczecin. The nly boat that go around the odra here it takes around 40 minutes and they just take you around the dock that is all. The other ship restaruant is always at the same place. Regarding sports things, are there any motor race circuits or go kart trakc that are functiontal. Any English people in Szczecin or maybe someone from MALTA

you go with car to berlin 2 hours then you come back another 2 hours what is left of a sunday i like staying with family i do not mind but still nothing to do for family here unless you want to go for a walk in the park and that is all an d mind you szczecin is not so cheap anymore in the last 2 or 3 months the prices have changed drasticaly. now poland is becoming to taste of the western europe it is a pitty

oh my god galaxy i can't see it anymore i am getting sick. and at this time of the yea going towards the baltic beaches i do not think it is such a good idea so anyone of oyu in szczecin?

after one year here in szczecin i learnt all the holes on the surface of the streets. all you can do on sunday or walk around, or go for beer or coffee or just stay at home. amasing i realised many polish people do not have hobbies.

I went to try to get this residence card. they told me that to stay more the 3 months in poland we need VISA is it true? we are EU members i have been here for much longer and at the border they never stamp my passport how can they know when i cam in poland? did it happen to anyone? and why they ask for insurace I am still not working here but i have paid it always in MALTA. any suggestions?

so if i pay insurance i will have everything ready? if i understood well. i just need to pay insurance and that is all. ok then thanks guys. so compared to malta having a car in poland is realy cheap. in malta we pay for a 1.4 litre engine around 600zl tax and insurance around 2000zl every year for just 3rd part fire and theft

i undersatand what you mean, but if people are talking openly and honestly i do not think one should hide his name. I must draw attention here that forums and internet are not only for people that use it for stupid chatting or any other idioting subjects.

my posts are only meant to help people get information about living in poland. I am person very down to earth and consider anyone that replies to my posts as honest and friendly people that have no inhibitions. well thanks anyway for you help
