Study / anyone with CELTA? [73]

Merged: TEFL, CELTA, TESOL what is the difference between the three?

I have decided I would like to move to Poland and become an English teacher. I have looked online but I don't really quite understand the differences between all of these courses.

Could anyone point me in the right direction to which course would suit me best?
I'm looking to move to Poland, most likely Warsaw, and become a teacher.
I'm eighteen at the moment, does that reach the minimum age to join one of these?
What is this Callan school? *spelling..

Thank you

Work / Do you think I could manage on a salary of 1,500 zł - 2,000 zł a month? [14]

A flat sounds like an apartment to me..
Well I have been saving up.. and hopefully i can manage. I thought you meant that unnecessary taxes would take my pay check.

Is a work permit hard to receive?
Idk if I would trust roommates... what if they steal or what not.
So in your opinion what is a average salary that I would be able to live off of in Warsaw?

Of course if you have some savings to spend for the first year of your stay in Warsaw, you'd be fine, but what I meant is that this kind of income would probably leave you losing each month

Losing each month on my first year there? Or after? Sorry I didn't understand this part

Do you have a better idea of where i should live?
I'm looking for a noisy kind of area were cars go by 24/7 and there are many shops..
I'm not into that whole large plains kind of area. I'm moving from New York, so I'm kinda looking for a busy area.

Please don't tell me not to move..this is my dream. I'm only asking for advice on where is a good area to move and the average apartment cost to rent

What's a flat?
Sorry I never heard that word, is that an apartment?

Is it possible to find cheaper than 1400 zł with bills included in Warsaw? Maybe 1200 zł..being a little frugal, just in case.

I'm looking to work as a chef.. so hopefully i can earn about 2000 zł or more

Work / Do you think I could manage on a salary of 1,500 zł - 2,000 zł a month? [14]

Hello, I have a tiny question

Would it be possible to live in Warsaw on a salary of 1,500 zł - 2,000 zł a month?
I'm looking to rent an apartment, nothing huge..it's just me living there. One bedroom, bathroom, kitchen..the basics

Is it possible to rent and still afford the bills (electric, water, food etc..)

Sorry to bother everyone, just curious

Law / Questions about gaining a Polish citizenship and the process of getting one. [29]

So I'm asking, how long do i live on visas until I am offered temporary residency? How long after I have lived as a temporary residency will I be considered a permanent resident? How long after that will I become a citizen??

I would just like to know the order in which I'm considered a Polish citizen

I seem to not get this, could anyone please dumb it down a little so I can understand

What do I basically have to do? Get on a plane and leave to Poland, once i get there is when i apply for citizenship??

Please and thank you

Work / Culinary jobs and places to learn Polish?? [18]

thanks for the advice,
So would a chef with two years of culinary school not be needed in Poland?
Sorry if I sound naive, So if i could not live off a average chef's salary. What is a good job that will offer decent pay?

What is the basic cost of living?

Thanks,

So if I apply for citizenship (I have Polish great grandparents who are from Poland, but they're dead. My whole family is Polish, but none of them are from Poland, except great grandparents), what do i do while I wait to become a citizen? Would they let me know I'm becoming a citizen? or randomly ill get a passport in the mail. Or while i wait do i have to live off visa's and work permit's..?

Work / Culinary jobs and places to learn Polish?? [18]

Unfortionatly I'm no expert chef, but I am not after money. Yes it would be nice to make more, but I don't care. As long as I'm living my life and enjoying myself is all that matters.

Maybe when I'm in Poland I could find someone to live with, so we can go half's on rent and what not. Are you sure it is 5-10 zł? Just trying to get ready for what's coming. That's a little more than 30,000 zł a year. 5-10 zł sounds a little off, i would at least be thinking 15-20 zł. Haha, ill try my best to get a raise :)..Could i live comfortable off the average chef's salary? As in be able to pay bills (water,electric,rent,..etc) groceries (food, vodka, cigarettes)? Comfortable as in not worrying about getting kicked out or starving.

If I prove i have Polish grandparents, how long does it take to gain Polish citizenship? 5 years?

I plan on working in the culinary field so hopefully I can get employed.

What is the Schengen Zone?
Do I need a visa to stay in the Schengen Zone?
What is the difference between staying in Poland with a visa and staying in the Schengen Zone?
Do I have to live in this so called Schengen Zone?

Sorry if these are stupid questions

Is it hard to gain Polish citizenship?
Are my chances of becoming a Polish Citizen slim to none?
For an employer to sponsor me, how does this work?

Thank you very much

Work / Culinary jobs and places to learn Polish?? [18]

Yeah I'm using Rosetta Stone level two, just started it. I rather take a course where i can physically ask questions. But there are none around my area. Rosetta's is good enough for now.

Yeah, from where i live atm, I hear cars passing by and a train down the block. On the days when there isn't much noise, I usually turn on the television for background noise :)

Any good sites where i can check out the housing market of Poland?
I was thinking a Warszawa but I'm not quite positive on the location.

Thank You
btw, is there a lot a crime in Poland?
I'm trying to compare it to New York

Work / Culinary jobs and places to learn Polish?? [18]

Thanks
I'm trying to learn Polish, I don't have a problem remembering the words just putting them together in a sentence is difficult. I can pronounce most of the words no problem, just the different cases and grammar rules.. it gets confusing. But I'm very determined and I hope all goes as planned.

I want to move to a populated area, I'm used to that kind of surrounding. Where there is noise outside my window 24/7.. I'm not rich and I don't plan on becoming rich anytime soon.

I'm looking to live in a lower middle class area.. I'm moving alone. Do you know of any area where you know there is a large population (not to big) and there is always noise? Cars, Talking..etc??

Do you think you can write me back in a PM please. I don't want to get suspended for going off topic since this is a Work and Study thread.

Could anyone who gained citizenship please explain the process to me?
I have been looking online and called the Polish embassy. But it is still not 100 percent clear.

What paperwork is needed to pack up and move to Poland?

How long does it take before you have to renounce your American citizenship?

What is the order? Do i come on a visa first, then i become a temporary resident, then
permanent resident, then a citizen??

How long can i stay on each residency (visa,temp,perm...)?

Do I need a visa to work if I'm temporary resident?

Any advise about moving to Poland?

Thank You

Work / Culinary jobs and places to learn Polish?? [18]

I have thought about this for a while, I realized this is what I would like to do.
I will be visiting again before 2011. It might sound dumb but I would like to trace my heritage back and go live in Poland, like my ancestors.

How is a average chef's salary?

I don't know much Polish (just the basics), is it hard to learn once you are there?
