I don't consider it as some special day as it's a usual working one. If it really is important to the Catholics it should be a public holiday.


In most places it is a day off so for all it should be.


2 days would be saved(1st and 2nd May), maybe you're right that's better for the economy, but it's a kind of holidays, starting of a barbecue season.

come on, for who? It depends on the native language of a person, eg. for me Russian nad Ukrainian are the easiest, for Chinese - Japanese wouldn't be a problem, I think. It's also a case of an alphabet, the language group, and presonal interests. Hungarian may be as well difficult as Chinese for Europeans, as Hungarian it a Uralic language, not related to any other European language. For those otside Europe - Polish, Russian, Ukrainian may be hard. English is now the international language, it's spoken everywhere so most at least understand it.

you mean not ordinary Poles, but those unemployed labourers, who were brought up by PRL, then drinking all day long was very common - no matter if it was a morning, noon or evening, at work or at home.

Depends where your from. Im sure in fansy Warszawa ... boooooo... people dont drink before noon.
not only in warsow:-) Now, in a city of +/- 200,000 I don't see such people. I used to live in many places, I'm from a little town - about 5,000 - and there they don't drink as well. We shouldn't desctibe all the Poles according to this stereotype.

hello, I'm a fresher here:) native Polish, little English speaking, so please be lenient:)

Americans ordinarily do not drink alcohol until noon. Does any such notion exist in Poland? - of course we do not;) It's international behaviour that applies only to alcoholics.

Other American notions include not going into the water for at least one hour after eating because you’ll get cramps and drown (as far as I know not encountered in Poland). - unfortunately you are wrong:-)

Poles, if they forget something and have to return home, they briefly sit down on a chair. Otherwise it brings bad luck. - as far as I know, it conserns only those superstitious Poles;-)
