Life / Can we christen our child even though I am still married? [7]

Try to find a proper priest

I think Barney hit the nail on the head here. The older generation of priests are set in their ways and as this type of thing may have been frowned upon in days gone by they tend to take the same approach now.

Find a young priest who is more adopt with modern times and society.

Life / Can we christen our child even though I am still married? [7]

Was told today that we cannot christian our baby as im still married, is this true

Hi Andy. I dont think this is true. I know in the Catholic religion in Ireland it is permitted. Some local priests take exception to unmarried couples christening their children in church on Sundays and have to pick a week day but this is the first I have heard of what you stay.

I myself am divorced (however in the eyes of the church I am not) and have a son that I christened when I was separated from my ex (not divorced).

I hope this helps and I wish you all the best.

Life / Communion, why do only half of church-goers in Poland take it? [41]

Why do they even go if they don't take part?

There are many other parts to the mass besides communion.

Perhaps, those that have refrained from Communion would post their reasons?

I am divorced. I went to confession to confess my sins and the priest told me that the Church did not recognise divorce. in the eyes of the Church and God I was still married. I felt ashamed.

Life / Communion, why do only half of church-goers in Poland take it? [41]

true Christians will honour it for obvious reasons

Correct me if im wrong for asking this question....Do all Christians religions partake in the sacrament of communion or is it only Catholics. I mean does Church of England, Methodist, Baptist etc receive communion on a regular basis?

Communion should not be a take it or leave it idea, true Christians will honour it for obvious reasons

That is why devote Catholics in Ireland frown on the receiving of communion by those who do not confess their sins. I believe they are right.

Life / Communion, why do only half of church-goers in Poland take it? [41]

The church is full- but when it comes to receiving Communion; it seems that only about 1/2 the church-goers go up to receive it. Curious if anyone knows why

It would be custom in Ireland amongst regular mass goers that unless you are 'in the state of grace', having confessed your sins and your soul cleansed, then you should not receive the sacrament of holy communion. It also used to be a custom that you had to fast for 1 hour before mass if you were going to receive the body of christ.

Granted, the armed struggle (believe in it or not) often seems to be a necessary path to allow a legitimate political process to come to fruition (see South Africa, Israel, Kenya etc). Shame it leaves so much blood and pain in its wake.

Its hard to wait around for something that you know might not happen but its even harder to give up when you know its everything you ever wanted.

After reading the various posts of the day....with the exception of the now suspended hotel waiter (Revokenice) I am lead to conclude that Polish people in general would be sympathetic to the cause of Re-unification of Ireland. I also thank the various other posters from other nationalities.

I do not for one minute conclude that the Polish people or other agreeded with the violent past from which we have came.

Some people dream of their local team winning a trophy, other yearn to see their country prosper at a chosen sport. For me that dream is a 32 County Socialist Ireland for all the peoples of this island, regardless of religion, colour and ethnic background.

I will continue to work for it and hope that one day that dream becomes a reality.

PPS I would like you to tell us all about Sinn Feins white paper on re-unification, please?

I am. Now, lets see their white paper on re-unification, please

Which is it you want....next you will be looking the orange one !!!

You can have the support of the 38 million Poles

Thanks, that the reason why I set up the thread.

Bit ironic when 38 million Poles will support my aspiration but you seem not too.

Your more interested in spreading hate and venom.

PPS what movement did you say you were aligned too. I know you mentioned it in a previous thread but I didnt pay much attention....you have that effect on people.

Heres the answer to that partionist, rifle dropping, surrender monkey, Ireland32

At least I picked one up you fecking armchair patriot and recognised the time to put it down.

You talk about your Ireland for the Irish but you fail to recognise the legitimate right of people in this country who hold an Irish passport.

You talk about facts and figures, quotes and internet links. It all means nothing if you dont have freedom. Freedom from oppression, Freedom from discrimination as a minority. FREEDOM....the God given right of any man, woman and child.

I started this thread to see if the Polish people had an interest in the re-unification of Ireland. Instead you turn it into a thread to openly undo everything that Sinn Fein have done in the last 100 years to further that aspiration.

The poll was conducted after it was revealed in the Sunday Independent last week that the number of foreign nationals on the Live Register is now about 80,000 -- or around 20 per cent of the total.

Labour, Green Party, Independents.......didnt see any of your elected reps there.....oh thats right you dont have any yet....or ever !!

How many leaders of a political party where there? That video clip went down a storm in West Dublin, let me tell you. It was previously a Sinn Fein strong hold. Not anymore!

All I see in your video clip are people with Irish passports !

In the last general election, Sinn Fein, no points!

The last general election ?? Every small party suffered - Greens, PD's, etc due to the media turning it into a battle of Bertie v Enda and you know that !!

Am I being too presumptuous?

If only it were that simple. In order for it to carry there must be a majority of the people in the 6 counties. That is written into our laws.

Did you know that the then prime minister of UK, Winston Churchill was willing to grant Ireland its re-unification if it gave up its neutrality and fought with the British during WW2?

What about the 1 million or so unionists in Northern Ireland? Who by their very definition want to keep the unionification with the crown? How can they be convinced to join a republic? Surely, they would have to re-define themselves as Irish protestants instead of british loyalists/unionists? Can you see this ever happening?

There are approx 1 million people would occupy the 6 counties of which approx 42% are of nationalist persuasion.

How to convince the approx 48% unionist. Well the country as a whole works on a daily basis as one in matters such as security, agriculture etc.

Remember that these people were Irish protestants before they were British Loyalists. Education on the benefits of an all island Ireland is the only way.

Mass immigration represents the same threat to the identity and future of loyalist natives on this island as it does to us. There in lies the nucleus of a real United Ireland. Goodnight Sinn Fein, sleep well.

Jasus I have never heard such utter crap.

Firstly a re-unification of Ireland will only ocurr when the unionist majoriy in the North are convinced of the benefits that can be had from an all island approach. Economically this will make sense, socially it is harder to achieve. If there are other demoninations or cultures that enter that equation then so be it. They too must be convinced.

Early 1900 leaders were good... but you need someone now. Or wait for another few hundred years to get another youtube video of another great mans speech.

I am simply trying to demonstrate the leaders who have given all for re-unification

We have always had men to carry the mantle

Booby Sands RIP

Do something. Give us all a view of the activities going on. And where?

Where have you been living for the last 30 years.......in a cave.

I am an active member of Sinn Fein. A political organisation that supports and works for the re-unification of Ireland, for all the people of Ireland, regardless of race, colour, creed etc.

Our pricinples are based on Freedom, Justice, Peace & Equality. The movement has been around for approx 100 years. We have allied parties throughout Europe and America. We have elected politicians in Ireland and in the EU.

I have spent my life dedicated to the cause of Irish Unity. I have travelled far and wide to spread the word and gain support.

Our struggle is well known trhoughout the four corners of the globe. It has become tarnished in later years due to dissident organisations.

The spirit of 1916 continues to drive us forward in our quest to re-unite what was taken from us.

Also, the great majority of Poles who are now in Ireland are very apolitical and don't care about the government situation

I disagree with you on this. Polish people ran in the local elections recently in Ireland for a well known political party.

A number of them attend functions and fundrasing events which support the re-unification of Ireland. I was recently asked by a Polish lady if I could get her some T-shirts depicting Irelands struggle to send home to her brothers !

A man who lived and fought for the working class people of Ireland.....all religions and nationalities.

There has been a long and well documented struggle in Ireland to seek the re-unification of the country. The 6 counties in the North continued to be divided from the 26 in the South, which operates its own affairs.

Some people accept that it makes sense, both socially and economically for the island to be re-unified. Others see the right to remain part of the British establishment and stay loyal to the crown (England).

For Polish people living in Ireland, do you have an opinion on this subject?

Do you see the struggle for a Re-unification of Ireland as a worthy cause or a figment of Irish peoples imagination?

Your honest opinions please.

Its a term people use for Irish people. You may have heard of it. It doesnt offend me, if it offends you I apologise.

Yeah heard of it....Paddy, Mick, whatever.

I dont really care how many Irish people are in Poland. Id say if there is work there then you'll find Irish there. What I do care about is how you portray the views of the Irish Nation on this forum.

You would be better placed bringing your splutter to the gates of Leinster House and see where it gets you.........I would hazard a guess at Mountjoy Jail !!

For what its worth...... I condemn the actions of those responsible for issuing such a threat. They do not represent the views of the majority of people who live in the North.

Shame on them.

"The UDA officially ended its violent campaign on 11 November 2007 when it ordered its militant wing, the UFF, to stand down."

Its harder to decommission the minds of some of these people. That is why it pisses me of when pricks like Revokenice came onto the forum acting like 'Cromwell'. He proports to be an Irish Man. For years the Catholic community in the North were treated like a minority. Forced out of their homes, denied jobs and social housing........and he has the nerve to expect us to support his aims to cleanse Ireland of the Poles......

I have been following this merry-go-round of a thread since yesterday evening but it fails to go anywhere. Maybe we should call in RevokeNice to lend a hand yes/no

There are 3 main newspapers in the North of Ireland;

Belfast Telegraph - predominately read by protestants

The Newsletter - as above

The Irish News - aimed at the cathloic community. I suggest Del Boy you use the media that are more likely to support your voice and would appreciate a dig at the opposition.
