News / Poland. Sold for nothing. [341]

Good point, Randal. Germans as always try to divide the world with Russians. Did it once. Let's not be fools and let them do it again.

News / Poland. Sold for nothing. [341]

As compared to: "Sorry I know you have paid but you will still freeze because we can't get the gas because the middleman steals it/has a fight in with the deliverer/sits on it/is unable to care for the pipeline and now they leak/*insert any other reason*" ?

Are you a fool or just pretend to be,BB? Didn't German delegates report on who shut-off the gas to Europe or they are as always licking Russian a**?

And why didn't you defend more diversification of the energy sources? Nostalgy? ;)

News / Poland. Sold for nothing. [341]

It has made enemies in antagonising Russia and maybe even Iran. It has been relegated to a bargaining chip. The deal was signed after all. No defence at all now.

Poland and Ukraine should co-operate in their defence system. I hope some day Ukrainian politics and economy will stabilize and together we can build our own system of protection without US manoeuvering and Russian capricious pouting all the time. Before that it is necessary to build some piping from other sources than Russia so energetically these two countries are not dependent on "moods" of others. Working with Middle East - Iran and Iraq as well as with Azerbajdzan, Georgia and Armenia and other Caspian sea countries may be of great value.

Life / Damn proud of being (half) Polish [77]

Has anything lasted forever in the history of mankind?

Stupidity, laziness and curiosity - three driving forces of our civilization existed from the beginning.

History / Taras Bulba - the movie [115]

Yes,but Russians call Ukrainians hochli while Ukrainians call Russians Moskoli.I have found it is not a good idea to call a Russian Moskoli.

Ukrainians call Russians "kacapy". "Moskali" is a bit nicer for Russians. The name "kacapy" comes from beards Russians had on their chins and looked like he-goats or kozly. In Ukrainian he-goat is "cap" (like in Polish if I am not mistaken), so from here you have the name "kacap". Cossacks used to call them exclusively like that. "Moskali" appeared in 19th century expressions for recruited soldiers fighting for the tsar and not necessarily Russians. All who forgot their language in favor of that language were called "moskali".

Actually today's Ukrainians call them ''Poliachy''.

Southern, do you speak any language at all? It is "POLIAKY" which means "POLACY" in Ukrainian.

History / Why communism failed in Poland? [275]

I preffer monarchy to republic and absolutism to democracy.

This is exactly what communism inevitably leads to.

History / Why communism failed in Poland? [275]

Communism is an ideal system for shameless parasites who like to suck out of the work of others while doing nothing. All they know is how to make others believe that this is OK and invent new ways to exploit others. Any contradiction is being suppressed because it undermines their "history" and "right" to say what to do.

History / Why communism failed in Poland? [275]

Capitalism isn't perfect as any structure that was, is and ever will be created by humans. There can't be anything perfect in the world which if left alone due to the entropy will go to chaos. But capitalism can't ever be compared to a degraded form of living called communism where slogan "everyone will get according to his desires and from everyone is demanded according to his abilities" prospers. If you don't have private property and you are forced to put your talents to the grave like was in the corrupted Soviet Union, you don't really evolve or care. There have always been a big problem with alcoholism in that retarded formation of countries. One of the reasons was that you couldn't be prosperous and get rich, develop your ideas, write something new (all was to follow the harsh ruler of the "party"), travel abroad to see other people and compare your "constant deficit" living with theirs. Drinking was a solution for many and I can understand why. Many of the medicine branches as well as science (except for flying into the space - how nice - and military) are underdeveloped and will stay like that for many years to come. Communist leaders and big shots of that system go to capitalist countries to get treated with different diseases. Why not stay in theie country, Cos? Would you be able to write here on this forum if your country was communist now like China? I don't think so. Capitalism is not perfect as I said, but it is the most advanced considering all others and benefit much more people than in the Soviet Union where only party leaders lived like kings and the rest were scared and poor. I didn't mention about billions and billions of dollars they stole during collectivization and appropriation as well as when the Soviet Union collapsed and all the savings people had where somehow "lost"!!! There should be a great investigation on that issue. So, please, stop your foolish talk of communism glorification, because it is nonsense at best.

History / Roman Dmowski- Polish Adolf Hitler? [219]

As we will see, most countries had a sizeable portion of tanks in 1939

In fact, Czech Republic had almost equal amount of tanks to Germans in 1938. If they were supported then by the West (at least by words and not betrayed), Germans would have never annexed Sudeten and after that other territories.

Ukrainians fought for the Nazis

Some Ukrainians fought on Nazis' side first year of the war, but definitely not FOR Nazis. Later they fought against them.

History / UPA barbarian murders on Polish and Jewish neighbors during WW2 [150]

Sasha:
My purpose was merely to show that Nathan's approach essentially duplicated what you heard in Russian Duma with the only exception of the descriptive adjective... "Ukranian" instead of "Russian".

Sasha, be so kind to explain in what I duplicated Russian Duma's attitude in talking about my country?

And you, Nathan, just try to be less patriotic because it's bad for human brain

Agree on every point you said before, Blacklack. But being patriotic is not bad for your brain. It depends what you claim to be patriotic. "Uber alles" and other proclamations are not patriotic, they are chauvinistic and retarded at best. You will never find me saying these. For me being patriotic is to love your country, culture, land and people and at the same time have respect for all others in the world. I never claimed Polish land or Russian. I want my country's people to be rich and happy, because I think we deserve it. Is there something wrong in it?

In March 2006 the then minister of justice came on TV (news on "1+1") and called people living and Eastern and Southern Ukraine "savages who don't like to wash themselves".

Never heard this, but only a brainless politician (we have many) could say something like that.

Has such a state any future, what do you think?

Of course, it has. I am not there, so I can only state as I would see it. Orange revolution was a big half-step forward. We didn't finish it. We were split in half between two parties, instead of being united under one goal - to make our country better. Politicians on both sides sold us to their own interests. I talked to many people since then and many say " I went in cold to Kijiv and now what I have - I will never vote again or do anything like this". This is what makes the difference. We came and we left. We should keep firing those politicians on a daily basis, not once in a lifetime. Never give up and never hope that somebody else will come and will give us a bread. This is nonsense I hear from old people. I agree with you on president as well. I voted for him and I was hoping he would keep his promises, but he didn't. I don't know what rules him - fear for kids or simple greed for one's pockets. The only thing I know is never split ourselves in Russian-speaking and Ukrainian-speaking camps. We are Ukrainians who want to live well in our own country - that's it. Anyone trying to undermine it is not a patriot, but a sick s.o.b.

History / Taras Bulba - the movie [115]

In my opinion, Bogdan Stupka is an ideal actor for playing B. Chmelnyckyj and Taras Bulba as his appearance and play is what I see were the traits of these two people. He's great.

Polish soldiers wear funny helmets, like gladiators. :):):):) Cheap propaganda.

Funny I agree and Taras Bulba looks like a Japanese samurai, not like a Ukrainian cossack.
Maybe they were depicting some Japano-Roman war when Cesar lost his compass and ended in the Pacific ocean close to Japanese shores.

I wish you stayed there.

Alexander, you don't believe that we defeated Poles in 1612 by means of magic, is it possible?

I am waiting for Konotop battle movie, it will be called "1657". I'll go.

But we can say he was of Ukrainian origin not to hurt our Ukrainian friends. :):):)

killed by their ukrainian neighbors during their sleep

How did they know the murderers were Ukies if they were killed asleep? Plus many Polish I know can't distinguish between Russian and Ukrainian. And I am not blaming anyone here - it's Ok.

It is a proven fact that Russians wore uniform to pronounce their belonging to UPA just to fool Poles and bring in anger against Ukrainians because this way it is much easier to fight.

NEEDED way of getting rid of you...

Cool, Juliet. But it would be of advantage to both nations if you did Wisla to yourself I think - no conflict would have risen and no need to get rid of anybody.

Yes, Borrka, I know. If this disease of treating others as "malo" can't be cured in Russia, I wish Ukraine catch this disease and become sick as well. This way we will look at each other similarly with no respect and with great arrogance.

History / UPA barbarian murders on Polish and Jewish neighbors during WW2 [150]

Thank you, Miranda, for understanding. I wanted to give a reply to Sasha, but basically all I wanted to say was in your words. I'll add just a bit.

Sasha: Proof of what you could see in his posts I wonder?

Proof that I am a healthy human being who loves his country as well as all its neighbors as long as they are not spitting in my soup.

Sasha, I am for life and not for war. I want my country to be free as all the others. I hate when outside forces keep on influencing elections, bribing politicians and playing in media by lives of millions of people. You know why? Because it steals future from many young generations who would like to live a normal life and not in a politically and economically retarded circumstances.

I don't need attention as you mentioned to be one of my primary concerns and of those who share my views. Do I like Polish? Of course, I do. I have with Poland more than you could ever imagine.

Imagine for a sec (I know that's impossible) that you're Russian

The same seems impossible for you to be in my place and see it through my eyes. I am not saying that you overestimate Moscow or that you fled from it to Canada. I never said that Russians can't understand what you are saying just because I have a different viewpoint. "Uber alles" - if this was my objective, I would be mentioning tanks and Moscow's levelling which I never did. So, Sasha, be so kind not to twist what I am saying.

Some politicians of your country, e.g. Nemcov or Yavlinskij who represent Russia the whole world dreams of and respects because they passed over limited chauvinistic ideas of many and began to work on improving democratic way of life in your country. Let Russia work with its problems and Ukraine - with its own. That's all I am saying.

Natty just a piece of advice for the future

Listen, advisor, you said that I fled to Canada from L'viv (which I overestimate in your words somehow) in order not to die of hunger. Then you said that Ukrainians don't understand my language and that I am an outcast. Did I misinterpret something?

Nathan: My real enemies are people with "blind spots" and "annexation" and those who say that "Ukrainians don't understand what language you speak, outcasts".

What's wrong with me saying it? Naming some people "enemies" I am not saying that I am going to shoot them or beat them up. I just strongly disagree with them and consider their thoughts not logical - that's it. So, please, stop martyrdom about which you were whining for so long yourself. By the way, I am not presenting Ukraine as a martyr. I am just defending its actions in the past, in many of which some consider themselves to be martyrs. Should I mention other countries while presenting my point of view? Probably, but to mention all involved will dilute the essence of what I am saying.

Nathan: I won't try to persuade you on that. My Ukrainian is as pure as water from Carpathian mountains, I wish you could appreciate it.

You don't have to. You again play as if you're "über alles" in Ukraine and only your Ukranian is "pure as a water blah-blah".

Knowing your language with excellence (of course, I don't, - it takes time and lots of practice) was always considered as a bad sign for chauvinists like you. Why shouldn't I be proud of knowing my language and comparing it to purity of water? I would be glad and happy to hear anybody else here and in Russia to say the same words about their languages.

It's well-known fact that Benderovian (deliberately Polonized and Germanized) can be hardly understood by those who speak proper Ukranian.

Benderovian? What in hell are you talking about? What language is that? Do you speak it in Russia when you get drunk? I never spoke "Benderovian". I speak some languages, but this one escapes even my general knowledge. By the way, if you have a dictionary - let me know - I'll buy and check it out.

Nathan: Come to Ukraine, have fun, enjoy everything it offers, but be a human and stop your chauvinistic behaviour.

Says who?! This is you whose chauvinistic entity shines through all your words.

Sorry man, but this is past nuts. Inviting Polish to Ukraine when it will be rich and more interesting for tourists is my "chauvinistic behavior"? Wake up. "Says who?" - says what? Am I missing something?

if you are not satisfied with the living welfare in Russia pls do some good for Ukraine and set us an example to follow

It's Russian business what you are doing up there. I am not interested in your welfare and economics as long as it doesn't involve my home. Russia keeps on putting its nose in my country's affairs, doesn't it? Would you answer this question without any bias? I wish it lived with Ukraine as Poland lives with Lithuania, or Germany with France.

Stop barking.

I am not a dog to bark. But since you consider it to be barking and you understood so much as to write such a long reply - it doesn't bother me, call it whatever you want.
