Polonia / Germans: Do Poles like them or dislike them? [217]

.just look at how successful the nailing down of the constitution has been.....lol

heheh frank, it will be back, it will be revised and it will pass ehehehehehehehehehehe

i bet my bottom dollar on it...if i had a dollor.

frank, WWI was not called so until WW2 it was ;the great war; WW2 was called the war to end all was due to the shear magnitude of it, not because it was the last war..Yeesch! the worst part is, i think you knew that and said it anyway!

peace out! whats in the rules against that????

and YOU cant predict it (the future) either.

I hold a positive view for it

you would seem to hold a negative (i hope im wrong)

Polonia / Germans: Do Poles like them or dislike them? [217]

man has never really "learned".......be honest.....

wow, and the award for most pessimitic view goes to.....

man has learnt, in many fields! (education, health, science, etc, etc) in a political sense too!
desptism, hereditary rule! dictatorships, republics, democracy

the all developed from the former, you could not have democracy today if it had not been for the socio-political history of mankind QED man has learned.

it is not the end of the learning and it is not perfect but it is a big improvment of the past
i think ill liver here frank, you can live in 18th centuary france under king louis!? tell me how the revolution goes? :)

lol frank your funny and i do agree the arguement is cyclical as we will never aggree but i had already pointed out WE are going in circles in an earlier post

the matter still remains, that evolution is not cyclical, it is slow and steady and progressive.
politics, is a more skewed beast due to the complexity of its nature...us! :)
but you deny that progress has been made when clearly it has!

the UN was created after the league of nations as it collapsed (the UN being an improvment)
WW1 was the war to end all wars in its day and so was WW2 in its, in fact - i wouldnt be surprised if all wars in certain times were described as such so neiter of us will ;win; that point but it s not about succeding and failing...or is it :)

a famous baker was asked about how he prefected makeing the souflet.

he also said, its too early to tell! :P

youve JUST PROVED ME point! NON CYCLICAL BABY!!

Quoting: daffy
you would seem to hold a negative (i hope im wrong)

Entirely.....

cool, so your not negative on the view for the future (it cert seems an odd view)

what is it then|?

History / Katyn- forgiven and forgotten? [111]

it is our responsibility to keep issues like Katyn alive,

so that it canot be let happen again. So many time in many countries there are atrocities committed and slowly but surely through awareness of the pain, suffering and evil of it - it will see an end.

Feedback / Regarding an announcement on cleaning the forums [18]

For sure we won't have a moderator who takes action based on his/her personal preferences...

too true too true! i was a moderator of my university forum (one of many) we all had different opinons but all we ended up doing was cleaning and moving :) we did not abuse power as to do so - was to sign your moderatership death sentance - AND nothing could get it back!!!

Feedback / Language thread feedback [3]

Hey, Can we possibly make stickies of the best, useful posts in this section?

like verbs, phrases, cases etc. and clearly label them as such?

And leave the individual questions below.

keeping the translation section to its own section again?

UK, Ireland / Heavy drinking culture in the UK - is it still the same in Poland? [69]

In Ireland too! I was in the Army reserver for four years ( a great experience) but when we were off duty in the middle of nowwhere - drink was all that was there!!! crazy!!!

And its a sad state of affairs in the British isles (geographically, not politically - this includes the island of ireland) Drinking culture is ridiculous!

And the eastern Europeans (not all) fit in very nicely to this! And from being in Poland - i can see the same culture is there.

I dont drink as much as i used to - maybe 3-5 pints over an entire night and maybe a short or two for special occasions but even then - i am prob not in the pub more than once a month!!

What are yer views? drinking level?

Love / Foreigners in relationships with Poles - do your in-laws accept you? [66]

I am 23, she is 23 (she is 2 months older)

We love each other. I am Irish, she is Polish. Her family were very warm and welcoming on the few occasions i have stayed with them.

The funny thing was, that all her friends would ask her (she told me) was I a catholic. i dont like that, i was raised a catholic but i would never let that hinder my love. Nor her's but she just said it was funny and typical polish reaction, i guess i cant blame them, I know it was an Irish atitude too.

It's a distance relationship at present. She is finishing her masters and i my degree and accountantcy exams. We hope to live together then. But my family and her family have been so welcome, supportive and for lack of better words - family!

Love, has no boundries. I believe this and am living this.
