Travel / Does Malbork Have a "Couchette Ticket Booking counter" open at 21.00? [3]

hi Basia..

i thought i replied to the post a long while back.. and now a general scan made me realise that i didn't reply ... or i posted but it didn't clear the moderators for some reason!

so thanks a lot for taking the time out and replying...
i finished my visit.. had absolutely no problem with booking my tkts at night... the Taxis were fantastic.. and most importantly, the Malbork Castle was simply fabulous!!

Travel / Going to ski to Poland. Maximum snow? [29]

aye .. finished his trip.. but continuing the issue of Hotels with ski slopes / instructors / equipment..
i pre-booked at "Zab".. for some reason pronounced as "Zom" ( funny... i would have understood if it was named "Zom" in the local dialect.. but reading " Z A B" and pronouncing as "Zom"???).. anyway.. the relevant input is that Hotel Redyk was really good.. English speaking staff, ski lift 50 m away.. horse-sleigh rides.. enough equipment on hire.. English speaking ski instructors (though u need to pre-book them too..) and excellent ambience overall...

trying to upload a pic taken of the Hotel, clicked from the Ski Slope..

Travel / Does Malbork Have a "Couchette Ticket Booking counter" open at 21.00? [3]

If i reach Malbork at night, can I buy tickets and also book a Couchette for a train leaving for Krakow after about 3 hours?

I guess not many people are aware of Malbork, my previous post is still unanswered about Taxis in Malbork.. (Is it a very small town?)

Travel / What's the fare from Kaliningrad to Malbrok by train? [3]

Checked out! (from the horse's mouth, I should say) ie right from the Kaliningrad railway station ticket counter.
650 rubles till Malbrok as on today!
I guess about 35 euros from Malbrok to Krakow..
thanks kovalski, this post has successfully reached a conclusion!

Travel / Do Polish Railway Stations have Rest Rooms [10]

Thanks Harry and Ukpolska..

I have to wait for about 3 hrs at Malbrok railway station for my connection to Krakow,

have a look round and then find a cafe.

the problem is that its just too late in the night (my train from Kaliningrad leaves me at 2107 hrs and the PKP train picks me up at around midnight, if my homework is alright..)

I hope i can see through the time!!

Travel / Do Polish Railway Stations have Rest Rooms [10]

Can I find some clean and comfortable Rest Rooms / Waiting rooms (with Public Conveniences (WCs etc)) at Railway Stations at Krakow, Warsaw and Malbork for spending 2-3 hours?

Do I need to pay for them? (How Much?)
Do i need to show that I am waiting for a connecting train?

Travel / What's the fare from Kaliningrad to Malbrok by train? [3]

Now that my departure date is round the corner, can anyone please tell me how much is the fare from Kaliningrad to Malbrok by train? Since it is an international train, no website seems to have listed it... or may be i haven't tried real hard..[but pse, Polishgirltx, do not tell me to run a search in the previous posts.. an info of 2006 is really no good to me :) Plus, I 've been working hard on the net for other things, so some easy tips are really welcome]

And yes, 5 days for Poland include 2 days each in Zakopane and Krakow and rest in travelling..! no Warsaw, no Gdansk and no Wroclaw.. am I being fair or could I have sprinkled some more sightseeing places??

(remember, all you free Singles that you are replying to a family man lugging two adventurous kids along!)

Blame the Homework part... I just happened to read "similar posts" and ended up with

"Polish Train Travel - Scary?"

WIth two night journeys in 6 days, I am not showing this post to my wife !

Travel / kl 1 or kl 2 ? First Hand Experiences please.... [9]

As your trip to Malbork would take some 13 hours

I know that's pretty long but well, we are prepared !! :)

I recommend early booking your seat for MIEJSCE DO LEZENIA -Couchettes- or more expensive -SYPIALNY- Sleeping-car

that's the "main task" that I hope I can do when I leave Kaliningrad and reach Krakow.. I hope the 4-days-in-Advance booking would be enough!

The train you are to take has only class 2 seats.

Can't help it... with regards the time, that's most convenient for us (hopefully the baby will sleep through the night!) Hey... but will i atleast have the options of "MIEJSCE DO LEZENIA -Couchettes- in this train?

Travel / kl 1 or kl 2 ? First Hand Experiences please.... [9]

Thanks Kowalski.. all these clues are precious!

If you plan to take the train from Zakopane toward Krakow I'd recommend not to

My return journey plans are from Zakopane till Malbork. heading towards Kaliningrad ... would you now recommend taking a direct train from Zakopane to Malbork (P35702, the PKP timetable says)and then a connection to Kaliningrad?

In this scenario, is there a feasibility of me booking my return tkts from , say, Zakopane, immediately after landing there (31 Jan?)

so what's your take on this?

Thanks again..

Travel / kl 1 or kl 2 ? First Hand Experiences please.... [9]

Both are perfectly safe -

That's really reassuring! :)

Unless you're travelling on really popular dates

Guess the Polish Kids will be let loose in Feb 09 for their Vacations... If so, then my return dates (05-06 Feb) would be right amidst the "popular dates"!

In this scenario, is there a feasibility of me booking my return tkts from , say, Zakopane, immediately after landing there (31 Jan?)

Thanks inkrakow for ur time!!

Travel / kl 1 or kl 2 ? First Hand Experiences please.... [9]

That's on the PKP Route Planner .. Should I assume that it is I class or II Class??

And with a family of Four, would both kl1 and kl2 be OK? (read as "safe"?)

And how important it is to book beforehand? (And how easy or difficult is it to book online?)
