News / "We buy out Poland, Hungary, and Romania!" - the President of Israel [74]

There's business and there's "lets buy 'em out".

No no no, lol, they are not going to buy you out they are going to invest and believe me, you guys will be the winners the more investors you can find. It will help your economy.

Don't listen to the paranoia of Seanus up there.

News / "We buy out Poland, Hungary, and Romania!" - the President of Israel [74]

How to think about that? First it looks to me like a joke, but finally the last sentence is quite improtant. I'm not antisemitic, to say that first, but obviously the influence of the jewish lobby in poland is rising exponentially, e.g. if you see such projects like the planned "Shalom Tower" in Warsaw:
This project will cost more than several hundred million Euro, where does all this money come from?

Seanus, I know we disagree sometimes but is it really worth you trying to make me think I've lost my ever loving mind? I was referring to the above quote, the construction of Shalom Tower in Warsaw.

Oh, it's okay, Seanus, lol, I thought it humorous anyway. Misunderstandings.
I don't find anything strange about it and if the same thing were happening here people would be ecstatic because it would bring a lot of jobs and mega $$$$$ to the area and where I live, that's all that matters. It's a bunch of neo con republicans and all they care about is jobs, money and tax dollars.

News / Polish engineer beheaded in Pakistan. [347]

A War on Terror should not be impeded like it is.

Seanus, I was reading about the Mossad and 9/11 online and did you know the Mossad had intelligence information gathered, the Egyptians tried to warn the US but they weren't taken seriously? The Egyptians were warning months in advance about Al Queada/Bin Laden operatives planning an attack.

It wasn't like the Mossad was in on it, just gathered intelligence and gave the intelligence to the US.

History / Jewish love towards Poles [389]

I think there can be a great relationship between jews and poles and think this is outcome should be cultivated.
The truth about the Bielski Brothers is they wouldn't have acted the way they did had the Germans never invaded. The Poles wouldn't have if the Soviet Union hadn't invaded as well.

What can you do when you have no choice?

Well, I know about all the machinatons of the Rockefellers, that great American family dedicated to the 'service of humanity'...but I had never focused on this Flexner...he was a piece of work!

Joe, you are an American on this forum obsessed with jews in a way that is sort of strange.

History / Why communism failed in Poland? [275]

Well, then, how do you explain the Bush expenditure and the sucky economy? You are just putting different labels on the same bs.

News / Poland embraces new effort to fight anti-Semitism [138]

There are certainly entitled to feel a connection to the land of Israel in a spiritual sense,

That has to do with the Passover which is the most important holiday in Judaism. Every year the story of the Passover is read in the spring during supper, about how the early hebrews were enslaved by the Pharoah in Egypt, how Moses managed to get them freed, the miracle at the Red Sea and wandering in the desert for forty years. Once they found Israel (the promised land) they were truly freed. It's a spiritual place for some people and they want to live in the places that the original twelve tribes lived after they were freed. The story of the Passover is a story of a people being freed.

There are many of them, but they're mostly to be found in the US not Poland.

I don't know if this is true. I live in the US and don't notice anti polish jews here. I notice non jews who are anti polish however. Anti Polonism is a problem for me and I agree it should be confronted but first we have to be honest about all the sources.

My evidence is similarly anecdotal, but the majority of Jewish Americans I've met either have no knowledge of Poland, or a negative opinion, mostly the later.

I've known jews here in the US and they have all been nice. Seriously, when I was in jr high school, a student with parents from Germany was in one of my classes and the teacher sat him behind me and he scooted his desk as far away as he could. I've experienced more discrimination from people of German origin over here.

Every jew I've met here has been nice to me.

And that was because you have a Polish name.

I disagree. I think it was because this particular student was a stupid, idiotic jerk so he was actually doing me a favor...I didn't want to catch his ignorance.

What did you do to the guy? What happened?

NOTHING. That's the thing. I was not much of a talker, kind of shy, kept to myself since I was such a minority ie NO other people with any hint of polish whatsoever. I didn't cause him any problems. In fact, I said nothing when he scooted his desk way back (he was the last one in the row). This was in an English class (grammar, etc, not english language). I also had him in a biology class but he sat on the other side of the room. I think I made him uncomfortable. He never said anything to me but he sure did avoid me and didn't want anything to do with me. Of course at the time I was naive and had no idea why, lol.

That's lovely, but we're having a conversation here about politics and history.

I'm posting about anti polonism even though the kind I experience is slightly different. It can be experienced by an entire nation by another nation or civic group, or it can be experienced by an individual by other individuals, ie: trying to get a job and not making it past the interview just because the interviewer is biased against the polish.

True enough, but HatefullBunch397 was telling how she sometimes felt when in school because of her Polish name, especially with a German student who treated her unfairly. Not everyone has that same experience, so maybe it helps to know that you have to take each person on an individual basis.

That was one example, but he wasn't the only one who acted stupid. I'm sure I retaliated against them (if they said something to me I said something similar back) although, I admit the guy with German parents was quiet and more polite than others. The only thing that stands out about him is the way he moved his desk back and at the time I was so surprised I didn't know what to think or react. But anyway he is just one example. My experience has been one of general anti polonism and to be fair, others were worse than the German guy who was quiet but not antagonistic.

I am not going to gloss over them though. They were anti polish, which in this case, anti me because I was the only polish one there. They were pretty much white anglo saxon protestant types.

And another thing, they were not just anti polish, but pretty much anti everything that's not white anglo saxon protestants. Typical idiot rednecks, imo.

Junior high stories are nice and I feel for you that boys are not falling over you, but we are trying to have an adult discussion here.

It's a comment on anti polonism and it has nothing to do with a specific gender. It's not about personal problems, it's about anti polonism. This is a serious issue for some of us.

News / Is tan skin common among polish people? [57]

My grandmother's polish (born in US) and she has medium skin tone, not too dark but not extremely pale...My great grandmother was very pale, and she's from Poland.

I never had trouble getting a tan either, unlike my mom who has a lot of Irish ancestry and has never been able to get a tan. I wear plenty of sunscreen tho, gotta watch out for those ultra violet rays.

Life / Homosexuals in Poland / Hands off (PETITION) [797]

what is needed is nice long experience in re-education camp where even most ardent recividists and counter-revolutionaries bend in the end

Nah, no one would agree to it.

Life / Homosexuals in Poland / Hands off (PETITION) [797]

Yes, the whole "homophobe" thing is the farce. They use it as implication that any critics are themselves gay. It's petty and childish and, frankly, rather gay.

If people want to call themselves gay I have no problem with it as long as they aren't obnoxious about it and try to convince me everyone is gay. Sometimes that happens.

Life / Homosexuals in Poland / Hands off (PETITION) [797]

I don't care if someone is gay.

I have known gays and bisexuals, I am not a homophobe and it doesn't matter to me what they choose to do. The thing they do that crosses the line is, certain gay people, try to seduce straight people or convince others that everyone is either gay or bisexual and the rest of us are in some great denial over it. This is their mistake...

Life / Homosexuals in Poland / Hands off (PETITION) [797]

It's not true and it makes people like Randal appear both homophobic and therefore gay when he is in fact, not. Then he gets pissed at people and dislikes the homosexual agenda...

Life / Homosexuals in Poland / Hands off (PETITION) [797]

I think he and others who think like him have a legitimate point. They aren't into the gay lifestyle and some gays will say they are homophobic and closeted because they are not. He isn't saying he is anti gay, he's saying he doesn't like the pushiness of the agenda. The idea that everyone is gay or bi and it's part of sexuality for everyone and if you disagree you are a closeted homosexual. Some gays really do think this way.

Life / Homosexuals in Poland / Hands off (PETITION) [797]

The gays don't even believe this themselves.

I have known gays who have told me this so I know some of them believe it. They want to seduce a straight guy because they think everyone is gay they just need to be seduced. I disagree with this mentality. It's too pushy.

Constantine, so you aren't gay? I thought you said were?

Constantine, I am sorta confused...for one thing I thought you were a woman, like me. I am not a guy.
Personally, if you were gay, it wouldn't matter to me so if you want to say you are gay, it doesn't bother me. I think people should be who they are but not pushy with others.
