News / Should Polish citizens living abroad have the right to vote in elections [69]

that they truly love their country but other countries offer better conditions.

Then I contend that they don't love it. Just like with peolpe if you REALLY love them you stay and try to make things better not run off to a 'better' option. I am still for having your voting rights suspended whilst you live abroad.

It doesn't mean that I don't love my country

But did you come to Poland because life is of a better quality than home? I know that CAN be somewhat subjective....but I contend if you love something you do your best to see that it or they have the best life possible and work within to do so. You don't run off so that YOUR life is more comfy and then say "but I LOVE Poland". Really that makes about as much sense as leaving your wife for a hot young thing and expecting people to believe "but I LOVE her"....righhhtt.

Doesn't fly.....

I still expect to be able to vote back home

What do you feel gives you that right? And I don't mean the legal right but the practical right.

People living there need the results of the election much more than you. To you it is irrelevant in day to day life but to them it could be life changing.

OK, mainland Americans voted for a war abroad. That seems pretty "life changing" to me. Stick that in ur pipe and smoke it!

Not at all the same thing...they thought they were voting to ensure the safety of themselves and other free nations. And in some cases they were....not in Iraq in my opinion....

I still say only those living there and natural born should be able to vote. You would see a HUGE shift in many elections in my opinion if the out of touch expats were not voting.

Poland in next 20 years is not going to be richer than USA, UK or France

B-O-L-L-O-C-K-S

Sorry that is nonsense.

Edited:
HAHAHA....I messed up...and am leaving it here for all to see so that nobody can accuse me of hiding anything. I thought you said Poland IS going to be richer.

Phew...I thought you blew a screw there...glad to see it was MY mistake.

Ash....we know what life SHOULD be like and what life really IS like.

Poland is simply not welcoming to other races and religions. It is just reality. You will not be treated as you wish here and most likely will never integrate but rather live within a closed community of those like you. That is if you even stay here long enough. Her family will probably not accept you...they may be polite at first but in the long run it will not be pleasant. You also have to consider the possibility that she is caught up in you because you are 'different' and 'exotic' and when that wears off she will be done with you. It is extremely common though not always the case.

Sorry to be a downer but that is just the way it is.

Love / How does Polish men feel towards Asian girls?? [137]

who is that girl in the picture

I wish her name was Mrs GTD.

There is some pop chick in Japan who is part Japanese and part American I think? Anna something...blond hair...cute as hell...only speaks Japanese. She looks more 'white' and it is odd to hear her speak Japanese and struggle with English.

If humanity lasts long enough (I am talking tens of thousands of years here) we will all blend to the point we look the same anway.

Repay my debt :)

I will just shoot you from a distance with my 'gat'.

racist ...

Racist because I don't believe a nation will be richer than certain others? Jesus....I didn't say Poland will not be richer because Poles suck or are idiots. It is a market and development issue. I just don't believe it will happen.

but that's not always the case

As I said clearly...it is not always the case. But it is much more common than the other way around. People should just not go into it with unreal expectations.

History / German POWs after WW2 - did the allies commit mass murder? [228]

Life / A trip to a Polish supermarket [136]

They all look very busy, most of the time too busy for the customer.

Must be a hangover from communism, I don't know how they can survive.

That is exactly what it is from...making jobs for everyone even if it is not needed. It is a Polish art to act 'busy'...

So what ?

Are you saying integration is not important? Do you believe immigrants should live in insular communities and never adopt any local ways?

What a ridiculously reactionary reply.

Must I agree with every aspect of a place to be there? Hell if that were true there isn't a place on Earth I could stay...the same for most people if they are honest.

So you clowns have a leader? How cute.

But as much as I disagree with Greg's comments he doesn't seem as nutty as you and your boys.

There are too many things like this in Lithuania.

Odd....I have been to Vilnius a few times and it was no worse than here in my opinion. Maybe I hit different shops.

Language / difficult English words for Polish speakers? [119]

so many years in the us, everyday contact with english speakers and i can't loose my accent and make mistakes... is it my ignorance or what?

Nope...physiological changes occur in our voice boxes and muscles used to make sounds as we age. Only people who learn starting very young or those who do a LOT of spcialized training are going to be accent free.

Don't sweat it..and remember...most guys like a cute accent ;)

USA, Canada / Polish style Thanksgiving in USA [11]

Today, 14:53 Report #8

I guess we have the typical american stuff, turkey, cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes. But my mom makes the best stuffing ever.

I am going to miss that :(

Even when I try to approximate things here it is never the same as the ingredients are not the same really.

cranberry sauce. I don't recall every seeing it in PL.

They sell it in a jar...Zurawina something or other...I buy it all the time. The best is still made with real cranberries and cooking them down in sugar.

no matter what their intent is..its either a bad word to use or its not.....I am quite ok about calling people from Pakistan Paki,s as long as they are not offended by it....if its a bad word then nobody should use it...Pakistani people included..

Where do you draw the line then? About half the Pakistanis I know are offended by the term Paki and half not at all. When does it become a 'bad' word? I call black people black with no ill intent...it describes them just as I am white.

With some words like 'n!gger' it's quite clear it is offensive when said to someone but I reject this idea I can't say the word when talking about the issue as long as I am not calling someone by it...saying "the n-word" is stupid.

Being polite is good....1984 control of language is not. Your bin liner story shows how humanity is truly lost.....

Yeah that's different than what I was driving at specifically but a very good point. If you are going to call people within your ethnic group by an 'iffy' or blatantly wrong name, then you are going to have a hard time getting sympathy or even semantic understanding from those outside your race.

Travel / Ryanair cancelling flights to Poland at short notice [55]

I'm having a week in Poland in December and this is making me seriously consider getting the coach or train rather than flying. I've done it before and it's not as bad as you'd expect.

Trains are comfortable if you don't mind the changes and the time...but I would advise you to avoid coaches unless you are into pain. Unless it is one of those super expensive 'first class' style coaches that are popping up....most of them are miserable.

UK, Ireland / POLISH TEENAGER MURDERED IN UK..man convicted [28]

Yep...so true. When I was last back in the US the younger sister of someone I knew was writing me all excited about some guy in NY who was going to pay for her flight over and give her a place to stay while finding her a job. I tried my best to warn her off but she was having none of it and I was just ruining her dreams in her eyes. I lost touch and don't know if she ever went but I hope not. That guy had 'predator' written all over him.

wow!!!!and they been dissin muslims and other nationalities...but again am sure doesnt mean all poles are like that just like all muslims are not terrorists..people with a brain understand...people with sh8t in their heads, well, they going to talk sh8t ofcourse.hows tricks guruji?everything ok?

Really not the same thing...this is not even remotely common for Polish behavior but the things many peolpe are bothered by are common behaviors of muslims. I do agree not ALL muslims are terrorists...but name another religion that is blowing things up and cutting off people's head right now? There is an ingrained problem in the interpretations and beliefs. Even your own country is archaic in it's treatment of women and many customs.

The people here who say all muslims are evil and stinky are idiots...but that doesn't mean a lot of them aren't. I for one would like to hear a muslim say "you know our religion IS a little backwards and there are a lot of morons within it doing evil things...but we are working on it" Instead you get a bunch of excuses and BS. Your religion has a MAJOR and growing problem and you need to fix it from within.

muslims also refuse to integrate as immigrants and DEMAND the host culture accomodate and change to fit them. That is very wrong especially considering when we go to islamic nations we are not accommodated and in fact as Justysia said we can even be harshly punished if we don't follow your rules exactly. Hypocricy is rampant in the islamic world.
